This change is really a bad idea…. It was the only way to make the npc on the camp a little more usefull… At least with this guild upgrade the npc was helping a little more…
NPC are so useless since the power upgrade… Even T3 camp are so easy to take…

I’m guessing this change was for the solo people and smaller havoc groups.

Imagine if you will, 1-3 people going to take a spawn camp that’s been held for an hour. First, they encounter guards, scouts, cabalists and zealots, same as before only now made of iron. Second, they draw white swords causing 1 defender to jump down from their perch at south Bay to go investigate. The scout may find half the guards dead and the circle up with the attacker(s) maybe on the verge of death, but the scout pulls chilling fog anyway because he’s just that cool. Third, somehow the attacker(s) survive all of that, but get killed by the zerg that’s now come in to steal their prize.

The point is, with all the available options, it’s no longer necessary for a scout to babysit a camp, and it’s less likely for that same camp to take less than 5 people to attempt to cap.

This change will get defenders patrolling again by taking away a small slice of the defenders peace of mind, it will teach roamers of varying skill levels that sometimes you just have to go for it even if there is no backup coming, and it’s a small step towards spreading the pop of a map out rather than them running as 1 blob to each objective.

HazyDaisy.4107, people wont stop blobling camps because of these it will even be faster lol… every one spam 1 key and every mob is dead, camps are now guarded by trash mobs not even get delayed on grabbing camp :P

if not, this is easier for every one solo or cluster.

iron guards costs like 3g thanks to the flax fibers… people wasted 3g on a camp that is guaranteed to flip to a group of 5+ when groups of 20+ are common?

Iron guards on north camps feeding 3 structures? Yes, 3G was worth it, especially when you are outnumbered during “ze nightcap”.

I’m not happy with this change either. It’s the stacked servers who have the numbers to run sniping roamers 24/7 anyway.. so nerfing this just gives them another advantage. You still had to protect it until the upgrade was available to be slotted anyway. If you got it that far, Iron Guards was a reward to the defender of camp… you know.. so they could not be locked to a camp forever.. and you know.. spread out round the map a bit more.

Better alternative might have been to reduce the costs for this upgrade for camps and maybe also reduce the buff as well. This way it can still be used by defenders to buy time, against small groups/roamers, because obviously it would not stop a zerg. Camps get flipped constantly, more then any other objective, therefore having a bunch of expensive upgrades that take a long time to apply was counterproductive.

I say what needs to be said, get used to it.

Even with iron guard T3 camp can be flipped very easy and very fast with only 2 people… The iron guard upgrade was just here to buy little time or to help if you join fast enough before all guard are killed…
Without the iron guard you need to perma scout the camp if you want to hold it because the time the cross spawn on the map all guard are already dead ! Maybe the veteran is always alive, but not with a lot of life…

What we needed for the camp was Iron Guard for camp…. Upgrade less expensive and that you can only apply on camp.

And to be able to apply sabotage depot AND another passive upgrade (like for doly or iron guard) was a good thing…

Now they should at least apply Iron Guard on every camp soon you take it without guild upgrade… NPC are really really too weak !

^^^^ This. Depending on the build IGs were still not a sure fire way to defend but it was an option that could slow down some, why not leave it in place. I get the other changes but not this one. What numbers did ANet see that said this one needs to go?

Because a Yolo Solo should totally be able to completely undo something it took the coordination of an entire server to accomplish over at least 60 minutes in a timespan of less than 60 seconds.

Absolutely! Even more so if that yolo soloer was one of the old manual upgraders that watched time and again as their money was washed down the drain because their entire server didn’t care enough to protect a pre HOT fully upgraded camp.

The upgrade is fine, the cost is crazy, like all other upgrade…
The problem is that anet make something completly broken with guild upgrade and guild hall…
This is just a huge grind wall….

They make us a small gift with the free upgrade, but give us guild upgrade who cost way lot more…

Something like iron guard should cost 0.5 gold maximum…. The most expansive should be presence of the keep / emergency WP at 1 Gold max !

The problem is the difficulty to unlock guild aura / upgrade and the cost… Not the upgrade…
