I’d like to propose an idea that the jumping puzzle area’s in WvW should become neutral. Meaning that players from different servers can’t kill eachother in these area’s.

Most players are respectful in these areas and they don’t try to kill players who are just there to solve the jumping puzzle. But for me, in the eternal battleground jumping puzzle, the german Riverside players are constantly killing the players from Far Shiverpeaks and Vizunah Square. In fact, they even built arrow carts at the end of the puzzle to just blow every player to death.

This way, no one from Vizunah Square and Far Shiverpeaks could finish this jumping puzzle for at least the last couple of days. This can’t be the intention of the jumping puzzles right?

Is there too much PvP in your WvW?

I think it is a valid strategy to camp the jumping puzzle and prevent your opponents from getting free siege plans.

It’s a jumping puzzle in a PvP map,. ofcourse it’s by design! You don’t have to do it if you find it frustrating. Don’t forget that the borderland maps also have a (much much) easier jumping puzzle, that basically gives the same rewards.

Anyway I did that eternal BG jumping puzzle twice, wasn’t anyone around, but it was still a very frustrating experience, so save yourself the grief and just skip it. Easier to watch the youtube vid if you want to see what’s inside.

(or.. find a friendly mesmer that is at the chest and wants to drop you a portal, so you can basically port from the entrance of the dungeon to the very last bit.. ie the part after the pit)

The rewards for the jumping puzzles are pretty much exclusively stuff that will be used in WvW against your enemies. Why shouldn’t they be able to stop you from getting them?

Whenever even a small group of enemy players are reported to be camping a jumping puzzle on my server, a decent sized group heads there to take them out if there aren’t any important battles going on elsewhere. It’s an objective that’s just as useful to control (or at least keep enemies from controlling it) as anything else, it just isn’t worth points like most of the other stuff.

Yup, it’s a PvP area, expect PvP.
I personally like the thrill I get from fighting during a jumping puzzle; it’s very similar to the feeling I’d get playing Demon’s / Dark Souls when someone invaded my game.

Remove siege equipment placement? Yes.
Eliminate PVP altogether in them? No.

Although I don’t usually kill people in the jumping puzzles myself. I thoroughly enjoy running the gauntlet on my thief against the odds.

Also quite amusing when you have some one firing arrows at you as you stealth. Then because you’re so practiced at the jumping puzzle, you jump pass them, loot the chest and stand behind them. All while the person is still firing arrows of where they last thought you were.

I simply ended up standing really close to behind the guy and waved at him. He responded by forward rolling off the cliff to his death. Good times.

I do not camp in the puzzle but I absolutely love the fight to get to the end. I just need to find allies who love it as much as I do. I do the puzzle solo almost every day or every other day. My guildies? They love the PvP. The jumping? They would rather bang their head into a wall.

Haha i remember when Seafarer’s Rest fought Riverside. Yep those germans are always camping there… but they’re so terrible that i’m sure if you got a 5man group its enough to wreck them up to be honest. They all terrible.

TBH I was hoping jump puzzle is neutral. Sort of like, take a break or something. I’m getting like kind of tired of having to kill people 24/7 in wvw. If only ANet will let have an option of declaring “neutrality” (cannot be attacked, and cannot attack others), that will be great.

If I’m nice and don’t hit them (glass cannon thief), they just take advantage and down me easily. That’s really a pity. As of late, I had to force myself to bring them down first.

silly idea, the jumping puzzle is possibly the best place to find pure pvp (rather than hitting gates or being zerged by 20+)

I’m in favor of either moving it outside of WvW itself or just making it neutral.

My problem is that right now it’s a rich get richer type of things. Winning servers can control more jumping puzzles and obtain more siege blueprints than losing servers.

PVE in wvw maps (grub or complex jumping puzzles) should NOT be in wvw zones. I understand you can have gathering nodes but as far as pve content goes that should be it.

It really annoys me that while we are fighting zergs there are people who are wasting a slot jumping around while others are stuck in a queue for several hours waiting to fight. If there were no queues I would not mind. If there is a queue there should be no instance jumping puzzles.

And yes I too am a fan of Lara croft serie and the jumping and discovery of assassin’s creed but I leave this to pve and not pvp

everyone got their qualities. Riversides best quallity is camping puzzles with their newly gained siege plans from the chest. In the meantime they get pwnd at the field but hey, they camped a puzzle. clapclap. waisting plans and supplies to make sure the enemy won’t get plans they can easily buy at the store for a few silver

This is not avoidance to let other people to stay away from rewards, but a showoff how hatefull they are.

In puzzles no one should die. but stomping, knocking, kicking, cripple people in puzzles should stay.

Just hope they kitten off the pool next week, shouldn’t be hard considering how they get stomped on the real battlefield while 20 of their guys just wank in the puzzle with siege weapons.

The idea of a neutral area in wvw makes no sense – especially since by being there you are taking a slot for someone actually interested in wvw.

I would prefer they move the jumping puzzle completely out of wvw and into a pve zone where it belongs… or make it its own BG… so that people in there are not impacting the other areas.

Yeah, but the puzzle gives blueprints so by doing it, you help your server in some way if, of course, you place those siege weapons on the battlefield.

Really, except a few ori nodes, there’s no real reason to do the puzzle if you’re not playing wvw.

World vs World is meant to be the PVE server with PvP turned on via/ like Traditional MMO’s have. It’s supposed to have all the PvE things in it, but with an added twist of having to watch your back. Just like the old school MMO’s.
It also has “Alliance Battles” (GW1) of capturing points on a map.

People camping and preventing you from doing the puzzle? Use the chat. Let your allies know of this. I have done this several times and get a small group to take out those invaders in the puzzles, most of the time they run for it when they see a group coming.
Communicate with your team mates, use the chat. If you can’t kill the invaders, go to another map.
You should only really be doing the borderlands puzzle on your home servers map anyways, as that is deep in your territory and easier to keep more green dots then red in it.

You need to do the all the puzzles for Map Completion? In a weeks time the map locations will change to get the others ones. Everything doesn’t have to be at once.

Your on a server with PvP turned on, if things not going your way. Take a breath, log off for the day and come back tomorrow and try again. Life and gaming is a lot more fun when your not stressing out, trying to do the same thing over and over again.

It makes no sense to make this a neutral area since the rewards are fundamentally tied to wvw and pvp… If your just after gear there are many other jumping puzzles out there.

I personally love the jumping puzzles as they are a great place to get some pvp on. It also holds a very strategic advantage if your team can hold of others and maybe even annoy them enough to not bother as that is less siege in the enemies hands.

Take the PvE puzzles out of the PvP engagements. No more complaining about it, fewer queuing and taking up space that could be better used for PvP players.

I think that taking the PvP aspect away from WvW JPs is a bad idea, as WvW is a PvP area. I’m not so sure about allowing players to build siege weapons in it, though.

Even if i am one that most of the times doesn’t attack inside puzzle zones, i’m in favor of the pvp there. You get free WvW stuff so it’s justificable killing you. If you find it frustrating deal with it/go to another wvw puzzle/wait for enemies to go away. That’s war!
