Sorry I’m forced to disagree with only 2 servers in a match-up. Games like Warhammer Online highlight extremely well why the 3-way model works best. 2-Way usually means one side is dominant and the other just gives up. In a 3-way, there is always an uncertainty/random factor.
I think ArenaNet have chosen very wisely in this respect.

You have three borderlands and EB to assault. If one is jam packed with a certain server then move onto the next map. They can’t occupy all of them at the same time. If they can, well c’est la vie.
I agree with Roo. If two sides fall behind, they can work together to play catch up. Warhammer and DAOC both were great because it was 3 and not 2.

Only 2 servers fighting would call for more static fights, although I agree that when 2 servers unknowingly help each other out ( yes unknowingly it is merely a coincidence no server uses another as a crutch at least they don’t tell the other server they are.) it calls for a bad experience for the day at least. Server vs Server should be something implemented for the T1 servers so that the top server truly shines and others servers have something to strive for although I am content with my enjoyment of rolling around with my guild group.

better idea how about just have a larger EB no borderlands (would help mitigate the 1 server has more people to cover all maps thing)
having 2 ladders but based on weekend and weekday not eu and everyone else(more servers to get more even fights) that are on 3.5 day reset cycle
once every 3 months(less more?) make everyone repick their server(assign all players to no server picked and they choose a server next time they log in)
implement guildwars like in tera
or an eve type map where everyone can freely fight eachother and stuff is owned by guilds/alliances not servers and no i wont go play eve i dont enjoy spaceship combat

adding three more servers makes no sense unless they stop segregating servers due to geographical regions. I know that most servers don’t have full 24/7 coverage and some don’t even have enough players to field on 2 maps.

Let’s make GW2 just like every other game out there; that will surely fix everything we think is wrong with it.

Although I am for the 3 way as opposed to the two way, a two way would work in this game.
The failure of the 2 way system has always been based off of how many people fought on each side. Perfect example of this is SW such a huge imbalance of people playing sith made it impossible.
And servers in alot of games faced one side dominating the other.
In this game however there is no factions. there is no this side looks cooler then the other etc. It is server vs server, so it is all about population and coverage.
The system would work pretty much the same wvw as it does with wvwvw.

The problem is that this isn’t conducive to what GW2 is aiming for. GW2 is trying to get AWAY from what everyone else is doing. The fact of the matter is that you can’t keep ripping off ideas from other games and make another Frankenstein of an MMO that dies within a few months; there are only so many ways you can improve on the wheel. Additionally, when you copy ideas from EVE, TERA, ect. the players from those MMOs complain about how it’s not close enough to what those games are.
So yeah it’s time to get away from that kind of thinking.
Current servers with WvWvW queues (even if short, or only on EB for any time period outside of friday night) … less than 10. Believe it or not, there needs to be more players to fill the fields of the current pop before increasing the wvwvw maps could even be considered. Total servers in the regions (what is it 24?) sorry I don’t have it handy.
We need more bodies into wvwvw. Hoping somehow this weekend event can piggyback some more numbers into wvw (and not the opposite effect).
If we want equality or at least some better battles, we need all the servers to have larger people playing, around the clock. I don’t see this happening anytime soon if it stays idle as is. No monetary gain or carrot for those (outside of there 500 badges). we need to send cookies to the ANet marketing team or greater. Otherwise it will remain in the current state. My thoughts on this anyway.
