We are up against Dragonbrand and Tarnished Coast. The Orb of Power was on our Altar in the garrison. Without even beginning to siege the outer gates, much less the inner gates, the Altar was destroyed. The orb reset in less time than it takes for the Altar to rebuild itself. Someone, using what I’ve heard is some engineer skill, decided to forgo actually attacking a keep by resetting a captured orb of power.

Anyone have this happen? Know the details? Seen it in action?

I’ve seen it happen to Tarnish Coast’s keep before. Keep was perfectly secure, not under attack, but the altar was broken and the orb was just laying on the floor. We thought it was a bug.

Welp, the orb is in the original location now, and there are people standing on the cliff just to the west, which I don’t think is supposed to be reachable. I’m getting sad :/

You say the orb reset in less time than it takes for the Altar to rebuild itself. That sounds like a bug then. So how long are you talking about?

Also, was that keep recently taken by your team and you didn’t clear it out of potential enemies hiding there? (aka mesmers)

Releasing the orb is a viable strat imo. The question is did they get in by clever means.. or was it an exploit.

Like the person above me said, if the keep was recently taken there could still be enemies inside. If the keep had been yours for quite a while, however, this is sounding a bit more like an exploit.

The Garrison hadn’t changed hands since the server restart. No gates or walls were down and the person didn’t engage any of the NPCs. We had 10 people in the Garrison at the time.

Well, screen shot it next time and send it in as an exploit this time anyway.

It’s hard to catch people just blowing up the altar when the keep is not under attack if they are using an exploit to straight up bypass the keep/walls.

Are you sure the storm didn’t destroy the altar? It can do that, and if you aren’t paying attention you lose the orb. Garrison is the worst place to put it because of this.

Ive read about speedhacking and teleporting being “unprotected” : they can hack client all they want and so far without being caught.. So they say.
Cheating is always rampant in new games, and apparently GW2 devs did quite a couple mistakes regarding coding so hackers can change many parameters …

Im not saying that what happened was exploit/hack and I havent done any WvW yet but keep ur eyes open and screenshots/fraps ready I would say :p

Someone in another thread reported that the lightning from weather control was destroying the altar.

Not sure of the circumstances of this case, but perhaps it may have happened.

The garrison was attacked by Green, (west side of the map). Or it appeared to be attacked by Green. The orb was then seen on the outside of the orb room on the map. moments later it appeared on the top of the map. Blue (my side) then attacked the top of the map to take the orb but was repelled. The side effect of all this is that the garrison commander was bugged for the night with an invulnerablity aura. When we took the water gate and the inner cliff gate we engaged the commander and could do nothing to him. During our attack there was minimal red in the garrison. like 1-5 people. This bug was reported but nothing so far has been done about it. Everyone had just stopped attacking the garrison.

Rumor has it it’s a bug to do with the Quaggan Shaman’s thunder storms that are breaking the Altars. This is purely speculation right now but it isn’t foul play just a rather irritating bug.
