Want people on the outmanned team to run around with roughly the same buff as a siege golem? That’s more than a bit excessive.

The buff would only really be to health. Purely to prevent being spiked and dead before you are able to use an ability. The group of 50 people still have access to 5 times the number of abilities in the same time period (remember this includes knockdowns, fear, stuns etc as well as pure damage).
Right now the outmanned buff gives you free trip to spawn with no repair penalty if you die—sounds about right to me. Also the buff lets you know you are outmanned so you can plan tactics accordingly—sounds about right to me.
Any other tinkering with this buff will just make the situation worse!

Agreed, some servers need those occasional opportunities to pull back a bit.
The problem isn’t purely about being outnumbered, it’s that losing in PPT by a large amount starts a feedback loop where fewer people get in WvW because they see the server is losing, so it keeps losing harder and harder over the week.
The problem has more to do with unbalanced rewards that encourage casual players to karma train on easy matchup weeks, and then fall back to PvE with their tails tucked between their legs on hard matchup weeks.

Still a kittenty suggestion.
How about adding orb-like things, possible to hold 3, each giving 50 points to everything. Outnumbered server would take it and hold it, while winning servers wouldn’t even touch or look at it. This seems pretty reasona……

I wanted my voice added to this. I love WvW but the real fun of these things are having close matches where the tides can be turned. I’m on TC (like the number 4 server) and 1 weeks is spent fighting FA and DB (which is a fun close fight. Though we tend to rank up more often there are many weeks where either of them beat us all out) . And the next week its just “stick away from WvW week” where you’re stuck in a fight with 2 tier 1 servers. Both of which see you as an easy target of extra ground.
Now i’m not suggesting that you make it to where 5 man groups are able to take on 10 mans or 1 person is able to stop a 20 person storm into a tower.
But i think it really is pointless to have a outmanned buff that buffs things you really only need in PvE. You aren’t using gold gain, magic find, ect ect that you get from killing people when you are just being rolled over
So my suggestion is 2 things.
1 – The outman buff be changed. I don’t think pure stat increases are a good idea. Because it promotes the idea of keeping smaller teams to take on big teams which isn’t what WvW is about. So my idea would be different types of buffs.
I – first you would split the outmanned buff into (Outmanned and Severely Outmanned)
A. Incresed supply capacity (15% – 50%). This number would bring up the amount of supply each person brings around making building seige,and defending towers actually possible. (even though 1 man with 15 supply isn’t going to get the job done. 5-10 can actually do something with it. And it’ll make the 3 trips back to create an arrow cart down to 2.
B. Decrease stun duration (15% – 50%) for those times you are caught by a slightly bigger group this buff will actually give you the chance to pull back and escape even if you aren’t a thief or an ele. Also made to promote more hit and run tactics
C. Increased speed (10% – 20% stacking with other speed buffs) So you can get back and forth between supply.
Now these chances won’t stop servers that stomp lower pop and lower guild populated servers from rolling over people but it should at least give people outman some actual use without breaking the game.
2. To make other elements that actually turn the tide of the fight – The blood lust buff is cool and great and all. But really its turn into making winning servers win even harder. Which they can do normally without its help. Elements like that should be used for servers to come back or at least have a chance.
I hate to use WoW as a reference. But you can see world V world as more of a bigger and more complex Alterac valley. And the way Alterac works is. On top of the main objective (killing the enemy king and or running the other team out of supply) there are also other very important sections on the map to control. And there are other elements (which aren’t really used in the currently way the game is played) that can severely change the tide of battle if the team works together. Which i believe would be perfect for WvW seeing as this game has much more cooperation.
Mercenaries are a good start. But really they are just extra NPCs along the way. If you made things like those camps but actually made the mercs a wandering pack of like 5 npcs that could cleave a zerg in 2. They would actually make them worth getting and a real strategic point to hold. And even smaller buffs would help out.
Like small points around the map held by Steam creatures (that would need to be held by who wants to use it) that could be used by any team not currently in the lead. To drop down 1 tactical strike (that sent a warning so it could be dodged. once every 10 – 20 minutes
Ohhh or my favorite this would be the hardest to get. Once a day. A losing team (losing by X amount of points) could call upon a captured destroyer who would than start charging inside of garrison or some other bunker that could be defended and if the losing team could hold it for X amount of time a giant destroyer spawns in the center ravaging the roads making it much much harder for the winning (and or other team) to making it from points to points without harm. And of course this isn’t for a close match of of people separated by 5K, 10K, or even 50K. But those servers who are getting stomped, without their color on the map or the map being 1 single color. So they have a chance to play to if they play their cards right
Outmanned buff should give more WXP to your enemies when they kill you. They’re having hard enough time as it is, trying to find fodder for their blob. I also suggest allowing the higher populated server to take up the outmanned server’s spots in map queue because if you can’t get a full map on your own you don’t deserve to win anyway. Feel free to use these ideas Devon.

These sorts of ideas are terrible and need to stop being suggested. They don’t help an outmanned server anymore than they help the overmanned server because the overmanned server can go to a map where they are outmanned but not in danger, get 50% more supply by rotating through its people, and then coming back to the proper map with 50% more supply.
People already do this with Siegerazor to insta-supply a whole zerg. We don’t need whole zergs with 50% more supply.

The devs have already explained why they will never make a change like this. Stop trying to make it happen.
Why do people keep bumping this trash? If it involves stat buffs for being outmanned, it isn’t going to happen. This is reddit, it isn’t a democracy. It has been reiterated multiple times so quit bumping these garbage random “stat boost to undermanned server” ideas. If you see something unique and reasonable, bump that.
