Weather could be fun.. big rainstorm cuts your LoS in half =D
I would prefer different topography on the borderland maps and EB. So you can easily tell that green has a jungle borderland or blue has a arctic borderland. Eotm has just turned into a pve map because of no server identity.

I really like how much it rains sometimes in the green keep on EB. More of that please.
These kind of changes would just further alienate the core WvWvW players away from this game. Most core players dislike EotM, because it has too much pve and karma train.
The big problem of having different borderlands is that they will most likely not be balanced at all. Example: green has advantage in EotM and blue got the short stick.
Having different looks will not add anything to long lasting appeal of this game. Example: Counter Strike and its relatively boring looking maps, still popular 15 years later the introduction.
The health and well-being of WvWvW in the long term all boils down to:
1) Community
Arenanet decision to remove match up related threads was a bad one. They are very important for community
2) Balance
We haven’t had any major WvWvW balance updates. All the skill balance is based on spvp/tpvp. WvWvW is very different by nature, much larger scale, mobility is much more important, stealth is much stronger in WvWvW, half of the professions completely dominate the WvWvW zerg meta. Population and coverage imbalances are also glaring
These two should be top priorities. Oh fixing all those numerous bugs and exploits.
