Q:
Is a transfer worth it?
If all you do is die and walk then you are doing something wrong. You need to find out what that is and do something to fix it.
I play on a lower wvw tier, and there is still blobbing, albeit less than on the higher tiers (I started on TC and did wvw as that server went up through the ranks). I can’t say there was a huge difference in the quality of wvwvw at lower ranks. The meta probably moves faster at the higher ranks, but it’s still very present in the middle tiers.
That’s just my perspective. I haven’t done wvw in a while, due to being burnt out with the blobbing and builds.
Your problem is partly due to you, and partly due to the server you play on. Warriors need to stick with the commander & the melee train. If you are running around trying to get extra swings in, and dying before the commander wipes, then something’s wrong with how you’re playing or how you have built your warrior.
The other part of the problem is your server, TC. TC lacks leadership, even those that play on TC admits so. It’s quite possible you are following commanders that lead to your death. If that’s the case, start learning who’s a good commander and who isn’t. There are smart commanders that know when to withdraw, when to run, and they make the right calls on where to attack and where to leap in. This is something you’ll have to watch yourself, and hooking up with a good, active WvW guild will really help.
Pugging is always sort of “play at your own risk” kind of thing. You can’t expect people to have your back, you can’t expect to have ele drop the water where you need it, and people certainly aren’t going to peel for you. Being in a guild or running with a good commander will help with all of that.
As for whether you should server transfer, hard to say. Going from T1 server to others, you’ll find less blobbing, a bit less action especially during non-primetime hours. This likely also means if you don’t hook up with a guild, you’ll likely get ganked even more because there would be more smaller roaming groups running around ganking. So think hard before you transfer there, and see if you should convince your friend to transfer to TC instead.
Your problem seems to be a lack of understanding regarding wvw, tactics, strategy, build setups, gear, etc. If your constantly dying obviously its you doing something wrong, its an open battlefield, regardless of server. Its not something a casual player can just jump into with no knowledge of and expect to have a good time, its not pve with scripted and predicted monster attacks and locations.
Also TC, and the other T1 servers are not all about whoever has the biggest zerg, I see small groups taking towers and keeps and putting up great fights everyday.
What I would recommend for you, is to actually spend some time learning about wvw, if your not thinking about what your doing when following a group, your not helping yourself. When following a commander, watch the route they take to an objective, watch the siege placement, learn their tactics ie veils, waterfields, when to push etc etc. Dont just follow and mindlessly autoattack and hope you win.
Transfering servers wont solve your problems, you might run into less people, but your fundamental problem is a lack of understanding regarding wvw. Go learn, ask someone to teach you, go online, there are TONS of guides on youtube and many fan run websites for builds etc. Good luck.

I don’t know how transferring works, but he states that TC is always full and he cannot transfer here. I would really like for him to come to TC, but that may not be possible.

OP stated hes on TC now, transferring basically allows you to play wvw on a different server, pve/pvp is essentially the same since megaservers, and guild functions are all cross server now. It costs 1800 gems to transfer to a server with a very high pop which every NA server is with exception to the full ones.

Northern Shiverpeaks could use more people. T1 is blob vs blob. You may find smaller scale fights in silver league but you may come across the odd T3 matchup vs a blob server. Then there’s the possibility that you may never be able to transfer back to T1 once you move.
I would go for having you move to servers that need people rather than having your friends/family try to move onto a T1 server. You would be helping to bring balance as well as playing with your friends.
I’ve kind of figured out how some of this works, and being on TC, is seems to come down to whoever has the biggest blob. Playing a frontliner I frequently die and it can be hard to link up with friends. I spend more time walking instead of fighting.
Is this a troll? You’re in tier 1, we all have blobs. Get a better build, learn to dodge and use your invulnerabilities like everyone else.
People get really hostile for no reason whatsoever. He said he is a casual player so you can’t expect him to know everything and be pro like the rest of you guys. If you show him the ropes maybe, one day, he will be as amazing as you are.
Either way, if you are having trouble surviving you could start by posting your build and mayhaps we could help you out with tweaking it.
If you don’t survive you just aren’t lame enough. Just use some boring lamer build and you can afk in fight.
