Servers tend to “die” when the big guilds leave it (Let’s take the exemple of HoD, IoJ and SBI). I’m curious about if there is a server that still actively play WvWvW even after such “death”.

Tell me people, you think your server is alive? Do it have a major W3 guild? It already seen better days?

WvW servers die mostly due to pvpers leaving the game

It’s alive if you make it, so if everyone left BG I would still consider it alive because HB is on it

Well SBI is not “dead”. Smaller groups yes and we cannot cover all the maps at once- but this week has been a blast! And the chat for the most part is lively as well, no trolls, we are rooting for each other. Honestly I like it so much more now!.. We just need a nice win to boost that moral and we are set.. but this week even in 3rd we are playing and having fun.

Tarnished Coast is alive and kickin. We have a large RP population so we draw a lot of wvw players from that population

We lost by 300k last week how is that “alive” I started on SBI at launch and it was so much fun. We always owned every other server in WvW. Now we are worse than WoW alliance. Just went into Eternal Battleground and we controlled nothing and not even anyone else there. Well I guess I have to enjoy it since you cant server transfer for free so I guess Im stuck here.

As for the question by the OP, no, it’s not.

IoJ is not dead – we were temporarily downed but managed to revive and are currently holding 2nd place in our matchup. Now that the mindless zergs have gone we have been able to convince more of the thinking population to join in.

Because last week we were facing SoR who is huge compared to us after we lost so many— we had no chance.. the score this week especially against CD is much closer and much funner. If you hate it leave… I have enjoyed the people so much more this week because they are here for the server and fun.. if you hate it so much nothing is keeping you here but yourself.

If the first phrase was meant to me, i’m asking about exclusively WvWvW… For PvE, i can use guesting anyway, so it’s not relevant.

And for your answer, you could at least say what server it is, no? (Since it’s not written on your signature)

HoD is still very much alive and active in WvW. We have fewer people and we are a few tiers lower than we used to be, but WvW is more fun on the server today than it has ever been.

Im still trying to figure out how SBI went from being the best server for WvW to now being one of the worst with hardly anyone ever on. Finally met up with the group and took everything back in our boarderlands. Hoping they will come to Eternal. The entire map is ripe for the taking.

HoD, ET, SBI, etc.. shows how a very small population relative to it’s PvE pop affects WvW outcome when they decide to leave.

TC is cool because literally everywhere you go there are tons of people of all levels. The map chats for every zone are enthusiastic and enjoying the game. Even though I spend a lot of time in wvw I run into people constantly that play the game completely different than I do but are having just as much fun. It’s a huge advantage for me because I enjoy the social aspect of the game.

A server is alive when people are playing on it. SBI is alive on WvW, many people still play and are enjoying it more than they did in T1. Lots of new projects and plans, no queue. Individual recognition, no pressure, respect toward server mates and opponent (well, most of the us like to think that way).

If you want to define “being alive” by the number of points and rank…we have different criteria. Not saying mines are better.

The rank and points of your server are in no way a direct indicator on:
- how good you or your guild are
- how much you enjoy playing
- how good the community is.

In fact, times like this, post Exodus SBI, are when a community really shows it’s power. It’s easy to keep morale high when your team is winnning everything. It’s in hard times that the true quality people show up.

CD, once upon a time was a top T2 server. Since then we’ve had many WvW guilds leave the server over many many months causing us to bounce around all over the middle tiers. Despite all that, CD is far from dead… even in WvW.

It just goes to show that servers can have fun, even in WvW, despite having those big name mass alliances.

This week, YB/CD/SBI has been a great match up and personally I’ve been having a blast.(as an opponent, SBI is far from ‘dead’ imho) A lot more fun than when we won T3 a few weeks ago with almost 100k over second place.

Some people play for prestige, other people play to have fun.

Well I can’t answer this because I’m on Sea of Sorrows, and it’s obviously no where near dead.

But, someone earlier mentioned it, the hardcore wvw guys have either taken extended breaks or have quit the game all together. I think the nature of how wvw is set up encourages burnout among really committed pvpers. The fight never ends, and if your server starts losing then the pugs/militia stop showing up. This endless bitter war gets old. There is no room to just slow down and enjoy yourself because you will quickly lose any gains you have made. I can’t say I have any brilliant ideas to fix it, maybe have wvw seasons like WoW has pvp seasons.

So far only IoJ didn’t came here to say “We’re not dead” (at least from the ones i’ve listed as dead).

In fact i’m thinking about jumping down to some less populated WvW community. I feel like i don’t belong to the “Beastgate” anymore… That’s why i wanted to hear from the “dead servers” if they are still alive, because i’m sure their WvWvW community got dramaticaly smaller.

JQ seems alive and healthy so far. Not perma overflow servers anymore.

HoD is far from dead. Just ask our opponents GoM and DH. We’ve had queues to our BL and EB on several occasions too.

Piken is overstressed.
Getting very depressed.
Developing a lot of anti forroners feelings
And is thinking about suiciding and hoping to start another live as someone else.

In PVE it is very alive. In WVW, more so. @ Crystal Desert.

Well if you are looking at those servers I always recommend SBI.

Last week we were fighting the highest population server in the game. Of course we lost by a ton because they have a ridiculous numbers advantage over us. That’s no secret, SoR will absolutely agree with that statement. However, during those weeks against SoR and TC we had some great fights. Hopefully they’ll agree with that statement as well.

Right now we’re facing Crystal Desert and Yak’s Bend. YB seems to have more people than we do so we’re going to lose again this week. At some point we’ll settle into a tier where our numbers disadvantage isn’t so much of a handicap and we’ll be competitive.

In the past we had awesome overnight coverage and we won because of it. During primetime we often had superior numbers and we won because of it. Neither of those things are real pvp. If you enjoy winning due to population advantage or night-capping SBI probably isn’t for you.

If you want to earn every point on the scoreboard, constantly have the outmanned buff, check the map every ten seconds, get ganged up on by both of your opponents because your points are “easier” to get and have to fight for every inch of the map you control then stick around…we could use the help.

Paying close attention to the ebb and flow of WvW interest on Darkhaven, the worst times when we spent weeks falling into last place. The PUGs lost interest, many large WvW guilds left, and those of us that remained are still here, and are reviving interest with the guilds and commanders who never left and are stronger and more positive than ever. It’s a blast in WvW on this server, it really is. We’ve seen a definite increase in PUG interest as we fight to win these last few weeks. Queues in EB at 2am PST! I look forward to the server reset, as I think our server is primed to battle some servers that are still lingering in the middle.
