Initiative bug in WvW?
There are traits and signets when all used together can give you practically infinite initiative.
i.e. – Working as intended, not a bug.

That isn’t true at all. Go back and read the list of thief traits on the wiki site.

Not true there is that, 2 initiative regen every 10 seconds (from a trait), signet that is 1 initiative regen every 10 seconds, another trait that gives you 3 initiative everytime you use steal, another one that gives you 2 initiative everytime you stealth.. another one that gives you faster initiative regen in stealth.. and so on. you can spec to have basically unlimited initiative.
i must admit in the last 3/4 days of WvW there are a tons of thief with pistol/dagger spamming cloack and dagger + the #1 of pistol spamming bleeds……
This would not be a problem,but they are PERMANENT in hide…..
I fight only invisible enemy….this is providing super frustration….because if not for this permanent hide they would run away or die miserably.
And yes….seems they have infinite initiative….but it’s only an impression,because after CnD they just spam #1 ….lol…an impegnative gameplay…
So to answer,there is no bug,they just don’t use a lot of initiative spamming CnD (that allow 4 sec of hide offcombat + another 5 sec of hide IN COMBAT due to rendering) + spam #1.

Because we can’t get init back, and CnD is our only stealth ability, amirite?

Well, he listed “HB” and “Discharge”, neither of which are thief skills in English. I can only conclude that he’s playing in another language and the translations are different. HB could be HS (Heartseeker), but Discharge?
He used the same names elsewhere on the forums, but heck if I know what he’s referring to.

discharge is unload.
Unload is easy to explain. It takes forever to use so you naturally pull in a lot of initiative regen during the time it takes to burn an Unload. High hit volume also means Unload will usually pull in 1 bonus initiative from the crit trait line proc. Added together you can expect to regen 3~ initiative during the course of Unload, making the actual net cost a mere 2 initiative. Now getting off 5-6 of them with a pool of 12-15 initiative doesn’t sound so hard, does it?
Heartseeker is less about the skill itself and more about the play style and mindset of people who spam Heartseeker. You said 7-8 in a row, which would be 21-24 initiative over the course of 5/6 seconds. Accounting for initiative regen over those 5/6 seconds would give a pool of 16-22~ initiative. The gap is easily filled by taking the Init-on-Signet trait which allows you to eat your utilities for more initiative. If your goal is to spam Heartseeker you’re obviously going to go for these kind of traits.
You can’t just look at the pool of Initiative as a hard cap on spammability, you have to look at how much is going to be regenerated over the course of spamming those skills. If you can push initiative regen up beyond what it costs to spam a skill and sustain that amount of regen, you can spam a skill forever.
Quaggan says thieves have limited initiative…
I know my thief gets loads of initiative, but not infinite.
Mainly because I can stealth 3-4 times via skills, and stealthing gives 2 initiative with ‘infusion of shadow’ trait. My main way is 3 death blossom, stealth from stealing and 1 more death blossom, and then another stealth and blossom if I have another stealth from the ability I stole.
Add to that Shadow Refuge, which can give you back all your initiative with that trait, it really is nice and almost op in my opinion.
Since CnD (I don’t use it much) gives stealth, you get 2 initiative back from the cost of 5 from CnD, and with your time in stealth regaining initiative, it can become just about infinite yes.
