Just ruined WvW for me
why didn’t you get a vid :/
Really..? How seriously petty.
The devs don’t care about WvW so I’m gonna kill players in PvE!
Guild tags aren’t unique – I have seen a lot of [WvW] tags but they are from different guilds.

Looks like you wandered into a fight club?
[FTF]Danke Bitte
ya you found some friends who are on a different server.
sometimes people know other people.
I know ECHO from back along so yeah I’m pretty sure you walked into their fight club and probably did something wrong.
ChapDev you are killing WvW for players. Please stop. tia

:( Who let you out of East Keep?
I heard there was a fight club ruining someone’s good time in WvW, so I came to join in.

Yes, that’s almost certainly a “fight club”.
People pick a spot to meet and engage in 1v1 duels inside WvW while everyone else stands around and watches. I think it’s terribly stupid and I never hesitate to break up a fight club if I have enough people with me (red is dead) but there’s not much you can do about it if you run into one without realizing it.

Doesn’t seem like a good spot to have a fight club, if anything just an impromptu duel.
If it bothers you and makes you not want to WvW, then perhaps you are better suited for PvE.
most likely a fight club. People arrange a time to meet at a out of the way area to do 1 v 1s. It’s a great way to improve your skill.
You all violated rule No. 1 and rule No. 2.

That wasn’t a “fight club” I’m pretty sure they just ran into each other and were dueling.
Cause that would just about the dumbest spot fo have a fight club.

In EBay’s defense, Devona’s Rest was obviously doing it too. I’m sure there are fight club people on Borlis as well.

Best thing you can do is try running with a small group of your own so you can wipe any of the little kittens doing it.
WvW is for WvW. Since it’s the token response to anyone who has a problem with in-game content on these forums… If you want to duel, GW2 isn’t the game for you.

Better bring more than one group :-P
Players that frequent fight clubs are in the top % of PvP ability and most are easily able to dispatch 1v2 or even 1v3 odds when encountering zerglings.

Yeah yeah, because you never run into solo fights in WvW.
Thing is, zerglings aren’t everyone who runs with a zerg. Karma/coin/influence piling isn’t the only reason I do large-scale PvP; it provides oh-so-many opportunities to stomp people in interesting and entertaining ways.

More like they are spec’d and trained for 1v1 and are the least useful in actual WvW conditions.
I have two 80s and they both are terrible 1v1 fighters because they are spec’d for WvW — lots of group friendly abilities and things that work best when surrounded by allies. I’d say that puts me in the top % of WvW ability with duelists somewhere towards the bottom. I’ll be the one healing, buffing and AEing (depending on character) while your little duelist buddy has wandered off to the back somewhere trying to find someone to solo.

Every moment spent ikittenerg is one where you aren’t honing skills vs opponents who are at the top level of gameplay. Running in zergs makes players soft.

My mistake. Please do forgive me, oh elite keyboard warrior.
Large-scale PvP is a whole different level of tactics than dueling. You may not know of anything beyond “lol spam aoes zerg fun ahhoohehe”, but in a fight where 50%+ of the players present are doing just that, even one person making the right play can turn the odds for one side.
I do in fact find some challenging fights, particularly in a few of the mesmers hidden away after a zerg’s been through. Whether they’re skilled or not, I don’t take chances and play accordingly, so it’s either a real fight if they know how to play or gigglesnort stomping if they don’t.
Or maybe I’m just soft and not a hardcore archduelist like yourself and should keep my filthy peasant zergling mouth shut. :vvvvvvvv)

You will learn nothing by zerging. It’s just how it is. Only to the extent of knowing how WvW works.
Saying that a good PvP player is not worth anything to a zerg is just silly considering what most zergs consist of, complete filler, any player who has an idea of what they are doing regardless of build is worth a lot to a zerg.
In this game you can easily swap your PvP character to a zerg character, which I reckon is what most duelists will do depending on what they are focusing on.
Anyway if you have duels like this they are best held in a safe location where it’s unlikely that somebody will trespass, and also at a time when queue isn’t full.

Why not just take these fightclubs to an empty spvp server? If you’re just dueling then that’s the best way to do it.
This is Guild Wars, not Server Wars. Guilds are not servers. Stop assuming that everyone is going to run a guild only on a single server.

Interruptions are actually MORE frequent in sPvP (blame it on a funky “join random” system that seems to favor nearly empty rooms to nearly full ones). Plus any builds there have no real connection to builds one might run in WvW for their gank group / solo build. Dueling is simply, for most, a means to test out new builds vs opponents that have fully mastered their class.

I don’t usually have any problem when a random joins and we explain to him that we’re all there just to duel. But yeah, I can concede your point on some build limitations that are imposed by the spvp itemization (or lack thereof).
I just like to say a few things as a solo player who is a part of zerg guild. I solo 90% of the time but when the guild need me I zerg as well.
1. People who do fight club are by far the top 1% of the wvw pop.
2. Zerg v Zerg is a completely different game from roaming solo.
3. It’s easy to transition from solo to zerg but not easy at all to go from zerging to the solo game.
4. Spvp is a whole different game from WvW solo. Heck tpvp is totally different from hot join.

It’s all good. As long as they don’t mind it when, occasionally, a “red is dead” group comes through and wipes them out.
Red-is-dead always has right-of-way in WvW.
I can see where it would be annoying for someone by themselves to say “Oo look, an enemy attacking an ally! I’ll go help!” only to find the ally stops fighting and lets them get killed because he was “interrupting a duel”. This sort of thing is why you’ll see duelists get a lot of disrespect in this and every other game.

It’s a tough lesson, but it was learned. Most of the time the duelists will tell the interrupting player to stop, and give them the choice to live or die. They ignore the warning, they die.
PS. - Please do bring your “red is dead” group. Some of the funniest moments in WvW are a bunch of duelists from separate servers teaming up to wipe the group of noobs foolish enough to attack them. I’ve seen 5 to 1 odds go down like a prom dress vs good duelers.
Don’t interrupt duelists.
I feel that this group needs special protection since they don’t have an arena to do these things currently.
These guys generally have a very high skill level and deserve to be respected just like everybody else. Zergs should find other zergs to fight, not disrupt small groups having honorable battles.
my 2 cents.

Well, while I can understand people dueling, they… really shouldn’t expect to have things uninterrupted when they fight on bloody roads. There’s a windmill with barely anyone running around. Go to the frelling windmill!

Equally funny — tells from duelists/crossteamers saying “please stop killing my friend” or “stop stop stop stop sopt tsop stop tpos” as you wipe out their little buddies.
Sorry* if I can’t go up to every battle and say, “Pardon me, gentlemen, but I see the two of you are fighting. Might I inquire as to the nature of this battle and whether or not it is consensual dueling or perhaps a fight with which you may prefer my aid?”
Easier just to kill em all.
I don’t go around looking for fight clubs to break up but they are uninvited interlopers in a WvW environment.

I don’t know where you “claim” to find these guys. But I assure you they aren’t the organized fight clubs we’re referring to.
I guarantee you that you hit one of MY fight nights and you’ll find yourself a quick waypoint home.

I seriously hope that it’s not something that’s pervasive throughout WvW. 90% of my time is spent in WvW and this is the first time I’ve seen something like this first hand.
So you’re dead and they aren’t? Big deal, would that pic make a difference if it was 3 from the same server who killed you? A FFA is a FFA.

Unless I am mistaken, having people from the same guild on two servers fighting a third server is not what was intended by the dev team…unless I am mistaken and someone can present evidence that the devs clearly have no problem with having potentially one giant guild spread on two servers fighting a single server.
This simply should not be allowed as it potentially opens the door to having twice as many players on your side than the side you are fighting…don’t you see?
What is the point of three servers then if you can spread your guild on two?
