If Anet asked for a Donation to upgrade the WvW servers to some thing alittle less prone to lag whenever anyone does anything in large numbers would you do it? if so how much?

I would prolly donate, maybe about £30 to £60

Doubt it’d happen. I wouldn’t donate a thing for that. But fixing the engine? I might buy a few gem cards.

Its a game that I spend hours on and dump money in monthly. If they can’t pull themselves together to fix issues in their game like lag without begging players for money, then I’ll turn the other way and find a new game..

Not at all, they don’t value their community or our input, besides why would I give them more money to put into PvE because you can bet your kitten none of it would go to WvW.

Now if they started to actually use common sence and add things we have been asking for them I might consider it, but as long as their ignoring us and brainstorming crap like Leagues that no one asked for that rewards mindless zerging/coverage, not a chance in hell.

No. Why would I donate to fix something that should be working already?

Assuming it actually does go to upgrade servers, then yes, definitely.

As someone who spends about $50 a month on gems, i think i have already overpaid. The only thing i ask Anet is, give players free transfers before they implement the league.

Nope. Engine is broken, balance is broken, basic features still missing, and I already payed for this once based on false promises.

They cant event fix population balances, want to make rewards based on population and coverage….do you think they deserve any money from players? If you do sure feel free to donate. For me its the main reason I don’t buy gems anymore. The imbalanced wvw matches every week + rewarding those stacked servers has left me not wanting to support them.

Not trying to be ungrateful just telling the truth. Game has marvelous potential but poor mechanics that are causing the majority of problems that are coming into play meta.

This isn’t a kickstarter bro. This is a full featured game with an established IP backed by a multifaceted corporation (NCSoft).

I wouldn’t donate money to EA, Activision, or Microsoft either. It’s a business who’s actions dictate their profitability. They start panhandling and it’s an indicator of a serious development problem with the business model. They know how to make money, and if they don’t want to use WvW as part of that then I’m happy to take my business elsewhere. That’s how it works. I’m not going to give NCSoft more money hoping they’re going to appropriate it properly as what I’ve seen thus far indicates their daughter company is incapable of producing quality content (level and art direction excluded, those guys are effin awesome).

Put simply they want money for WvW, they need to appropriate development to it and monetize it accordingly. Something I doubt they are willing or capable of doing namely because it’s “difficult” and “takes time” as per the department head, Mr. Dev-on-a-budget Carver.

Nope. The introduction of WvW leagues shows a profound lack of understanding of WvW, the people that enjoy WvW, and the failings of their rank system. I wont put a dime towards the game until Carver is replaced with an inanimate object.

Nope. I would only consider it if they actually bothered looking at some of the player suggestions and making changes we’ve been asking for since launch. They obviously don’t care about player input so why should I support them?

If they want donations for WvW… they should just make new things in the gem shop geared towards WvW.

They make plenty of money. They are expanding their living world team plenty.

Lag? What is lag? Dont know that in WvW on RoF.
But if they want money for party Ui and commander UI: none,because that should be in the game from the beggining

They are happy to brag about being the fastest selling mmo of all time, so I don’t see why current playerbase should fork out more cash.

Why do people keep assuming that new server = no lag?
It is quite likely that they already have more or less the best possible hardware.

That is the same value as buy an expansion, IMO i would do it and that might take me into the game again, but also deppends what Anet/NCSOFT want to turn WvW into.

As an expansion to a more actual concept of open war continent and siege mechanics as other mmo’s are choosing develop? i would pay.

No. If they were to fix their classes, keep more contact with their players (hello? Necromancer bugs unanswered for months.), fix their engine and make WvW more engaging, yes. I would bathe them in my money. If they fixed the necromancer AND made him viable in pvp matchups, I would fly to the headquarters and wash their feet. But as the current state of WvW and PvE and PvP is, no. I’d rather farm for hours.

A truly massively-multiplayer-capable backend can’t be patched together based on an upgraded engine originally designed for smaller fights. You have to build the engine with that kind of traffic in mind from the very start, and the switching infrastructure that supports it needs to be included as part of the design.

You don’t get meaningful performance increases by simply upgrading servers, unless you are a completely fail organization that let your servers get overloaded to begin with while you stood by doing nothing (and whatever ArenaNet’s failings may be, I’m confident that this at least isn’t one of them). The only reason you upgrade servers is to reduce the risks and/or costs of operating/maintaining them.

the current engine is either up to the task (in which case donations shouldn’t be necessary) or it is not (in which case donations would be useless).

The mats will absolutely drop in WvW. In addition, generally speaking, we are putting a heavier emphasis on finding long-term solutions to redressing the reward imbalance between PvE and WvW. I can’t claim they will ever be 100% equal all the time, but we would like it to never be the case that you are choosing between playing WvW and getting good rewards. The two should be one in the same.

O nope that didn’t happen, orr temples give a ton more.

Ascended weapons were not normalized or kept from WvW and 101 other issues they have failed to act on.

Why not reverse it for a change, give the crappy reward amounts in the poorly coded pve environment and the better rewards in WvW?

giving anet a donation would be about the same as giving that homeless guy in front of the liquor store a few bucks.
