Actually, a LOT of the guild transfers recently have been to keep their guilds motivated to keep guild members showing up. I have watched my guild go from 157 to 20 actives since Lost Shore weekend. It has nothing to do with “band wagoning” it is about survival if you still want your guild to be around in another 6 months.

Botttom line is if people aren’t having fun they won’t stick around. People are just trying to keep things fun however that is defined. If that means transfers to accomplish that is what they will do. Losing influence doesn’t matter if the guild is bleeding players.

Yes, transferring is all about survival and continuing interests in WvW. That’s what PRX had in mind when they transferred out of SoS. They were on the verge of death.

My former guild had 50 actives but reduced to 2 since who knows how long.

No I think you are missing the point of my post and at least the post of one other person. Anyway you look at it, calling these guilds bandwagoners is wrong.

SOR is currently ranked 5th overall and 2nd in tier. This is where SOR was both when they decided to transfer here and when they actually transferred here. One guild transferred down over all rank and same rank in tier. One guild transferred down rank in tier and up rank overall.

Bandwagon in this case? Absolutely not. There is no way you can honestly describe either as such. If you want a true example of bandwagon, take a look at what nine dragons did. At the time of their transfer, they went from #2 to #1 in tier and #5 to #4 overall. Not only that, they did it in the middle of the match up. That my friend is the definition of bandwagon.

Yeah I completely agree, and this was totally not the case. Just a rough patch when we went from peacefully escorting yaks around our 100% red map and checking upgrades and siege to fending off attacks from both sides sweeping our holdings with frightening speed. Sometimes these shifts happen and given the coverage we have (this was during EU prime time, roughly 2PM or so EST) there’s not much that can be done.

And to briefly say – I don’t think it’s fair to blame SoR for recruiting guilds looking to move from struggling servers. If I were in such a position, I’d want to be on a server with successful WvW guilds too. Though I am wincing imagining the pain this is going to cause for next matchup… something tells me the trench coat is going to take a serious beating… =)

That would be a cool thing to get more movement into TC from interested EU players! I like the fun, playful, “non-hardcore” vibe we seem to have that stems from the RP base as well as the non-RP’ers. I still enjoy PvP and do my best, but with whatever I have, not worrying about my game time, gear, who I’m playing with or against.

And I like roleplay. I don’t call myself a roleplayer, but anything that adds more immersion to the world we play in is awesome to me. Having RPers around brings a flavor to the world which enriches my in-game time, even if I never roleplay myself.

Just yesterday – I hung out with some TC PvPers in WvW as we held off repeated attacks on Speldan from a much bigger SBI force and took the fight to SoR with a bunch of others after getting curb-stomped by then in EB.

I also ran into an initiation ceremony in the middle of nowhere in the world, players who I happened to do a dynamic event with tried to strike up a friendly banter with me in-character, someone I cheered during a different event sent me cookies and pie to say thank you, even though I never talked to them.

TC is a server that’s perfect for me. There are and will be severs with more hardcore guilds, better point margins and ratings than TC, but the mix of enthusiasm for WvW and the flavors players bring to my experience out of WvW are very very dear to me. I wouldn’t leave this server for my significant other if they were playing and wanted to move.

While I know that everyone who PvPs on TC doesn’t do it with my perspective, I bet a lot do.

I do have a hunch that PvPers on TC are ‘long-haul’ players. I bet this server continues to punch far above its ‘roleplayer’ reputation in PvP for a long time to come.

I have to say, I am much more comfortable not being in a top server but I never wanted to leave SBI because all my online friends were there. Having a queue time of zero on most nights and always having battles to fight on all 4 battlegrounds is definitely choice for me.

I very much look forward to next week and a challenge that will be fun, rather than tedious, to overcome.

Week started off really well but kinda got boring with the repeated SOR golem rushes during the weekdays. Seems that WvW has turned into a weekend event.

That reminds me, I also wanted to give a nice big /smile to all the friendly enemies I encountered in the jumping puzzles this week (both SoR and TC). Likely enough you were all like me and just in it for the badges, not the siege (who doesn’t have endless siege by now?), so why fight each other , right?

I even had one run where I teamed up with 2 TC and 1 SoR in the dark room. That was an dance party ending Martin Luther King Jr. would have been proud of……..followed by a 1v1 single elimination competition where even the first TCs buddy held back when his friend died.

Congratulations to SoR on that match. Your Jumping Puzzle Cage Match representative (a guardian whose name I will likely never know) did your server proud and won the grand prize :-D

Your confidence is misplaced. Based on how you were playing last night (whether seriously or not), you gave me several opportunities to kill you. After I realized your “I’m a bunker” schtick, I was saving almost all of my key cooldowns (gap closers, interrupts, and burst), because I realized you were letting your health get dangerously low even when I was applying only light pressure.

Yup, my WvW gear is not optimized for bunkers (or anybody for that matter, since I don’t really WvW much). Yup, you were not attacking (probably smart not to multi-task immaterial damage). But nope, I did have the damage to kill you under the circumstances, but not the suicidal urge to roll the dice and chase after you into friendlies each time you ran away.

In general though, your right that it is a significant challenge for even a glass D/D ele to kill a skilled D/D bunker ele. But based on what I was seeing, I was not convinced you were that, so I kept trying. Maybe you are, though. Happy to hop into an sPvP server and tool around — always looking to improve and learn new things.

Atlas, you do realize that I wasn’t using any abilities on you on for the most part. I wasn’t trying to be mean or call you bad, I am just trying to say stop hitting me

I could have used weakness on you, added more healing (via damage like cone of cold), knocked you down, stunned you, crippled you, etc. I didn’t even have regen up most of the time or cared to remove the bleed burn stacks half the time (unless by product of cleansing wave to add some health so I could keep hopping circles around you). I don’t even think I threw up frost/lightning aura much either, but things are a force of habit for me, so you may be able to answer that better. (definitely didnt throw up fire aura, kinda hard when you dont use ring of fire and magnetic grasp cause i didnt want to hit you :p )

I was hoping you would get the point that I was being completely non aggressive because I was running around the 50 bazzillion lolrams we had put up.

So grats on getting my health a little low a couple of times when I was basically doing nothing much more than dodge rolling in water and using water 5 on myself while hopping in circles.

Anyways, bunker is annoying 1v1 and cant kill anything in real gear (unless you let them kill you by being stupid) nor be killed by anything period. I agree with you there. I don’t run it for 1v1 though. My burst gear is great for bombing, but my bunker gear allows me to do more overall damage over time in a big fight. Consider that….

Anyways, I have no idea what gear you had on or how you were traited. I wasn’t really paying attention to your aura/boon and durations, nor was I throwing any conditions on you to see if you were running removal.

Not directing this at you specifically, but I can tell you that most d/d eles that arent running bunker (and mainly p/v/t gear) die fast and easy to me regardless of how hard they hit. They just cant sustain and I can negate them almost completely.

Edit: To be completely fair though, I am not a 1v1 specialist. I could care less about that aspect of the game.

No, I was not attacking you because I didn’t want to attack you. That’s why I was hopping and running in circles. Much of a d/d ele’s survivability (as you should know) in fact comes attacking. Not to mention that most abilities we have don’t fire while jumping anyways, which I was doing nonstop …lol

Also damage isn’t inconsequential really as a d/d ele, just spike damage is too low to get around other bunkers. I have just as much power as someone foolishly running zerker gear. I just lose spike from crit damage / extra critting (though always having fury up helps a lot on crits just not damage from them)

SBI – did you guys give up in eb? >.< We miss you!

I have no trouble killing most bunker D/D ele builds in WvW or sPvP using my more balanced D/D ele build. The fights often last a longggg time, but ultimately come down to well-timed interrupts, burst, and a bit of luck (namely, crits). (Eles with the signet heal are often harder to drop than glyph-heal eles, because I cannot interrupt and then immediately chill that large source of their healing, once I get them low.)

I realize you weren’t using all of your abilities, but you were also giving me more opportunities to kill you than most D/D bunker eles and also doing so more often, so it seemed it was only a matter of time, which is why I kept trying.

It’s possible that a D/D bunker ele that makes no mistakes is unkillable with a balanced D/D ele build. I spent most of my time in sPvP for the first few months, but I have not played the game much at all lately, so I’m behind the meta. In WvW, it’s super funky with the food buffs, fort buffs, battle buffs, etc. — I have no clue what an optimally played D/D bunker ele might look like or feel like fighting against.

Currently about 12 of us, earlier when we lost our fully upgraded keep with cannon’s was 4 of us. A whole bunch of TC for you to come get over by us though!

I’m curious to know where SoRs weak coverage is lately. US has always been strong and Oceanic (1am-8amPST) is much better with the help of our dedicated Choo/CDS leaders. How is our EU coverage? I’m oceanic so EU prime time is like 4am+ for me so I’ll never really see how we are going in that slot. The gaps are closing but I still notice our Oceanic coverage is only enough for 2 maps with maybe a harrassment party on the third.

Right. I was near the 5000 rams screwing of with everyone else and not attacking you, and repeatedly running back to you, in front of you, etc. Quite obvious I was screwing around and not even remotely close to being even somewhat serious.

I stood in your churn on purpose didnt dodge a single updraft, etc. because it wouldnt have mattered one way or another because I wasnt going to let you kill me… one way or another with escape tools up, I could always get away from you.

Anyways, not sure why we are arguing about something that wasnt even serious or why you are trying to make it serious. heh
