So today me and my guildmates talked about the latest Post of anet where they talk about the future of WvW.
Two points where really interesting to us.
" We have some ideas in the pipeline to try to increase scoring when people are playing the game and to make it much more difficult to keep your territory without actively guarding it."
and
" It’s our goal to introduce more systems that encourage play within a wide variety of roles, not just those two. Scouts, siege masters, and defenders are only a sampling of the roles we intend to add to"
We than tried to get some idea’s how you could work with that and I like to present you some of the idea’s that “survived”
Right now its so, that you build up a keep and if nobody comes by , it stays untouched for eternity and there is no decay of anything related to the keep.
A mortar works every time unless its not build up or dead ?! What if you had to maintain that weapon every 6 hours or it would slowly die.
Another idea we had was wildlife attacks.
Rats for example that run around in the keep slowly getting more and start to chip away the amount of supply you have. First it would be only 2 material every 30 seconds for each rat. But the rats getting more and so the amount of supply’s drained rises. If you have 10 rats inside the keep. The “upkeep” for them increases to 5 supply’s each rat each 30 sec’s. So unattained keeps would go empty in without proper attention.
The next Idea we had where something like “tremmor rocked worms” that attack your walls for example. A wall would collapse over time, opening a parth for the enemy if you not repair the dmg and kill the worms. The worms may also get started the same way quaggans appear. So you would have something in addition for the big keeeps that works like quaggans with NPC attacks. This would increase the amount of tasks to Handel on a borderland and it would require more small scale troops to Handel :O
I for my self would like to see an increased amount of NPC’s in some Keeps. Given the fact that also this NPC’kitten to be maintained. Something like infestations with deceases that would slowly kill them off. You than had to “heal” the Guards as an result of that to maintain there presence inside a keep.
All of this would give scouts a relevance and a way to do some events while standing and protecting a keep. In the end, yes this would require even more scouts than now. But it would add a layer of interested to the game that is needed with changes like “Deffen events only trigger after 30 secs” and “25 People Orange Battlemarks”.
So how do you like our idea’s and what would you like to add or see when they implement something like that.
