If Scrapping Desert BLS is not possible?
or you could do a really easy and possibly awesome quick fix. add a ton of those bouncy mushroom things in HoT pve that shoot you long distances. also add more waypoints to towers and make all waypoints to be contestable only if someone is actively attacking a guard.
Yes, and while you’re in the air the enemy you were looking for is running under you into the direction you came from – I don’t think mushrooms really are what we’re looking for.
And I want the structure to be attacked again before white swords pop up – half of the EB map is constantly contested – the white swords are a bit useless.
If they don’t they insist on adding, into the old BL, all the garbage that made Desert BL terrible, I don’t see how scrapping the desert BL wouldn’t be possible.
But they probably will insist, I suppose.
IDK why people keep saying the maps are too big!? They’re actually WAY too small! Having maps so small only encourages the blob/zerg mentality since the entire ‘group’ can get to any destination rather quickly.
I think they need to make ALL maps BIGGER! Our WvW “world” should be about 2 or 3 times as much “real estate” as it currently is!
Also, I really wish people would stop talking about “scrap DBL PLZ” and how “terrible they are”, that is VERY insulting to ANET. Think about all the time and effort that went into them and their design! Instead, if there are specific things you don’t like about them, why not ask for specific “tweaks” instead of slapping ANET in the face like that!?
I for one LIKE the new maps! I wont argue there may be some things that could be “tweaked” here and there, but there’s NO reason to stoop to the level of insulting anet and slapping them in the face telling them how “crappy” they are and to “just scrap them”! HOW RUDE .
(Lucky I don’t work for ANET or I’d perma ban all your rude kittens!)

I want to ask a few things really quick.
First, not everything needs to be in quotes. I hate it when people overuse quotes, and your post is a classic example of that. Now, moving onto my main point…
Why is it rude to tell ANet something they made is bad? Lets look at it this way – I spend a long time writing a book. Its not a very good book, but its still a book I spent a long time on. Should people have to like my book and tell me its great, or can they be honest about how they feel about it? The truth is, the Desert Borderlands are objectively bad – its clear over 60-70% of the WvW community simply don’t like them at all. Its nothing against ANet, its just that people don’t like the maps. Sometimes that happens – you think bad movies you laugh about with friends (I’m looking at you Phantom Menace) didn’t take longer to make than the new Desert Borderlands?
At the end of the day, you can’t really just tweak a few things about Desert Borderlands. The thing is, people loved WvW for huge zerg fights. Was it fun getting wrecked as a roamer by a zerg? Of course not. But if you want small group based fights, PvP and other MMOs honestly do it better than WvW does. The beauty and uniqueness behind WvW is that so many people can fight each other at once. Its a cluster, yeah, but its so much fun and amazing.
Finally, I wanted to add I feel bigger maps discourage roaming, but thats just me. Bigger maps encourage people to sit in towers and keeps because they have no idea when the other servers are going to attack, and if they roam they can’t return in time to defend. Smaller maps are not only better suited to large group fights, but lets roamers rotate around the map undetected and ninja towers, costing resources and time for the other servers.

Why can’t we have it all? What speaks against it and why does wvw have “like this” or “that” or “one of those” (yes, the quotes are partly on purpose) – that is what got us into this mess as anet tried to tell us how to play a game mode which we create.
You can still roam, blob, zerg, small scale on EB and you could do so on the alpine BLs.
All of this is pretty hard on the DBLs – you can form a mini zerg and flip a whole BL, but as a defender you’ll have a hard time getting to the attackers in time. Your second passage is true. Those who want to roam a whole map are the attackers, not defenders – would be incredibly boring to patrol a map in hope of a fight.
I don’t think they will ever completely scrap desert bl just because it’s a new shiny. They’ve been stung before by removing content in Living Season 1 so I would not be surprised to see it remain, especially considering it’s almost the entirety of what WvW got in the expansion.
My personal hope is that they have fixed borderlands maps rather than 3×1 or random maps. Blue is always Alpine, Red is always Desert, Green is always X.

Why can’t you have it all? Because if you want small scale fights, I really don’t understand why you would go into a game mode (seemingly) designed for larger scale combat. The main issue people had with the Alpine BL’s, from my understanding, was when they were roaming they would get wrecked by zergs. Can you get roamer vs roamer fights in WvW? Of course you can, they just aren’t easy to find sometimes. But what I was trying to get at was they shouldn’t cater WvW to be less about huge blobs and more about roamers, as huge blob PvP doesn’t exist elsewhere and small fight PvP does. WvW being huge zergs is what made GW2 stand out for me, not the PvP aspect.

No serious roamer complains about zergs. And in fact roamers are underrepresented when it comes to the forums – a lot of people complained about zergs, yes, but I don’t know their reasons, I think few to none were given anyway.
And I tried to tell you that trying to exclude the one or other choice to play this game leads to failure. Roamers are the ones calling where the enemies are – think it would be more fun if they were gone?
