If you are not inTS you don't matter.

You need to look up Jim Abbott. He’s one of less than 300 people that have thrown a no hitter in MLB. He didn’t demand people make accommodations for him despite being born with 1 hand, he stepped up and showed them what he could do.
Hell the opposing teams would specifically try hitting it to him hoping he couldn’t get his glove on in time, but he would snatch up the ball, pull the glove off with his arm pit, and throw it to first before they could run it.
That’s what happens when a person puts in the effort instead of sitting around complaining that the world owes them something.
You guys are acting like she’s complaining about being deaf and your missing the point. She’s talking about how disgusting she was treated because she was deaf, and also pointing out how nonsensical it is that commanders kick people who aren’t in ts, when there isn’t any reason to do so. She also articulated many good reasons why it actually hurts the squad when they do this in a zerg vs zerg.
I’ve been on CD for maybe a year now through all types of fluctuations and i stay because i love it. It’s home. both my self and my guild even if we are small have poured our hearts into CD. Tonight a blanket statement was made by someone i respect that’s a major voice on CD even if that respect only goes in one direction. That if you don’t use TS than your not an asset because you aren’t really helping. I’m sure a lot of people feel that way. I know its a big help in wvw. But it was really the first time in a year i felt like wow kitten my server.
Even if we were roamers which we aren’t we are a small ops guild of seasoned vets that responds to all major calls from tags and larger guilds for aid. I feel like that’s a pretty big kitten you to people that put in time and effort but don’t use TS. I guess i just needed to vent because if I didn’t i was gonna seethe about it until i moved my entire guild to a new server.
Hello, also on CD I personally respect anyone in WvW as long as they are not afk pip farming. Anyways I wouldnt take this statment to heart. It was probably a commander that was upset with being wiped over and over. They were probably upset about half or more of their zerg not sticking to tag or what have you. We all know getting on TS when in a large zerg helps keep the group alive. I hope that you can get past the statment but you have the right to vent. Good luck and I look forward to seeing you on the battlefield!
If you are running on a Zerg, I agree that using TS is mandatory, so you do not happen to be in a zerg of 50/50 and have only 10 people in TS, and you are decimated in 10sec, because zerg has split At the time of Bomb / regrup / heal. You do not have to talk, just listen to what the Commander says.
I’m from Brazil, I barely speak English, I enter TS, I do not speak a word, but I understand the commander’s battle orders.
So TS in Zerg and Battles, in my point of view is mandatory or would not enter the Zerg / group.
Now if you are not with Zerg, continue as cool as you can and be happy.
Yes, I used the translator … kkkk

No that’s not it at all.
We are pointing out that being a commander isn’t a paid position. Hell most of them are shelling out their own money for siege so they are losing gold or breaking even at best. This means they are under no obligation to let anyone in the squad that they don’t want in it.
People can complain that it’s mean or unfair all they want but it’s still the commanders choice who they allow in their squad. Crying to anet to remove that choice from commanders just means fewer people would end up tagging up.
Complaining that being kicked from a squad means “they can’t play at all” is just kitten. They can run solo, they can group up with the other people that were kicked, they can tag up themselves and form a squad that’s run on their rules, they can hop maps and find a different tag to follow.
Deciding to spend hours harassing every one on the server because of the choice of 1 person is one of the worst choices they could have made, and it should come as no surprise why they are now being ostracized….. and yet somehow they seem surprised that they are.

Yeah… No.
I’ll give her that bad treatment she got when she won’t go to TS. However, she also disgustingly retaliated in map chat for hours, if recall what I read correctly. If she had acted in a more civil way and took the high road, I would’ve sided with her on this. But she did not.
Clearly, you don’t know what you are talking about with regards to squad WvW play. Boons and Stunbreaker prioritization – research it. I’d rather have my boons and other support skills prioritize those who are in voice comms and therefore in the squad and therefore knows what the commander is trying to achieve during the mayhem of fighting than someone who is in the squad but not on voice comms that could very well be a liability and get my support skills wasted.

We have some comnanders that do not speak English as a primary language.
But they try anyways. And get on ts. And it is appreciated.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.

It’s funny because I was thinking that a pitcher could possibly do this, but I said to myself at the time of writing the above, “nah, I doubt that’s happened.”
Does not detract from the point; these things can be overcome if and when one doesn’t hide behind one’s shortcomings as an excuse not to do better.

Absolutely agree. You should still look up Jim Abbott though, the man is awesome. I’m kind of amazed they haven’t made a movie about him yet but you can find a bunch of stuff on youtube.

I agree that we all should strive to overcome as much as we can, but lets be careful not to see excuses everywhere. Sometimes, excuses are actually legitimate explanations that we don’t want to see or acknowledge.
Also, let’s refrain using anecdotes to make comparisons and generalize. The quasi totality of anecdotes you can read on the Interwebs (that you can boil down to, X could do it, what is your excuse not to) are full of cherry picking that make the comparison completely invalid when you take a closer look into it.
If someone can do something that seems extraordinary, that 99 out of 100 can’t or won’t, you can be pretty sure that there is something you lack to understanding what is required to operate a comparison on a common denominator. Any other kind of comparison is kitten.
That being said, nobody has to play with people they do not want to play, including squad leaders that can kick whoever they care. People, including commanders asking for voice com, should stick with what they have power over and let go of the rest.

It think that is what the bulk of the people here are saying. Most of us don’t expect someone that is hearing impaired to get in TS, but that doesn’t mean the commander should be forced to bring a person along that can’t or won’t meet their requirements for the squad.
