Guild Wars 2

So a few of my friends are already into WvW, but they play on a full server.. Is there any way to get into a full server anymore? I know they used to drop to “Very High” before they changed the population system or something.. But does it still do that? Should I be checking every night at 3am?

No. You shouldn’t try to check at 3am. It won’t open up for like a few minutes.
It will only be open when it is truly not full.

Ways to play with your friends-

-they can transfer to an open server to join you

-they can create a free alt account on your server to join you

We all transferred to another server. Didn’t like having to do that but would rather play together. ANet has a legendary game but the devs/marketing go out of their way to make it a crappy experience sometimes.

Also Full servers to my knowledge never open up. The population tiers seem to be locked across all time-zones.

I said they could create accounts to join him (assuming he is on a server that isn’t full)

I don’t think they’re all willing to shell out money to transfer off a server they’re comfortable with.

They made a huge mistake by ignoring population problems/letting even the lower server being counted as “very high” for too long
In general they made a mistake by leaving wvw unattended for too long. We were fine during that time though, but the changes made to the game, and now probably wvw, are the least of what wvw needed.
So, I don’t blame them for players not being able to move to full servers right now – it had to happen at some point.

Good luck on finding a solution…wish the current Map Mechanic would allow players like you to still play together, but unfortunately…it doesn’t.

A “Full” server is a server with a number of Active WvW Players (as defined by the algorithm) above a certain threshold. It has nothing to do with hardware limitations, or PvE players.

The “Full” threshold is slightly different than the other ones because it doesn’t have an upper limit. So some servers can be just slightly above the threshold and marked “Full”, and some other servers might be well over it, and also marked “Full”, even though their populations aren’t really balanced.

The intent is that since you can’t join or transfer to a “Full” server, their populations are going to diminish over time, until eventually they reach “Very High” again. At this point, all “Full” servers are going to be balanced. This won’t be right away, though, since we’re not kicking anyone out of their servers.

SFR will never be on very high it is even now on full, but wvw is nearly empty besides EB. I think the system dont work und will hurt the full server at HoT release, because many transfered of the server to play with friends who want to start with HoT or came back.

Maybe A-Net just want make some money so the people transfer from the empty full server

If your friends cant afford to tranfer but want to transfer to play with you, you can always see if a guild on your server would help pay for the transfers…i know for small groups a lot of ppl can be helpful with such things just to try and get more boddies in wvw on their s3rver

if both servers are the same color (green, blue or red), you can play together in Edge of the Mist

Huh, guess it’s gone up a little. I just transferred 1 of my accounts a couple weeks ago and it cost me 94 gold, but it looks like it’s closer to a hundred now. Still, that can easily be done in a day of silverwastes. I personally just converted some of the several hundred laurels I had into mats to sell. The last time I moved I converted karma to gold but this time I didn’t feel like breaking my mouse by clicking 5 billion times. Anet really needs to give an option at vendors to let you buy a stack of something at a time (slider or window to type in the amount you want), and a right click option to “open” or “use all” for things in your inventory.
