Is support participation bugged in WvW?
The WvWvW reward track participation for doing solo roaming seems to have dropped significantly. I don’t know why Arenanet needs to punish solo roaming so hard. It is difficult to get full +195 participation even if you flip a supply camp for every tick.
I advice: Join your commander’s squad. Follow him and attack the same targets or do your job flipping camps and reporting enemy moments. Works for me when I am following another commander or tagging up myself (though I consider myself more of a PPT commander than open field fight commander).
You will pretty soon have “your inventory is full” message on screen. ;-)

You could always ask the commander to make you a scout. It costs them nothing and those spaces are wasted if not used anyways. Keeping track of the dot when you roam is pretty good info especially if it intermingles with enemy dots. =p

To my knowledge healing and giving boons has never had any effect in giving loot in WvWvW. You must inflict enough damage on the opponents in order to have a chance of receiving loot. When capturing objectives you must either kill enough guards, damage the gate/walls, damage the lord or stand in the capture circle to qualify for participation.
Still this doesn’t mean that playing an altruistic build is a bad idea in WvWvW. If you can keep your group alive, you are more likely to get more loot bags compared to just wiping again and again and running back from spawn. Unless you know what you are doing, I recommend to equip your character with sturdy set of runes (Durability, Melandru, Hoelbrak, Trooper etc) and armor (soldier, celestial, sentinel, nomad, knight, dire, wanderer, trailblazer etc).

Actually you could get loot only by supporting, but it only worked first two (or three) months. Ever played revenant?
Atm it seems to work only with npc guards, they can get tagged even if you dont damage them at all.

Can confirm that just healing/sharing boons doesn’t net you as much bags but I still do get the events like dolyak kills etc even by just tagging a little.
