Customer : Excuse me, developer.. I have found a bug that causes the entire credibility of the system to be questionable..
Me : Of course dear customer, we’ll look into it…

… some time passes …

Customer : Any update? This is getting really out of hand..
Me : Well, I didn’t fix the bug at all, but I changed the user interface, so all is looking prettier now..
Customer : ……

How long would it take, you think, before my boss fires me for acting on my own without listening to my customer? Indeed..

Now, little excercise: Replace Customer with Playerbase and change Me to ANet and re-read..

Sorry, but as someone with knowledge of multiple programming languages, I find this really ignorant.
GW2 is a friggan huge program. 16GB on the client side, and who knows how big on the server side. That’s an insane amount of code to look through, and bugs can arise from things as small as period in the wrong place. Not to mention, a program like this would be spread over hundreds of files. This doesn’t even get into the modelling end. Maps are huge and intricate. It’s not like debugging is twisting some knob. Large programs are riddled with bugs, and it can take months of man hours to single out and fix a single one. Some bugs can even be created in fixing other bugs. Debugging everything is a pipedream.

I think you miss the point here..
It’s not about how hard it can/will be to find certain bugs, it’s just that apparently they can find the time to indulge us with stuff we don’t need (also additional coding, btw) instead of fixing the bugs that are ruining (certain aspects of) the game..

That’s them making sure they progress while they working on bugs. If they spent 100% of their resources on bugs, this game wouldn’t get any new content or balance changes for at least a year. What they do is have some work on the bugs and some work on the content.
