I really tried, but WvW is unplayable
I had fun on Friday night, but WvW is already boring me by Saturday for many of the issues listed above. For a game catering to such a casual crowd, GW2 doesn’t place much emphasis on “fun” for WvW.
Sorry, but are you in an organized guild? Otherwise W3 will always be a gamble.
In an organized guild however, even when the server is losing, you can make good xp and money in W3.
If you’re not; thats my advice: Get into an organized guild and do it in teams, with people actually leading the efforrt.
dont forget all the homeless people beggin on every corner of the citadel!! so annyoning!

Oh really? The money in WvW is a joke no matter how many keeps you take. Farming Orr will always yield 3-4x the money as the most action packed WvW battles, and PvE is always a sure thing.
feel bad for ya but its working as intended. at this point if you dont like wvw you wont ever, no planned changes, just “were looking into the idea of a possibility in which we will give it further thought and might possibly create a situation and/or window in which we will ponder working on it”
Join a guild or find one during your playtime that gets things done.
The only queue on Devona’s rest is during the first couple hours after reset, and only on our home border. That said, we still get crews together and take our slice of the pie on eternal. Even when we enrage the kaineng/ferguson beasts it leads to some great fights before we are eventually forced back.
WvWvW is some of the most fun I’ve had in GW2 despite being on the lowest ranked server.

I assume you’re doing WvW solo? I agree, it really is not a rewarding experience in that case unless you have a lot of experience – sPvP might be a better fit.
If you really want to give WvW a fair try, find an active WvW guild and perhaps also a server with a larger population.
An uncoordinated zerg (read: not on voice chat) also gets absolutely decimated by well executed tactics.

It is also hard to find rewarding matchups in many of the lower tier servers; their WvW population simply isn’t large enough.

i don’t have a big guild. only two of my guild do wvwvw. but we love it.
If the point is casuality + having fun, gather 4-10 people and play adventurer in foreign lands. You will get to cap every camp you come across and even defeat small groups. Even better, time it right and hold it to earn points.
You brought the wrath of their zerg onto you? You’re winning. You just gotta know which fights you can take and which ones you should run away from.
About thieves…they’re only good if they’re more organized than your group is. Get some daze/block/break stun and you’ll be more than fine against them…
And I think it’s really difficult to actually LOSE money in WvW, although I agree that the whole “you can live off of it” is BS.

And how do you get things done?
And how does a guild fix ANY of the things I listed?
I don’t understand, someone please explain to me. If I join a guild, will my server population increase to 24hr coverage? If I join a guild, will there be no more invisibility bug? If I join a guild whose zerg I’m following, will my XP and silver rewards increase? If I join a guild who doesn’t zerg because they only have 3-4 active WvW people, what then, do you run around taking camps endlessly and PvEing or what? And when these 3-4 people go to sleep, will Towers and Keeps be impossible to PvDoor by the enemy?
@Ianervan: Actually, in a guild, some of your drops/loot could very well increase; because of guild buffs. Besides from that, you sound like you want to be negative, and not actually find a solution, so peace to you.

Talking about zerging for XP/silver makes me think you’re on one of the smallest servers – people will disagree, but I think it is a much less rewarding experience than servers with a larger population.
WvW is for fun, not profit. If you want gold/karma farm in cursed shore instead.

That would require switching server because no such guild exists on this server. I partly agree with you that something like that would slightly increase the fun, but it would not fix any of the points I made in the first post. The main issue is that WvW is currently totally broken..

I’m just saying having a group improves your odds of accomplishing something whilst online together. If you only have a small group you’ll be taking camps and mercenary camps while avoiding zergs and engaging small groups in PvP. If you start claiming victories you might attract some of the waypoint dwellers to join you. Get some momentum and you can ninja towers.
Another problem may be your activity frame, if it’s during a lull in your servers activity I’m afraid there is little you can do aside from heavy recruiting/organizing or jumping ship =[
There is certainly coin/xp/karma to be made even on a losing server, provided you aren’t spawn camped from all three exits. If that’s the case shift to one of the borderlands or wait for them to grow bored.

If you’re not in an organized guild, you’re point is invalid. WvW NEEDS organized guilds and alliances. You’renot supposed to do WvW solo – simple as that.
Askil: “Besides from that, you sound like you want to be negative”
I don’t want to. But I’m exhausted and frustrated and really tired..
Anyway, going off now

Don’t be silly. As I said, organized guild does not change any of the points I listed in the first post.
And if you must know, I am regularly on server Teamspeak, and being “organized” doesn’t bend the laws of physics in this game, if you know what I mean. There is still a spoon.

Population-wise, yes, Medium server. How different is it on other servers?

All I can say is that my guild has been much happier on Isle of Janthir compared to Anvil Rock. Transferring to one of the higher ranked servers for a day or two can give you a good idea of how it is different. Suffice it to say that you will usually meet heavy resistance attempting to take anything, even supply camps.
Of course, there are still issues like culling, particularly with stealth characters, hackers, 700-0-0 matchups that are no fun for anyone, etc although I do have hope these will be fixed.

Ok, so there’s maybe 10 people on the entire map. I decide to give it a try. I run into a Thief.. but I don’t see him at all. Only when he was right next to me did I see the red trianble above his head (still didn’t see him). When he downed me, I saw him. Then I ALT-F4’d of course.
I’m trying to say here that game is unplayable. It has nothing to do with someones playstyles, or how many people are in his guild.
Weird about e losing money part. Play a 80 ranger. Always have surplus of money even if I invested countless golds on all those blueprints n repairs. Really having fun, both killing n being killed.
Only prob is e invis issue when rendering too many chars. Thought there was only 3 enemies… Rush in wif my group, and e UI started to draw e other 30+ enemies. Needless to say, we got totally wipeout.

apparently were not suppose to do wvw at all or we’d be able to see the enemy as well.
just saying.
WvW will always be fun for me solely for one reason: killing.
If i’m killing players, it’s gonna be freaking fun.
