I took 24000 damage from one just yesterday from the splitshot and something about that seems fishy considering I have 2.1k toughness on my build.

Where you standing right in front it? A spreadshot fires many, if you get hit by all of them… yeah, it should insta kill you.

Imho, basic siege should be even stronger. It makes most people *shrug at it. For example, if a Treb explosion actually did damage to players it might make Ele’s think twice about standing in the blast while waiting for their Swirling Winds CD to go off.

The fact that siege is something you should look for is part of what adds the missing element to WvW.

Were you standing next to siege from your team? Balistas hit siege hard, and used to be that you would take just as much damage as the siege did, but that was supposed to have been fixed already. Somewhere between 4k and 6k is pretty common damage normally in open field (also depends on gear, upleveled or not etc).

He’s talking about spreadshot, which is one of the new abilities with the WvW rankings for the Ballista. It is incredibly strong if an enemy gets within close/melee range.

If you are standing in front of the ballista at close range, you can get hit by many of the bolts causing massive damage.

Moral of the story:
Don’t melee a manned ballista.

^This. You AoE them to death.

Really, if you take a shot from any ballista shot, you should be dead. Pretty big bolt going through you.

Same should go for all siege lobbing very large projectiles.

Agreed. Siege should be much more powerful to players than it is, by far. Bring more tactics back into WvW :P.

Yeah, standing in an ac barrage is basically no different than standing in a hard rain. In fact, my toon likes standing in them to clean herself off after a hard fight. Blows off the dust pretty well but that’s about it.

Considering what a ballista is/does in real world terms we are lucky they don’t knock back and pin us to the environment behind(although that would be really cool).
