Like many others, I am getting annoyed with seeing a bunch of people constantly getting instantly rezzed and rallying in fights only to give more of an advantage to large groups. What would you think of adding a debuff to players that only allow, for example 1 rally within a given period of time? It would work sort of like a downed penalty, so if you get downed and rally you get a debuff for say 60 seconds that will put you in a fully defeated state if you get downed again.

The numbers are just used as an example, but what do people think of this idea, and how it might affect WvW.

The debuff would limit how often you can rally while it is active.

This is basically how it would work…
>Get Downed
>Rally or get revived
>Timer starts for the debuff to become active, this way you have time to recover health and get to a safer location.
>Debuff becomes active, if you become downed while it is active you are put into a defeated state.

Revival mechanics would not be changed, since you would still be able to rez someone that is downed, and there are already existing mechanics that prevent resurrection of fully dead players while in combat. This would simply limit groups from being able to constantly mass rez people that go down in fights

Good compromise.

Personally the more I see this in action, with as bunkerish as people are these days, the more I’m all for skipping downed and go right do dead.

Ran with guildies the other day 3 of us roaming about, ended up fighting 5 or 6 (forgot) enemies, they ambushed us, and took me out early (yup I suck), the others got a few downed, but couldn’t concentrate on killing them, so they kept getting back up and re joining the fight until our team got taken down one by one.

Lying on the ground dead watching, and seeing that if not for the down state, my guild leader would likely have killed them all alone -_-’

ANet really should change their entire perspective on WvW/PvP, the same CareBear rules that works very well for them in PvE is handicapping them fiercely in WvW/PvP.

Of course but in the current system you can just pick your friends back up and the focus party will rarely be able to actually finish them off.
In your system however they’d be straightout dead after beeing down 2 times.

Taking downstate away from WvW would probably mean that the only viable classes are going to be the ones with a very high damage mitigation uptime like warriors with defy pain and zerker backlines will be non existent.

I understand your point, what about putting a delay on the debuff? This would allow some time to heal up. This idea wouldn’t remove downstate, just reduce the constant rallying.

Are you talking about revival or rallying or both?

Rally = You kill somebody and get back up from downstate. One person dying can only cause one person to rally.
Revive = An ally walks over to you and heals you back up.

Well downstate is important I think, especially since there are skills that are tied to it. I think that the issue is people being able to rally to often, and get rezzed too often and too quickly.

I like the limiting it … but internally have a fear that adding more calculations (a countdown timer per character) onto and already bogged system will just hurt game play in the long run.

But I don’t have any better offer… sorry, trying to think of something/happy median between what exists today and no downed state. (cause that effectively would also cause much kickback and flack)

Rallying is there to reduce running back from spawn. This is so that if your group wins, you don’t have to run back from spawn even if you die and you can keep on going to your next destination as a group. It is a bit weird if your group wins and you still die.

Reduce the ammount of people that can ress a downed ally. There is already a limit of 5 (lul). Just make it 1 or 2 and you won’t be seeing insta resses as much.

Good rezzer’s are hard to find man. Leave as is, just penalize getting downed and rally off others to a time limit(best suggestion to date).

I mean I often look and hear a call out on TS … ‘single downed… still single downed… come on guys this isn’t funny… … … doubled… I hate you guys.’ Zergs … live up to their … standard more often than not when it comes to helping allies. Most zerglings too slow, or flat out don’t care and think someone else will do it.

While others seem quick to the ball (I find smaller 4-5 man teams roaming are generally better at it ressing than zerglings).

There already is one but it is insanely difficult to hit. Players that are downed 4 times in one minute insta-die.
