I dont see how the League system is fun
Oh you want to have fun? Why sPVP is always there if you like balance!
Fun ? Now why would you try and ruin a perfectly good game by having fun, I swear some peoples children.
I’m starting to think the dev’s don’t want balence in WvW or a fair fight. Every patch empowers the strongest server and hurts the underdog servers. I think they are trying to create a Lord of The Rings / Evil empire dynamic where one server dominates (Empire, Mordor) and the other servers (rebel allience) must struggle against the odds to scrape by and once in a blue moon be victorious.
My guess is they think changing up the system may refresh it and adding in rewards will bring more players in. Both are probably accurate, but a lot of animosity has developed from players who have been routinely mismatched.

We’ve already seen the effects of mismatched matchups. Players have been clamoring for them tighten the matchmaking range. ArenaNet is responding by making it significantly larger. THIS is where the animosity has come from: ArenaNet’s constant refusal to respond to any criticism and fix any of the problems.

Pretty much this, I mean it almost seems like at times they are doing the exact opposite to spite us….Or maybe they just think we are dumb and don’t know the game we have all spent 2000+ hrs in….
I mean people asked for commander tag color options, a seemingly easy fix, and they ignored it and changed the red/blue/green tints on a whim for no apparent reason.

While I agree with commander tag and the dumb changes. The changes to the colors on the map are for colorblind people. While I am not colorblind, I understand the need to do it and approve of the change. Would have been nice to set them to old colors too tough.

Just another crazy thing, hopefully it is easier to see for the colorblind, because for many of us the blue/green is very similar. Hell I even remember people complaining that they were colorblind and had issues seeing/differentiating these new colors…

I lol’d
I know of a lot of Fairweather servers players who will only venture into WvW if their server is winning, with adding in new rewards into WvW I believe you will see an increase in participation and with the Leagues being added, I would think it would have servers who actively play in WvW to be more thoughtful in tactics used, but until they do something about the numbers imbalance, WvW will for the most part be a numbers game.

On the note of colorblindness, there are different types of it. I am not sure Anet was aware of this when they did that… I have some colorblind issues, but did not have problems differentiating between the circles. Now that they changed it for the “colorblind,” it is in a spectrum that I am blind towards. They look exactly the same now. Still makes me lol.
As for the OP points, I am having some issues understanding the direction changes as well. They dont make sense to me. The only thing I can figure is they are the start to a very long term plan that may go somewhere that works. Maybe that is misplaced hope, but I am hanging on to it..
The biggest issue in WvW, imo, is the population and coverage imbalances. And it seems to me that every change made makes these issues even worse. I would much rather they just ignore them than implement changes that only exacerbate the main issues even more. Again though, maybe they are going somewhere with this that I am unable to see. I sure hope that is the case. I really do.

NEVER FORGET
I’m starting to think the dev’s don’t want balence in WvW or a fair fight.
Oh, you mean just like they said over a year ago before the game was released?
They have said ever since before release that WvW is not meant to be about fair fights.

yes, but they forgot to give us the ring…
WvW is not meant to be fair because it is impossible to make it completely fair in in absolute sense due to all the factors involved. The only way to achieve perfect balance is to make all sides equally identical with as few choices as possible, but that doesn’t make it fun and as it turns out, not even the best games can be 100% balance. Heck, even chess is ever so slightly imbalanced. It just doesn’t matter until players get good enough. Therefore, there is no point in whining about stuff that is inherent to the gameplay format.
However, that doesn’t mean there can’t be a semblance of balance to make sure the most people get to have a decent experience (aka not getting spawn camped) It would be like not wiping your behind after going to the bathroom because it’ll get dirty later anyways.
You simply can’t have good gameplay if you decide to throw whatever in without taking in account how it affects other aspects of gameplay, aka balance.
In the end, the “fun” factor is related to a degree of fairness. Some people can say “well, you might enjoy fighting an uphill battle!”, but this is nonsense, because not everyone asks for it, and it can be used to justify any kind of change. Especially when it comes from someone that isn’t affected. “So let’s fight. I’ll get a level 80 character, and you’ll have a level 25 uplevel. You shouldn’t complain, because it’s a challenge! You should put yourself up to it [or pay out of it] nor should you complain when you get down leveled again to level 10!”
My point is, that bad design and player wills are two different issues. Some people may have the will or not to “deal with it” but it doesn’t change the quality of what was actually done. It would be like if someone took a dump in your living room and left. Of course, you’d have to deal with it, regardless of what you thought, unless you want that crap in your living room, but it still doesn’t justify them taking a dump there.
Aside from the top servers, medium -> low population server will get freaking wrecked. I don’t know how can you achieve fun from losing garrison every 5 mins.
It’s fun for whoever’s beating on the low pop server, so they can pat each other on the back and consider themselves superior @ mass 111111.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
