Idea for turing WvW into a PvP gametype again
The problem with defending is that it’s boring. You could stay and scout for tower and not see a single enemy for hours. During this week I played in the borderlands capturing camps, towers and keep and the enemy teams didn’t capture anything during that time. Anything!
I say it’s the lack of motivation of masses to play WvW that is the problem. Tier 3 matchups are literally about 3-man teams running around map and deciding which server is going to win.
1 player can capture any camp no matter if it’s upgraded or not.
2-3 players can capture any tower or keep given that enemies don’t defend it. If the objective is fortified then you have to sit at the catapult/ram for longer time. Champion lord difficulty is scaled so 3 players kill it as fast as 20 players.
The only question is: do you bother?

The problem is what kind of points you get when objectives are not fought over.
The idea as is would completely steamroll points for night and morning cappers, because those often see the longest held objectives. It would work decently if we assumed that EB was the only map that existed, where the difference in score may be just holding 1 or 2 extra towers over what the enemy holds. If these was encouraged to be defended in order to gather more points from them, well that’s just swell. But in reality, we got 3 other maps with near zero population 90% of the time that would just sit there and tick your defense “encouraging” points while not having any defense whatsoever.
It seems to me like A-Net would really like us all to quit playing the game and start paying to watch PvP as an ‘e-sport’. WvW is not WvW at all at this point, and I have zero expectation that it will be improved.

And in order to make the life of the Defender , less boring there could be , an item in the Vendor that allow you to soulbound yourself to an Keep-Castle until you logout or buy a new
(max 3 ppl per Stracture . Guild Members overthrows other random ppl)
The item allows you dig under the earth with a heavily reduced reduced speed , and beeing visible (just like the Sonic Tunneling) .
Just like Bard from LoL you can collect Meeps underground , in a straight line towards the soulbound keep (in order to avoid stealth scouting exploits) , with tremendous speed and makes you invisible .
Along with the Meeps , there could be Anti-Meeps that will try to touch you 3 times and makes you visible (Edit: just like playing Guitar Hero)
(the enemy zerg-scouts will spots from afar and killed you before you go into the door) .
Play the minigame and loose some seconds to get there and you might you wont have the time to man up the Arrow cart and Defend the Gate
Collect the Meeps and get touched by the Anti-Meeps , you will get there faster , but you will be visible
Edit: If you are the domminat server with the most Points , you get less Soulbound Slots per Stracture

The only way I could see this idea work, is if is tied to having a player sitting babysitting an objective for the bonus. Otherwise you end up with epic point slides during off times etc. But yeah, people sitting babysitting the capture ring would be pretty boring.
Might as well tie points to objectives held by a player, welcome to the Camp Wars. I think that would have been boring.
