Yeah, all one of them at many times of the day on lower tier servers, where a dozen people can be a “zerg”. Maybe they could play a Mesmer so they could “split up” and scout multiple objectives at once, right?

I play on silver league EU server, and we have roamers even on extreme times (far too late or early), let alone a zerg. There’s enough roaming AND zerg action pretty much anytime. It might stop at some point after 6 AM for a couple of hours, then repeat.
So no I don’t know what you’re talking about. I imagine on “gold” league there would be many people 24/7 on map. I don’t play on bronze so can’t really comment on there.
White swords need to stay. Creating distractions will be a lot harder without them.

I’m talking about Bronze, where maps often have 5 or fewer people on them outside of primetime (and sometimes even during primetime if the server is trying to concentrate a zerg on another map). Note that I’m not complaining about the low population, which can work OK with the white swords as-is.

White swords needs to stay as an indication something is going on. Simple as it has been for the last 2 years and i cant see any valid reason why they want to remove them now.

Or you can just ask “any action”, and join the fight…
Yes white swords exist from the beginning, yet zerging rules WvW.

Taking them away will only create more zergs as no one likes to sit in a tower/keep to await a possible attack. I do it myself many times but also like to leave the structure to grab a camp/upgrade it, run supplies to build sieges speed up dollies. All stuff i cant do without white swords as an attack can occur at any given time.

Taking away white swords will shift the advantage to the higher population servers. There are simply more people around noticing attacks on those.
Anyway, what will happen to waypoints? Will they still indicate an attack, or will they appear normal but don’t work if you try to use them (or even take you to a “random” other uncontested waypoint near)?

None said anything about sitting in 1 spot.If small groups/soloers are roaming on the map, they should spot enemy zerglings. Just shout and wait for backup.
Again it might turn a very bad change, but in paper it seems good. If it goes south though it will be player fault and not Anet fault… Just saying.

Probably every one can port in massive way to kill 5 players or only guild put buffs on is the one that has acess to the waypoint only.
By the other hand this might promote more guilds taking care of a certain tower/keep, but once again low pop servers can only get like 2 or 3 players during the day on BL and other 10 on eb?
IMO IF Anet wants this working first they have to adress several game design mistakes that invalute this option they want to introduce wich mean a little rework/change on WVW.
Probably this will make less field combat and groups stacking on tower with siege, wich IMO is a ugly concept.

That’s great when you have enough players to scout.
white swords pop after 30 seconds of combat, that’s actually long enough to fully kill a door (sup ram does ~2.5k dps on reinforced door) gate has 610k HP so that means you’d need 8 sup rams to down the gate in 30 seconds. You need around 30 pplz for 8 sup rams, even less if you’re using +5 upgrades.
Ofcourse most people wont throw down 8 sup rams on a gate, but we also need to take the reaction time into account. It takes atleast 30 seconds to get OOC→port keep→get to the tower, which would bring the total amount of rams needed down to 4 superiors.
We don’t need anet to tell us that scouts are a vital part of WvW, removing the white swords will only result in outnumbered servers not being able to pull off decent zergs+scouts which will debalance the fights. Bronze tier just lacks numbers in general to coverup scouts in all towers. scouting is incredibely unrewarding, no lootbags and 1g up to 5g upgrade costs sieges not even taken into account yet. Removing white swords will also remove the tagging strategy, not used very often, but tagging can be really powerfull for diversion. And removing any real strategy from WvW is just stupidity.
I think it’d be fine to disable white swords on small objectives like camps only.
Towers should be able to upgrade to an alarm system, and Keeps should have them naturally.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
