Its funny, thiefs get all the whine post but
Sounds like you got outplayed, mate.
I’m always outplayed, because I suck. fact remains tho, I don’t understand all the thief whining when warriors are so over the top, I know they are since I can actually kill people with a warrior, that’s how I know they are over the top.
the thief whining comes from the fact that thieves can stealth.
Thieves are annoying, warrs aren’t. Annoying classes with annoying mechanics tend to annoy people.
Well, Warriors WEREN’T annoying. The new stun lock builds are pretty kitten annoying.
The 100b warriors are annoying just because they can travel half map by pressing two buttons, but that build is for noobs (I call it hundred noobs build) and and it’s not a problem (you can easily avoid the spike damage).
The whines on the thief, instead, depend on the fact that in all mmorpg there’s a easy mode class whose task is to entertain even poor players. The thief is clearly that class (for example in pvp, where you need a greater balance, thief has been nerfed several times), but Anet exaggerated and in the hands of capable people the thief is just like a cheat.
warriors have 100x more utility, survivability and 10x the single target dps, they can also be more mobile with the right weapon sets, and over all have better weapon setups and more rounded talent tree..
And the Warrior would of course be considerably weaker if they could all that and also stealth every 3 second?
Oh wait. That’s the Thief. NVM.

Yeah, Thieves have 100x more utility, survival, and 10x more damage than Thieves.
You’re a friggin’ genius, man.
I yesterday annyoed one of my friends with my ranger in some sPvP duels with stealthing all the time. Yes, rangers have that too, never saw a ranger utilize that one effectivly in WvW, but when I’m lvl 80, I’ll show u how it’s done. The thief “problem” is from my standpoint not the stealth, but the insane healing they can get when fully traiting the shadow arts trait line.
From my experience any profession can be over the top, if players are good enough and the situation is the right one. I get complaints all the time. “Necro has so much CC and that annoying Condition spike”, “Mesmer Phantasm are just OP”, “kitten thiefs and their lame D/P perma stealth”.
In WvW you have often lower skill level being steam rolled by higher skill level. Pll don’t wanna accept that and say it’s because of the professions they use. And that ain’t changin’ with no balance update ever.

Thieves are actually pretty weak in WvW. They have absolutely zero survivability/function in a group fight. The only reason people cry about them is because they are so good at killing uplevels caught outside the zerg (read: new players).
The only class that is worse than the thief for WvW is the ranger. Aside from the AOE barrage skill, they don’t really have any abilities worth mentioning. And the pet dies instantly. Both ranger and thief could use a bit of a rework to make them more potent in big WvW fights.
For the record, I play mesmer/engineer.
Thieves have the most stealth, thus they’re the most annoying, then comes mesmers which are annoying and prolly third nowadays rangers. It has nothing to do with being stronger or ‘OP’, but everything about it being a bad experience fighting them due to the aforementioned stealth mechanic. Win or lose, it’s no fun playing against a stealth class, so you get whining on forums.
I’m pretty sure necros will kill me far easier than thieves, yet I don’t mind fighting them at all. Thieves generally just give up.

Either you don’t play thief and are talking out of your rear, or you’re a bad thief.
I’m always one of the last men standing in ZvZ, courtesy of an insane endurace refill rate, shadowsteps, mass blinds and last but not least endless blast finishers..

More nonsense. That you think their barrage is a skill “worth mentioning” and not just some forgettable vanilla DPS attack for tagging loot bags with a crappy CD, and in turn fail to mention Healing Spring and Entangle, both some of the strongest ZvZ skills, speaks volumes.
100x utility… where? a banner that gives 1% more dps?
100x survivability Can they stay in stealth and ninja people in the middle of a crowd of 20 players?
100x single target dps can they come out of nowhere pop haste and kill you in 3 seconds?
No they can’t.
since I can actually kill people with a warrior, that’s how I know they are over the top.
This means nothing i can kill people with any profession.
But Warriors are also over the top, just not quite at the level of Thief. And not played as much as Thief.
Its still a very mobile profession, more then most, even Thieves (Thieves get away due to stealth). Thats very hard to pin down because of all the cripple/chill/immobilize breakers and Stability.
That also has excessive amounts of Burst that they can set up well with all their stuns to guarentee theyll land it sooner or later. All the while being the profession with more baseline health and toughness then anyone else, combined with something like Endure Pain they can deliver the hurt while still being quite hard to take down compared to almost every other glasscannon build.
Funny how some ppl label rangers, thiefes and even warriors useless. One might wonder if those individuals have even played WvW. I love my (still upleveled, corrently lvl 36) ranger with his longbow, I can go even with many of the lvl 80 pugs of the opposing servers. I have to see, how it goes once I am lvl 80 and fully equiped with exotic and ascended. And my thief is just amazing in WvW fights and small scale raids. Shortbow, as I have mentioned elsewhere already, is one of the strongest ZvZ weapons I can think of, due to a decent dmg sustain on multiple targets, quick ability to go out of harms way due to #5 and constant blast finisher due to #2. I like my thief in ZvZ better than my heavy condtion necro (cuz thos conditions don’t stay for long, condition cleanse in ZvZ=OP^^).

Sorry I’m gonna jump in on this thread even though its kinda just an arguement. I don’t wanna take sides or troll or kitten people off but lets be honest here.
I main a thief and the only time I get beat but a warrior is when I make a mistake. Stealth builds are the most viable w/w builds because of survivably something a thief MUST have in order to not get run over. Playing a thief takes A LOT of skill and known when to use you c’d and what utilities to bring to the fight based on the class. IE: If I’m fighting a mesmor with not a lot of out of combat mobility I don’t need signet of shadows, I need infiltration to keep the pressure on him when he jumps. I’m I’m fighting a warrior I need blinding powers and ways to reset the fight if I eat his burst.
A thief strength is NOT in his dps, it is NOT in his stealth it is NOT in his ability to face tank a forest grub, which he can’t. It’s his ability to RESET the fight OVER and OVER again until you get it right, wear them down burn thier cd’s and kitten them off. Thiefs are all about mind games, getting people to chase you, luring them away for a one v one or 1 v 2 or leading a few into a group of friends. If your not a good player I don’t suggest playing a thief they have A HIGH learning curve to play effectively.
Secondly thief’s are primarly a roaming/small group class. They don’t fair well in large zerg fights unless you know EXACTLY when to go in, and get out AS SOON as you get your burst off. Find a sqiushy, burst em down, stealth/haste stomp gtfo as fast as you can. Stick around and they’ll blow you up
I agree. Thiefes can pick their fights and get out of them at any time, if played right. That is due to a combination of abilities: strong healing, wide variety of stealth, very usefull utilities. But it doesn’t make them OP. The risk running a thief, if you are able to handle them right, is the lowest of all professions.

Good grief… the discussion here is bad. I need to retrait to 30/30/30/30/30 so I can pull all this stuff.
you use another build? I sometimes go 30/30/70/30/50
