Q:
Is Maguuma tanking this match to get to T4?
Can’t speak for anyone else. But I was not at my own house this weekend.
Problem with Maguuma is that if we are not winning against the likes of CD/EB our fairweather players that show up in T4 disappear.
I haven’t wvwed since before the latest matchup, but I doubt anyone is actively trying to get back to t4 now. There’s just no point. If we drop, all our fairweathers come out and we zerg all over t4 and it’s a terrible matchup.
It’s just terrible wvw regardless of if we’re in t3 or t4, and I’m pretty sure most people have either accepted t3, or left.
Maguuma
A: No.
The answer is no, we are not intentionally tanking. We do as well as DB in the daytime, but DB have the SEA timezone to get points in. TC just have a much, much, much larger NA force. Larger than FA for sure.
Well, last week you all kicked some butt down in Tier 4. The week before, you tanked in T3. And now, this week, you are tanking again in T3.
You guys are doing worse against the T3 folks than Yak’s did against T3, yet you cleaned up against Yak’s. Logically, that does not compute unless you are tanking on purpose; Or, of course, have the fair-weather players that only log into WvWvW if you are winning or are close to it.
Sucks either way.

This post assumes your experience against FA is equal to our experience to TC. Maybe we can swap places next week and Yaks can show us how its done!!

TC has better coverage than FA.
I also think the new guild missions might have a little itty bit to do with the points too.
We do lose a lot of fairweathers in T3, yes. We had some huge morale issues on Friday for various reasons that you don’t need to know about. If that means you keep thinking we’re doing it on purpose then oh well.
We have a lot of fairweathers, I think. I don’t know how anyone would go about disseminating instructions to intentionally lose a match. We’re not a hive-mind.

Fair enough. I would just hate to continue to see Mag and Yak’s ping-ponging back and forth bewteen T3 and T4 every week.

It only makes sense that that’s what happens. yaks/db/mag have roughly the same NA coverage, but have never been able to settle into their own tier. The only reason DB doesn’t juggle like we do is the SEA coverage. Maybe SoS will change things when they go below t2.
Yaks did squared off against TC way before Mags. Anyways, hows Yak’s population? Is it more or less the same when TC left T3?

TC got bigger, Mag got bigger, Yaks got smaller.

I would prefer playing YB/DB and possibly SoS (assuming they can hang with the 2 servers I mentioned or not blow us out of the water with #s) than these current kitten of the glicko flip flop point system.

Yes, I think it’s about the same as when we were up against TC and FA (together) in the past. Might have even grown a bit.
Our “night-time” coverage is still lacking, however.
Did the OP really just compare two servers in a tier when said two servers are facing different opponents? What the actual kitten? Not to sound rude but how can you say “logically, that does not compute” when there’s a variable in the mix? I don’t even….
The devs don’t care about WvW so I’m gonna kill players in PvE!
Yaks B was one of the first servers I fought when I started WvWing. TCs map chat was constantly filled with people saying good things about them and it confused me lol … I mean weren’t they supposed to be the enemy? It was only later I understood why.
Looking forward to seeing these fine folks soon if the glicko permits
I do not think we’re losing on purpose. Yes, there are likely fair weather players who only show up to karma train when we’re dominating tier four, but I think Maguuma’s lack of any sort of night crew really dooms us. I’m one of the few NA players whose sleep schedule is so weird that I’m still playing at 4:00 am. Just this weekend, I was on very late and our total points per tick reached a low of +25, as we only held one keep in EB. Even in our own borderlands, I was one of maybe a half-dozen people on the map, and on said map we owned nothing except a few sentries, and we’d periodically take camps that were then immediately recaptured.
During NA prime time we can hold our own for the most part, so I’ve really begun to believe that the night crew that we lack is making the difference. Now, that’s not to say that I’m complaining; if other servers have a night crew and we don’t, all the power to them. I’m just (hopefully) offering up an explanation of why we lose so violently every time we peek into tier three.

Did you just post without having any foreknowledge that the OP’s comparison was valid?
You need to re-look at the past matchups. Yak’s did in fact face the same servers you did and vice versa. We went up to T4 and you dropped to T3 without the other servers moving (that one time, spanning 2 weeks) This week, you get TC instead of FA while we, again, get Ebay and CD.

Your “night” crew on T4 was many more than what you are stating when you went up against Yak’s in the past. I guess they too can fall victim to the “fair-weather” fighters.
Yak’s has it’s share of these as well; I’d venture to say most have them, it’s a matter of to what degree.
From what I’ve seen of Maguuma, their people are fighting pretty darn hard in the maps they can field numbers on. It’s just that TC on the other hand has exploded with massive 4-map queues every single day with some long-suffering map completionists finally getting their WvW completion after over 2 months in T2…
It seems like TC will be staying in T3 for at least another week, and I’ll expect the numbers to equalize a bit as the rush of map completionists slows down. Some of my favorite weeks of WvW were against Yak’s Bend so population advantage or no I hope that will be a fun matchup worth looking forward to!
Mags numbers are way down, but like I said in another thread, it’s actually the regulars that aren’t showing up. I think there’s just a WvW burnout at the moment, but it should pass.
If wvw offered any worthwhile rewards it might see a surge on Mag but even then most of our players are gone by 4am until 3pm est.
