The usual after the WvW matching changes. This happens everyday oceanic time, we (BP) had 30-40 people trying to stop DB from capping our keeps and garrison. Most of the groups that cap are a big group of pugs. There are only a few guild groups that run around, the ones that comes to mind is [NNK] and [TFV]. Even with how much fun getting steamrolled is, can we go to a more diverse matching?

Being stuck for months with an oceanic server has sucked the life out of BP. Practically nobody wants to fight these guys any more. We can get 50 or so together in the NA mornings but it is like farting against the wind. Roaming, skirmishing and large group all suck. EBay has straight out quit and sounds like their big 3 guilds are leaving to other tiers.

ANet really needs to address this fundamental flaw and probably number one overall issue in almost every tier. It has been fairly crappy since release and it does keep a lot of players on the sideline.

That is absolutely not true. What they do is run big zergs on all the maps flipping everything. If they hit any resistance, they move onto another objective on the map. We can maybe cluster 40 people across all maps in the AM. Our AM squad is also not as organized since most of our major guilds are NA with a couple being European. We have no major Oceanic presence and they are notoriously difficult to attract.

When they finally get to the well defended objectives, they just beat the keep from distance burn its supply, golem rush or both. It is actually really easy for a server that controls all the supply and has 10x the numbers to simply beat a keep into submission.

The fight is effectively a T2 server population queuing maps going at a T6 server. The number disadvantage is staggering and likely not seen in many tiers.

Perhaps if they have a commander on voice comms. Something tells me they either don’t use voice comms or they don’t stack on the commander / follow the commander or they don’t use team-builds, rather solo / pve builds.

Re: Problem at hand: it takes a lot of effort since anet hasn’t implemented in-game voice comms or useful commander tools, so those without such tools available to them (ie. server wide voice comms vs. guild voice comms) are going to be far less efficient than any server using such tactics.

A lot of people blame blobbing as a main cause of grief in WvW. This is hardly the truth. Big fights always occur in open world / wvw type games. “Blobbing” is blamed, but it is actually several factors which ultimately determine which army wins. Some major factors as mentioned are voice comms, ability to follow a commander and stay on commander in battle (pugs often don’t stay on the commander in battle because they are afraid of dying, so they retreat or do something less useful), ability of commander to position siege properly, ability of commander to lead and make good calls, skill of players, experience of players, proper builds and gear (ie. rallybots versus immortal builds).

40 people wearing improper gear, with improper builds (little synergy), with improper siege placement (if they even refresh the siege or have supply to build it), probably non-upgraded keeps, are going to have a bad time.

We have a server wide TS that is used. I still don’t think people understand the disparity of numbers here. We have 30-50 across ALL MAPS. They queue most of their maps. I don’t care how good a servers coms, stacking, etc is. Skill groups cannot contain 10x their numbers. They might be able to hold an objective for a while, but it is a losing battle of attrition at best.

This isn’t L2P and if you think it is transfer over and try it out… I promise you that you will know what it feels to get run over by a freight train.

Well if there wasn’t such a huge delay on Edge of the mist that wouldn’t be a problem, because we would have new content to play against more diverse opponents.

But it seems we are stuck with the same exhausted content for months to come.

Worse than that, they have not even replaced the Ruins boring objectives with something interesting (like a fort instead of a circle), so nobody cares about the little new content they added last year besides for the pretty graphics. Thinking about it the Quaggan objective with the kraits was more interesting.

And they was time added PvE Molten stuff near pillars once again nobody in WvW cares about that.

So yeah, your getting rolled over, because people got tired of playing the same stuff over and over. Imagine if a game like Call of Duty came out with only 2 multiplayer maps and waited 20 months before releasing a third one.

Don’t feel so bad. I’m an oceanic based player & it can be common for us to have about 5 people during oceanic prime time trying to compete against up to 50 enemy.
You’re right; if you do not have the numbers defensive siege is useless. Try & recapture towers, keeps & camps only to be steamrolled. PvD does not help the situation either.

The server balancing is problematic. Anet seems to think we enjoy the variety of fighting a bunch of different servers, but that really isn’t the case. We enjoy fighting against other servers that present a challenge without overwhelming us. If we end up fighting the same two servers over and over that is better than being unbalanced. I have been dominated and have been on the dominating server due to poor balancing. Neither is very much fun.

Our guild gets to wipe them for approximately 2 hours worth of raiding then they coagulate into a giant map blob. It’s like they want everybody out of their way because they’d rather fight doors than players. There’s a lot less fun to be had all around.

There is a server TS that is active. Dragonbrand seems to have large PPT guild groups that tag up(they do this every night after our guild wipes them a few times) so they attract a staggering pug buffer. Blobbing isn’t a problem per se, it only becomes a problem when there is no “counter blob” and that is precisely the problem that EvilSantos is talking about. They just rush with Omegas and bodies or treb from a spot that we don’t have the bodies to take. Also, even when TS is used, the chance that a random group of people will have synergized gear/builds is unlikely. Guild groups must practice precision to zerg bust, I don’t know why you expect this from pug groups.

TL;DR

(Smaller pug group + siege + laughable state of wall defense) < (Larger pug group + Guild group + Guild Group + Guild Group + siege)

A lot of people did complain about being matched against the same sides week after week. Variety is good. Is it Anet’s fault not all servers have the same world vs world population base? Or servers lack coverage during certain time periods?
PvP has it right; you play as one of two colours and sides are auto balanced. Could this be applied to world vs world…..mind you it could make guilds impractical in world vs world.

This is not true, we can queue maybe 1 map if all 3 guild groups ([TFV], [NNK] and [GA]) are on the same map.
Also, DB has no EU force, so as soon as our SEA log off, BP goes and flips our stuff. Itsthe same thing, but in reverse. Many on DB, including myself, have become bored of the endless karma train in the past few weeks, with BP not showing up like during and before leagues. I personally would like DB to go up a tier too, after having 13 weeks of EBay and BP back on AR, now seems like we are stuck with BP again
