If you had every profession at 80 and enough gold to outfit just one character for WvW solo play which profession/build and why would give you the most fun?

My vote: Engineer HGH/P+P

1) High swiftness uptime
2) Good ranged damage
3) Good mitigation
4) Pull foe to you via magnet
5) Pry bar to face
6) has to be Pry bar to face again hehe

I have every class at 80, and for solo play I stick to my thief. I play a more survival thief.

The reason being….

Still very high dps.

A bit of toughness to survive some bigger hits.

Everytime you stealth, you gain health.

Dagger/Pistol imo is better than Dagger/Dagger. Shadow Shot is amazing to chase down fleeing foes. You can also almost permablind enemies. I’ve solo’d warriors without them hitting me once.

Daggerstorm to clear a camp. With signet of malice you absolutely never go down unless there is a buff.

The main reason I like it is because I can roam around freely, and if you ever get stuck in a bad situation, you always have a way out. With blindingpowder and heartseeker, you can stealth without having to hit an enemy.

Heh … I’d have to stick with Mesmer. Particularily Condition spec, Staff + ScepFocus (or SworTorch)

1.) Unparalleled utility
2.) Nice amount of workable builds, even within a sub-category (i.e. Condition, Shatter, etc.)
3.) Butterflies.
4.) Mindkitten
5.) Interesting playstyle, for most possible builds
6.) Assuming I ever went Commander – the slow kitten OOC movement speed’s actually a plus, for keeping a Zerg together.
7.) Along with #6, who doesn’t notice the guy with all the purple butterflies?

I’m well on my way to 80 of each class. I think I’m settling down on my thief though. Warrior was fun, but I mostly duo roam with a ranger, and the Warrior doesn’t do a good job at keeping up (I can keep up, but risk everything on cooldown when I need it). I tried ranger, but holy [censored] is that class awful to play. thief compliments the ranger well, has similar mobility, and is fun in both zerg (sb with fire is a lot of damage) and roaming in small to medium g roups.

I have the following classes @ 80: Mesmer, Ele, Necro.

I’m currently levelling and Engi, only level 63 at the moment and I’m really enjoying it. I can take on most level 80’s and beat them with the exception of Mesmers and Ele’s then it’s 50/50

And these are probably why I’m having so much fun:

Pry barring a thief in the face then watching them blow themselves up with confusion by trying to heartseeker me while I block won’t ever get old

I have Thief Engineer Guardian Elementalist at 80 with Warrior a few days away.

If I’m feeling like roaming I choose Thief or Ele depending on who I’m with(if anyone) and the situation of the maps. <3 speed when roaming.

If I’m running in a zerg, Guardian is really fun but Ele is too useful sometimes.

My Engi has fallen behind because quite honestly, I think it’s Anet’s redheaded stepchild and Thief gets too much hate still (which is unwarranted) which makes me leery of investing into it in fear of more future over nerfs. Honestly I’d probably main Engi or Thief if not for the lack of balanced development. <3 those two jobs.

TL;DR If I had to choose just one of the four I’d pick Ele.

I’m looking forward to trying out the OP War build link when I get to 80 though. But who knows what I’ll end up at with Mesmer being my next job to level.

I have 3 level 80s (on my signature) all with 3 sets of exotics each that I swap as needed.

When I feel like roaming/stalking I use my glass cannon gear with the thief, on reset night I usually go with the Ele as it’s more versatile, can use lots of AOE on seige, can do 1v1 when roaming or support a zerg, and each gear I have complements that. And when I feel like running with a zerg or commanding I use my warrior, but he usually has a high thoug/vit gear because of the way I play it.

My favorite hands down is the Elemental as it can adjust to any playstyle with lots of options, but for solo roaming nothing beats the thief. Can’t kill that pesky warrior? Hide and run away!

I’ve only got one toon at 80 – my Mes. But I’ve tried them all except Necro to about level 20.

Recently started an Engi and man I’m lovin it. Who doesn’t like to lob grenades? I haven’t gotten to the pry bar yet – I can’t wait – especially to do it to a thief, that sounds so fun!

Ranger, mostly definitely. The playstyle fits me like a glove.

I have 7 classes @ lvl 80 with all having multiple exotic gear sets. My favorites are my Ele and my guardian. My necro and thief are fun as well. Warrior is overall kinda dull but fun on occasion, and my mesmer and ranger are meh.

All in all, I wish I could “refund” four of the characters I made and the gold I spent on them. Its really sad to think I could have 2-3 characters geared out and enough money to buy/make 1 legendary.

I’ve leveled all classes to 80, and they all have exotics (yes I know, I have no life).

My favorites in WvW are guardian, ele, mesmer. My least favorite is Engi.

Mesmer for both roaming and teamplay. I switch to my necro when mesmer gets stale.

I have eight level 80’s. Why? Probably because I don’t like sticking with one class; they all have situational advantages and disadvantages. Mesmers and thieves seem to be the best suited for roaming, though I am sure every class has some good roaming options.

So far I like my engineer best for roaming (I enjoyed roaming on him even at lvl 35) and my guardian for group play. I have a couple of others at 80, but those two are the ones I enjoy most. I’d probably have to pick the guardian as he’s ideal for playing with my guild which is the best part of WvW for me.
