How does it feel to be wrong? Lots of people on the Alpine BLs and yes, the desert BL was that bad.

It wasn’t that. They’re both bad, just that many more people thought DBL is much worse then ABL. The ABL is the lesser of the 2 evils. Main reasons are too much verticality, gimmicks and “map puzzle” elements, which ABL has a lot less of then DBL.

I guarantee you that once DBL comes back into rotation it will reach this stage a lot sooner and a lot harder then ABL.

If they enabled gliding on DBL it would be a whole different story, but I don’t think that would happen due to the amount of work it would require to test and redo all the locations which will become accessable via gliding.

It would be great if Anet would release statistics, but tbh it would probably just embarass them.

As somone that pretty much exclusively played on borders even when desert was around, I think that any given alpine border has somewhere around 10-15x the average activity.

Did you actually try to cap stuff on the bl or did you just assume that because there was no tag or no queue nothing was happening?

EB is always the most popular map. Its the central map, its the first map people go to. No matter what BL, this will be the case.

I’m on Fort Aspenwood and I’m not seeing this. There is a general decline in players but all maps seem to be fairly equal. I blame the match ups as the reason for the decline not the maps.

There are Always groups running around in the borderlands lately. You try flipping stuff and watch how quickly you get a response. May not be the case for other tiers, but in T3 we’re having lots of fun. Always people around to fight. Always groups running around. Lots of zergs. EB is blob central, but the borderlands are far more fun if you want smaller fights between zergs <20 people. There are many small havoc groups and you can even go roaming in the borderlands at the moment, get duels and have fun.

The BLs are definitely not empty. They may not be queued as often as EB, but that doesn’t make them dead by any stretch.

Must be EU problems… Here on T4 NA we have all 4 maps empty (not just the BLs), except for the green team presence.

DBL was nice design besside some laser stuff wich evryone have complain (when you bring lasers in a game make sure that game is futuristic star wars something) in rest they had problems with TO BIG and walking from one side to another was making people to get bored instead beign in action fast you lose more time running,,,,, and last TOWERS was bad designed.
Is this the answer the players are not anymore playing this game since they brought DBL they left the game they gone to try other games now they found that they have fun there …..bye bye game over one wrong move and you lose…..now the other wrong move that they doing is the fact that ANET is taking to much to find a solution to this linking server wich i say now i said before is another wrong move. Either you create new servers name or you just say hey you are playing on this NAME with another 20 names some kind of salad with evrything.

Our enemies BL are not empty though.

This explains a lot, I was wondering why they’re scores been so low.

First of all people do play on the Alpine BLs.

Compare that to the Deserted BLs which hardly anyone wanted to play on!
So the DBLs are actually worse.

And yes, most of the action is on EBG, so that is the map most people will want to be on.

But we predicted this anyway. People hated the DBLs, and having them for so long meant that when Alpine came back players were happy to play on them again.

BUT bringing back Alpine was still bringing back a 4 year old map which has been played on so much that players tired of them quickly.

WvW still needs a new WvW map!
DBL was so much more PvE based, which is why it failed.
But Anet have lost the original WvW team, they only have interns working on WvW like 2 hours a week or their free time.
These guys have no idea what WvW is about, they work on PvE, LS so much that PvE is all they know, which explains the DBL PvE stuffing.

Because nothing else changes, the only thing players can do to refresh things is to change servers, usually higher ranking servers where there is more players = more action = more fights. But this again only lasts so long.

If a map looks dead make it hot.

Pretty much this, ABL seemed empty last night but there was an EB queue so we ran around in the enemy BL, as soon as we started hitting Hills the enemy came out of the wood works and the map became populated. Now back with DBL, EB was queue’d we would go to the enemy BL, hit their keeps and maybe 1 or 2 people would try to prevent it.

EB has always been more popular then any other BL just by design.

BLs have almost always been less populated (GvG era was a bit different). However, the Desert BLs were truly empty of roamers. Getting any crew to leave EBG to defend them was ridiculously difficult. The BLs right now are prime roamer and skirmish territory with zerg flare ups from time to time.
