Janthir is the most overachieving server in the game. We do more with less than anyone else

Yep. Which is why guilds who play during those times and who are looking to move would be crazy not to pick IoJ. I’ve seen what you guys can do without the coverage, looking forward to seeing what you can do with it. Even though I still love Jade Quarry so I’ll be on the receiving end of it.

You know what’s the annoying part about the Halloween update? The lack of people who realize they can still complete their monthlies in WvW. Hell, it’s even easier to do it in WvW it feels like, as the mining bonuses we’ve been earning mean that you often get two candy corn per pick swing, and there are about three nodes per base or camp that reset once every hour or two, so you can take them whenever you finish helping your team capture something.

i know, theres literally candy corn nodes everywhere in WvW.

Also this match is basically over, we have no late night/mid-day coverage on weekdays, neither does Janthir it seems.

Well really it was the best WvW weekend I’ve been in guys.
Hopefully we can do it again next week =)

I do wish though that the matches were 3 days long instead of a week.

I think the halloween event kind of boned SBI for this week. As soon as it hit everyone sort of put WvW on the wayside. I guess the JQ folks don’t really care about it as much. It’s still going to be the closest T1 match that I’ve seen and I’m sure next week things will tighten up again.

too many PvE’ers in IoJ and SBI now the lead is increasing for JQ T.T grr at the bad timing of this matchup

JQ does love some WvW so I’m not surprised they’re having less trouble getting people in. Plus, JQ has been highest rank since HoD dissolved, so there’s a lot of people who are really passionate about maintaining that. To say JQ hasn’t fought well to be in this position is a bit unfair. This week shows that any of these servers has a good shot at winning, and I can’t wait to see who will be the next to do it.

I hope from an IoJ perspective we have demonstrated we are close to top tier material. Just need a bit more coverage at some times of the day and a few more weekday players.

Tactically we are still a bit behind JQ and SBI (I generalise here of course as some of our guilds are way better).

I often see unprotected siege being erected in hard to defend places and the majority of the mob hooning around in front of the gates. Watch a savvy guild setup, first up are arrow carts and ballista, then comes the cat’s and or trebs (with or without rams). They are setup in defensible harder to hit poistions and their whole horde defends the siege, traps, wards, aoe etc to protect from raids from within or sweepers.

This always appears to those not in a hardcore guild as inefficient and overkill. But you only need to lose your siege once or twice and doing it properly is very obiously the best approach to a well defended keep.

Dedicated supply zerger’s, dolly campers and having eyes early on white swords and orange swords.

IoJ got close to glory in this cycle and I hope we picked up a whole bunch of new / better ways. I hope we see this in next weeks match. May take a few cycles of bobbing up and down before we can truly muscle up with the big boys.

I play during EST 8am-5pm-ish hours (SBIBL) and we had out-manned quite a bit during the day. Made an entertaining run on garrison with a “why the heck not” as our warcry when we could only muster 9 of us for the whole map lol… we ended up in retreat but didn’t lose anyone.

While out-manned we decided to grab NE tower. First run was unsuccessful (barely) but 3 of us played last man standing holding off SBI as long as we could on the bridge… hoping the guys had the cap in time… no avail that run, but we came back and went through the wall that time.

we did have the “unfortunate for someone”, pleasure of dropping an Omega during mid build… I don’t think we have any SS to share but we did all say a little prayer for the lost Golem soul.

To the 2 SBI gents who thought they had me locked at Stargrove today, I /salute and /bowed if you saw it. It was really close.

Hrm, it’s unfortunate that the Halloween event came during this match. I have to admit that I am among those who would rather explore the limited time content than WvW.

Regardless, it’s very reassuring to know that a match like we had this weekend with 3 totally viable T1 servers is possible. It makes me smile even though I will probably not be participating much more this week…

Its our BL, you have to expect a certain degree of double teaming (that isn’t intentional or organised).

I don’t think we have, in the short history of the game, allied with SBI …. 3 way war means most the time #1 gets focus fire and sometimes it just feels like focus fire when it’s just points of convenience.

2v1 is always opportunistic… Nobody complained on the forums when JQ saved anzalias (IoJ tower) from SBI on monday!

It is true that while WvW is non-stop, Halloween does come once a year. Let people have their candy first.

I think the matchup will pick up again come Thursday and Friday (people will be done with Halloween stuff by then I hope).

Plus, I’m pretty sure closing the WvW matchup with an equal pie is a tempting goal for SBI and IOJ.

We started this matchup with an awesome competitive spirit, all three servers. Let’s not spoil it, and let’s keep it up to the end. That’s what matters most IMO.

We had a great night tonight once again in EB. Major props to SBI for being a royal pain in our butts :P

I’m not sure who was there for when we took SM, but I think we can ALL agree that was an epic battle.

Yes is was as well as a epic lag fest, most of us pulled out especially when a barrage was taking 35 seconds to complete…

You guys had that too? I don’t get the huuuge lag at SM. We were capping it the other day and the lords room was total chaos because of the crazy lag that made skills take like 10 seconds to activate. Strange thing is I’ve been in fights with wayy more people and it never lagged like that. Anet should check into it.

Yup, SM has always been a lag fest. Just zoning in to an empty SM drops my fps to 30fps from 60fps outside.. Don’t even mention the lag when casting skills during a big fight in the lords room.

IoJ has seemed to lost most of it’s presence in WvW after the event hit, and JQ took advantage of this. JQ saw you as weak, took almost all of your borderlands, and went on to hold it for hours unchallenged.

SBI guys saw this, and said, “We can’t let them have all of that for free.”

It’s unfortunate, but please, blame your server before you accuse SBI and JQ for double-teaming. It’s a childish accusation, and it’s incredibly silly to use that excuse for the reason IoJ is losing.

IoJ was doing this “double-teaming” thing (it’s not double-teaming, it’s war) during the weekend against SBI, but that’s not what SBI thought it was. They thought it sucked, but knew why. SBI was probably an easier target than JQ for IoJ.

Over the weekend we had tons of people in W V W because lots hardly slept and played through till we had enough people on to continue the push. Over that time points were very close with 100-300 points between 1st and last place. Come Monday it was clear that JQ would win the week due to their huge off peak player base – if you are too stupid to see that well there are no pills for stupidity. There were great fights had for all.

But come Tuesday it was clear when logging in and seeing 90% of W v W green what the issue is. Now as to people going on about whose time is more important than others this is a US server thereby making it clear what time zones are on and off peak times. I don’t rely mind too much 90% of SBI does not want 1st place (we don’t want all the rubbish free loaders coming here and screwing over our server) we have a great server, we have proven that during our prime times we are the best by far even against HENGE in their prime we would drive them back and win. JQ exactally the same. SBI has the better players, commanders and attitude. Others just need the free loaders to win

Obviously losing brings out the worst of some people. SBI has a great community, don’t make them look bad. This is a game, relax and enjoy the competition. It has been fun all week, focusing on the numbers too much will ruin your fun.

BTW the epic lagfest brawl in SM today was crazy!

What’s the latest score? After last nights double team from SBI and IoJ (which was a blast, by the way, this isn’t a criticism…) I was wondering how things were looking. Haven’t had a chance to log on… stupid work.

By the way, I was on IoJ BL last night while you all were hitting Bay, our last bastion of goodness and free will. What a blast that was having to keep it against such pressure. We had rams to the left, golems to the right, there we were… stuck in the middle with queue. I regretted having to go offline for sleep…

Don’t think I wasn’t tempted… but I’m a programmer that works in a building that tends to be quasi-thermally regulated… in the afternoon it gets a little too warm. After a late night, the soporific effect truly shines.

Easily, this matchup with SBI and IoJ has been the most fun I’ve had personally in WvW to date.

Can we get a score update? Interested to see where we are this morning.

In the first four days we demonstrated that we could fight with the top. We fought against two servers who had fought for weeks as Tier 1s. Then when they fell, they decided to construct a WvW server.

This was actually done by taking the guilds that had their frustration in WvW and joining the WvW server that had the most active WvW. IoJ has a balance that I enjoy and I believe that we chose well.

Halloween comes once and a year and due to the event, a lot of IoJ players are taking full advantage and leveling new characters and having fun with the Halloween event. Guild Wars is Guild Wars, not just WvW.

If I would have thought this game would have only been about World vs World, I would have never bought this game and I would have just continued in First Person Shooters.

I’ve had the most fun in WvW playing against SBI and JQ. I don’t really give a kitten about the score difference. What I care about actually is the Potential Point difference.

Sometimes each side has pulled ahead and I managed to see the most amazing plays in this game from the servers that had restrictions. IoJ and our ability to maintain ourselves when we have no orbs to our name. JQ and how they defended when they had their unmanned buff. The days where SBI came from behind in each map simultaneously.

All in All its quite nice.

After the usual weekend drop off we were still out there and doing well. We weren’t in first but we held our own and were still putting up a fight. Then this god kitten pve event happened and that was the final nail in the coffin for this match. Oh well, better luck next time. Regardless this past weekend was one of the best WvW experiences I’ve had since DAOC. Let’s keep fighting IOJ!

Yea there have been periods throughout the weekend, usually in very busy places ie 3 guilds fighting over garrison where lag has ben horrible. I do not ever remember where it has been that bad previous to this week. Actions not firing off etc

Welcome to tier 1. It is like that a lot on any of the maps when more than 40 show up for a fight. I have seen fights in the garrison lords court where everyone is invisible, even your own players and all 60-80 players are just spamming AoEs trying to hit something, lol. And, even then it can take 10 seconds for a skill to go off.

I’ve noticed that during the lagfest in SM (especially last night), my F1-F4 abilities will simply never go off. Other abilities may lag like crazy or take forever to go off but at least they will eventually fire.

Hopefully they can come up with some fix for that situation b/c it makes SM battles nearly impossible.

I’ve been enjoying this thread. Calling people cheaters for playing at a certain time of day… SMH. JQ looks like they’re the superior world. It’ll be interesting which of the next 4 in line can defeat them. I just hope Blackgate doesn’t get stuck fighting HoD and ET again… god this is boring.

So yea it is new this week for me. I have had lag ofc but I never had abilities not fire until we had a three way in garrison on Sat.
I have had 3 ways in bay with no issues

I just wanted comment on some experiences in this WvWvW match up. This is my first WvWvW in this game and it reminded me a lot of the battles that happened in Ragnarok Online in there War of the Emperium. I am a member of the Island of Janthir that plays an Asuren Mesmer.

I want to say that it’s been an intoxicating experience that has left my wallet a little light of it’s gold. When I first joined over the weekend it was battles all over the field and it was basically a tug of war between different areas. It was intense and almost got my monthly achievement in the 4 hours of fighting.

On Monday our server on the red borderlands where keeping it even and just took our tower back at Cliffside when the Halloween update hit. After the 2 hour patch and logging on to support our server I found that we lost near almost all of camps (I think our keep was also taken) and there where hardly anyone from IoJ on the IoJ borderlands. Jade quarry was able to mount what seemed like blitz assault before we could muster our forces and mount a counter assault.

Late last night (6 pm eastern) I logged on and it seemed we where beating back the tide of green that was Jade Quarry and some how on the IoJ border lands we manage to take out a section of outer wall at Dreaming Bay and joined a few assault forces in an attempt to take the orb from DB. Each assault was repelled by a large group of Jade Quary members(Seemed most of the people where from FIRE). For some reason our Commanders /Leaders keept running up the ramparts of the outer wall and squat on the little hill that connects the north and east gate. Each time we ran up the wall we got swarmed and beaten off by the Jade Quarry forces.

About 9 PM eastern we finally had a force storm the center keep but it seemed NO ONE had brought any siege or supplies. This lead to being beaten off again and so on. I manage to get my Mesmer close to the inner keep and well hidden trying to rally a group to attack the center keep but I think we lost the will to fight at DB. Also later that night we had an update and got zerged by Jade Qurry in the first 5 minuets at Longview (25 person group), while we only had 6-10 people logged in at out Garrison. Seems like updates destroy our servers lead.

Though I would have to say when ever I was at IoJ borderlands there was not many people organizing raids or groups and mostly people clumping with other people when they happen to be in one area. I almost want to say there was a lot of “Faffing” about and no real goal other then “Protect Godsword”, “Take Astralholme/Ahra’s hope”, and “Stop stealing supplies from the tower/garrison”.

Regardless of what happens I still think this is an awesome server and that no hard feelings to Jade Quarry and Stormbluff Isles (Even though Jade Quarry stole our orb and locked it up tight) and look forward to rematch without updates/events that interrupt our momentum.
