So, after playing a lot of WvW, I’ve been thinking of ways to improve the experience. Here are some ideas.

1. Randomize starting positions: Currently, green is first ranked, blue is second ranked, and red is third ranked. Instead, at the start of every match, randomly assign servers to the 3 colors. This would keep things exciting from week to week and would help those who need to get map completion.

2. Change the ranking method: A lot of people have mentioned the idea of the first place server moving up a tier and the last place server moving down a tier. I think this is a great idea. There is no reason a server should need to dominate a particular tier for 4 weeks in a row before moving up. That is just boring for everyone.

3. Remove the jumping puzzles: Make the jumping puzzles a separate part of the game. There are only a limited number of slots within WvW and there is a lot of hostility towards players that are trying to complete the jumping puzzles on Friday night right after reset. It’s a waste of server spots currently.

4. Outmanned buff: Instead of just giving karma/xp, give real stat increases to power/prec/vit/toughness/healing/etc. The amount of the buff would vary based on how outnumbered they are. People should feel that they have a chance in situation.

5. Guild view on map: Have a way to see guild members on the map. This would encourage smaller team objective taking and would allow guilds to more easily coordinate attacks or defenses.

6. Add more objectives that only need small teams to complete: Right now, WvW is mostly a zerg fest. Similar to #5, there needs to be more ways to encourage smaller teams.

7. Achievement points: I have played WvW for countless hours at this point and have around 4,500 kills. In all that time, I have earned a total of 41 achievement points. That is essentially the total number of leveling 1 craft. Something should be done in that area.

8. Change the commander system: There needs to be more to obtaining the commander title than paying 100 gold.

9. Commander abilities: Give commanders the ability to unclaim towers/keeps/camps/etc. There are still a number of people who claim structures just to see their flag fly. Commanders should be able to unclaim these so that guilds who can actually provide upgrades can claim them.

As an aside, I am really looking forward to the progression system that anet is working on. I think that will be really nice!
