IDEA: Desert border middle area

Now that I thought about it more, maybe there doesnt need to be 5 ruins, 3 would be enough. Or possibly even just 1 at the middle you would have to hold for 3 -5min and the jump pads would go next to it and away from it towards 5 different platforms ^^
1 Ruin would be nice considering game pop has went down a bit. And actually 1 guy could cap the bloodlust himself (the time would have to be bit increased tho I believe, so defenders wouldnt have so much issue with every roamer) ^^

Jump pads and updrafts to get to floaty capture point chunks of land and gliding enabled for all in this area with unlockable glider combat skills.
They need to add fast paths though the trees kind of what they have now but a bit more longer and that links major gaps in the center.

I would like this map to be changed in several ways
- Ability to climb up to the top of the towers (& treb/cata/AC from the top)
- even better shrine swiftness etc
- something in the middle
Whilst I’m definitely not a fan of the Ruins in the alpine maps OR Threather.9354’s idea, I do approve the notion of replacing the giant laser event with something else. One concept suggested by a GvG commander on Piken was to lower the current structures so that they can be used as simple geographical obstacles to fight around and aren’t these huge problematic structures that have to be navigated around. Falling off wouldn’t be such a big deal either.

Copy paste obsidian sanctum arena in the middle of the desert, then play the gladiator theme every time you walk through it.

Adding bloodlust ruins to the Oasis a bit unimaginative.
The mega laser was terrible, so whatever happens don’t bring it back.
I would propose adding a tower in the Oasis. The kind that grants an easy path to attack the earth keep. For example access to an elevated position for a trebuchet which can be defended from the tower. Or to a tunnel below the keep which can also be used by the south camp dolyak to supply the keep.

Make wvw great again, add the washington monument to the middle of the desert.
Wait… make wvw double great again, add the washington monument to the middle of the colosseum in the middle of the desert with a moat and ramps that lead to each keep, with random gladiator and braveheart theme songs playing when you enter.

Just put the entire alpine map inside the oasis of the desert map. I’m sure it’ll fit. =)

I would like to see the bloodlust gone complete and every borderland map have its middle area reworked into water + island in the middle. Just like the original Alpine borderland had in 2012-2013, but make the central island a bit bigger and be of more importance.
Bloodlust is NOT a good game mechanic at all, because:
- it adds powercreep (we already got too much of it)
- adds to server lag and requires more server resources to calculate
- really does NOT help the weaker side to make comeback vs winners
I will skip the talk about flaws and good sides of desert bls so there wont be too much salt on this thread about them. As if that is possible.
Id like to see some changes towards the middle area of desert Bls, its completely useless at the moment with the Powercore event removed. My idea for it would be that they add bloodlust ruins to desert border with a little change. There would be like jump pads that would take you the next ruin (thus bloodlust cappers can help defend the other ruin easier, and defenders can manage to cover more ruins in the 2 minutes). Also it would help getting around the map faster if the pads and ruins are placed smartly (they can be more apart than in alpine borders).
As I see the pads would work like this: each ruin would have 2 pads towards left/right ruin. So it would take 2 pads to go whichever ruin you want. You cant use the Pads when youre in combat. You get revealed when you use a pad. Youre invuln for really short duration when you land (to prevent traps).

No jump pads. Jumping puzzleness and vert stuff in general is what makes a lot of people right down hate the DBL, myself included.
I would have some of those vet mobs on steroids, or some sort of objects requiring interaction instead of circles / squares to stand in, that way whoever goes for the “ruins buff” is setting themselves up for a gank just like they do currently standing in a circle or square, but a bit different to break the monotony of it.
Alternatively, put something like 5 ruin type objectives in there and if any side gains control of all 5, they get a supply depot in middle. Not a supply camp that sends out yaks and replenishes itself and has a 5 min RI, but just a single time supply drop kinda thing with maybe 200-300 supply in it that anyone from either side can pick up and once its gone, its gone until all the ruins get flipped again.
But the above idea would be unbalanced unless there was its equivalent on all 5 BLs, as it would make k-training much easier on this particular map, that goes both offense as well as defense (back caps trains).
So i don’t know. I would love for it to have some sort of tactical / strategic importance other then just bloodlust buff.
I would add an open field WP guarded by 1 Champion and 6 veterans. (hard for a single player flip) Perhaps two fixed place cannons that regen over time can be added as well that can be used by controlling team.
Or.
A device guarded by the same which while controlled by a given team , prevents any existing WPS on map controlled by said team from being contested. (perhaps the benefit extends to all maps?)
I think this would pull people into open field battles on that central map as control adds both a defensive and offensive benefit to the controlling team.
