I don't like the direction of this patch
They can always add more rewards at any time. Any reward structure that they add will of course reach a point where players have everything unless Anet adds more. The new WvW rewards are not any different.
The timegates are there to keep players coming back and to maintain the WvW population which was low. Players have been asking Anet for years to add new dungeons. If there weren’t timegates, players would grind through to get all of the rewards in a week and then abandon those dungeons. Timegates are a necessity.
The difference between first, second, and last is a pip between each. It’s not that detrimental to be last. You miss out on two pips compared to those that are first. You’re still making progress for the week.
I think it is way too early to pass judgement on this patch. Give it a week or so, and see what adjustments are made, if any.
Mmo players with a screw loose vs mmo players with two screws loose. All very important stuff.

I agree with the first two replies, let’s give it a week or two and see. For the first time in years I’ve seen big queues of hundreds of people in WvW, I dare say most players haven’t seen this kind of overwhelming interest in WvW since the penultimate tournament or just first night of the last tournament.

thats kinda my gripe. the core WvW gameplay is exactly the same. which is the reason why people stopped playing WvW in the first place. Forcing the intensive to rewards doesn’t change the flaws of the WvW game mode
I do believe blackgamma meant incentivize instead of insensitive. :P
