Is there any reason while I’m roaming solo and grabbing camps and towers that I should NOT claim them under my guild’s tag? Is there a limited supply of claims or something? Is there any sort of social norm about not spreading your guild tag all around a borderland?

Does your guild have any Objective Auras unlocked? If not, and people are complaining about you claiming, that could be why.

There is + 5 aura (+ 5 carriable supply), which is very important for all objectives. There are others for all stats +100.

You can only claim one objective per map. If you claim a tower then a camp, the tower loses its claim and camp gets claimed.. The only reason to really claim something is if you have WvW upgrades running. Pre HoT I ran a small roaming guild and got the +5 to supply count and when roaming with some friends we would claim the camps for the extra supplies. After HoT all that changed and it went into the guild halls and I never kept up with them.

Agreed, there have been too many individuals trying to boss around on WvW recently.

“DONT DUEL”, “DONT CLAIM” (even though there wasn’t anyone else around to claim anything), “DON’T PLAY THIEF/RANGER/ENGI”, “PLAY META”.
All above usually said in more harsh manner but whatever. Play it like you want, just don’t grief the game for the others.

When it comes to camps in my opinion it really doesn’t matter except maybe for the small havoc teams. Even with a team of 7 people you can deplete the camp without the +5 running…. and with the big groups that run these days now with the linking the +5 really doesn’t mean much. Claiming Keeps really is the only thing that means anything. Camps and towers flip so much a lot of the time that it really doesn’t matter much. Claim it if you want to see your banner.. if people whine.. ignore them… :P
