It's Confirmed, No WvW in Future
“The expansion holds nothing for WvW,
That’s not true, it has one new, replacement BL map, which will contain even more PvE than ever before!
Even though we have repeated asked for less invasion from the LS, they have added permanent PvE events to WvW…
I used to be a PvE player like you, then I played Guild Wars 2

Exactly, as I said, WvW is dying. I’m 99% positive at this point that with the expansion and the new maps, Anet’s plan is to just convert WvW into a second EoTM and get rid of real WvW once and for all.

Well thank goodness the clueless hive mind decided to revitalize the spirits of jaded WvWers with talk of GW2’s engaging PvE and LS content. I’m purchasing all future LS updates with this xpac! Sign me up!
After blobbing around and smashing 1111 whole day you might wanna go play some new PvE content where you need to think little bit.

Absolutely. What game would that be?

I don’t blob…I’m in a small Roaming guild where we normally run about 3 people at a time, and I’m in a medium-sized guild that runs about 20 that I join for Reset.
I also click many more buttons than just 1. Also I have been taking a break this week to do some PvE and make some money- and I have to say, you can’t insult WvW players on our abilities. Yesterday in the Silverwastes I solo’d a Veteran Terragriff, and 5 mins later found THREE people laying dead around another Vet Terragriff. So I proceeded to kill that one over their dead bodies, by myself, again.

I am sorry you missed every Point of Interest and Ready up for the past several months that you can watch that tell you what they have so far announced to be in the expansion.
They aren’t even done, they haven’t even announced it all.
If you only WvW you don’t have to buy the expansion to play the new map. Funny people still trying to refuse to buy something because they are wvw’ers yet you are getting the new map for free.
WvW turning into PVE you say? Well it has PVE in it already and I guess the new map will have PVE in it too. Thing is you have the freedom to do what you like in WvW.. If you don’t want to do new PVE stuff in the new map don’t.. I’m sure its big enough to find places to fight in and will be up to players to bring you the fights. Its up to the players what the map will become.
Everything there, or almost everything, looks awesome, problem is the siege to win game that might becomes way to easy to build and use, for sure this week test is linked to that, and HoT will be full of “tools” that are only about that.
Anet is AWFULL at evaluating and iterate on game balance.
As long as WvW brings me hours of fun, there is always a future in it for me.
So… he basically said that players who only play WvW are a rare type of player. Which is far from saying that WvW players aren’t a thing.
It’s not even that weird. I suspect that when wvw queues are full, most “WvW players” aren’t gonna hang around aimlessly.
He said WvW players “really like PvE”. “Since when?”, would be my question.
He said WvW players “really like PvE”. “Since when?”, would be my question.
Probably since we protect NPC’s and take over other NPC controlled objectives.
Tbh I’m really more here to make a point. Anet has stated that they dont think wvw players are a thing, and I am pretty sure they are going to destroy our game mode with the expansion. They dont read the wvw forums, I’m sure they check this forum because they’re trying SO hard to advertise and sell HoT. So I want to show them that a lot of their long-term players are going to end up leaving with this expansion if they dont give us a reason to stay.
So your question as to why you should buy the expansion is simply a ruse to make a point that you think Anet is going to ruin the game. I think your speculation about long term players leaving is just fear mongering. If the current vanilla version you play NOW isn’t a reason to play the game in itself, then kitten expansion that you’ve already decided will ruin the game isn’t going to do it for you.
You’re point goes without saying and rather point-less. If people don’t like it, they won’t buy it. OK …
Now, if your point is that People who make assumptions about how the game will be ruined by the expansion and therefore allowing that assumption to taint their objective assessment of the expansion is ridiculous, regardless of how the current game satisfies them …. then you might have something to talk about.
Some veteran players just do not like where the game is going. Their recent experiences have already indicated to them what HoT would be like going forward so they have valid concerns.
Yes, so they shouldn’t try to be clever by avoiding a discussion about it through making a obvious point with a ruse … wouldn’t you agree?
If there is no future in WvW what game should we play? Thats my issue. Im tired of all the frustration just like everyone but having a hard time finding a decent replacement to gw2 wvw. Eso AvA and archeage pvp were huge letdowns.

Wildstar’s Warfront dealies sounded so promising and interesting. Pity that game flopped so hard. =(

i have been leveling a character in neverwinter (1st time playing it) till ill wait and see how “Neverwinter stronghold” will be.
Genavelle – I know it’s discouraging and I know you and JoshXT take WvW very seriously, I sympathize with your frustration – I know several others in our mutual guild that feel the same frustration you guys do:
That being said, while there are a percentage of dedicated, WvW only players, I wouldn’t imagine they’re in the majority. if they’re like I am, as a PvX’r, more players than not enjoy GW2 content across all sections of the game. That would explain Anet focusing more on PvE content vs. WvW or even PvP. Not saying that’s right, but it’s pretty obvious that’s the case.
If I had to choose one thing for the Dev’s to find a solution to, would be the imbalance created by the existing server based system and tier scoring that creates a “chase the tastiest carrot” atmosphere – i.e. bandwagon server transfers to get to the best fights without all the queues. I know many of us who have transferred servers more than 4 or 5x and some have done it 9-10 or even more than that.
Ultimately, it’s really up to each of us to figure out if it’d be worth A. buying the xpac prior to release B. continuing to pay GW2.
Personally, I love GW2 (and GW1) and will continue to play the game in all of its’ incarnations.
