If anybody has played the game SupCom FA and knows what a point defense (PD) creep is, you should already know what this concept is. For those who don’t in, in the RTS game Supcom, you could build PD to help provide an areal denial and the tactic was to keep building PD as far as you can into the enemy’s base. I was wondering if this was viable at all in WvW. During those fights where it is back and forth between a keep and tower when the people in the tower are trying to assault, the whole back and forth attacks can ruin the momentum. So in my theory, how is good is it to build things like ballistas and arrow carts to keep the enemy at bay and keep creeping seige up until you can pin the enemy onto the keep walls and set up seige to even keep them away from there. Do tactics like this ever get used or are they just not viable?

It’s viable if you have someone with plenty of gold.

We do it on SoR pretty much every morning when we retake our BL. We dont have.the overnight crew to defend so we save money on upgrades to use on the siege creep

Some of us use it on SoR, to regain ground in the mornings as Kayku stated.

Although sometimes we also use it while advancing in fields.

Is this like a siegetank push in broodwar/sc2? I used to think its a viable tactic, then mesmer portals started becoming popular , now i think its only marginally effective. Money wise its not bad, just a couple dozen silver but supply wise I think there are better ways to spend it.

In RTS the concept is viable because you would have the artillery in the back with cheap stuff at the front and it works because the opponent would trade badly. But Mesmer portals + rendering issue + low hp pool of anything that isnt catapult/ram makes such a strategy a supply sink.

Not that I’ve seen many of these besides the sieging of towers from Ruins.

it could defiantly work, but you’ll need several camps, at least a dozen people to follow and a dozen more to maintain the sieging and a unholy amount of gold that is being willed to throw away since siege does eventually expire.

Problem is that this tactic won’t work too well against keeps with trebuchets or mortars in them.
