Kaineng Server good?
Fighting them the last couple days I have noticed one thing. When in huge numbers they are steamrolling everything, but get them in small numbers and you can do whatever you want with them.
I had no problems taking out 3/4 all by my self on my mesmer, and when they finally killed me with 9 people…..they all danced and sat on my head and stuff like they had done something wonderful, (if it takes 9 of you to kill 1, you didn’t do anything great) which is just tacky. They have to be the most “emotive” players I have seen since launch.
Now of course this is just a random sampling, and not saying the WHOLE server is this way, but so far thats all I have seen. I am sure most of the skilled, good players are maybe sitting this week out, simply out of respect for the steamrolling their zergs are doing.
How can anyone take this sour grape seriously?
If I wanted to post sour grapes I would. Giving an honest appraisal of what happened isnt sour. I fully realize I was facing people who might never have wvw’ed before…..I know its not representative of the WHOLE server, and clearly said that. Just because you dont like what was said, does not make it “sour grapes”.
So what does any of what your are saying have to do with what it is like to play on Kaineng as a server? Seriously! The OP is not asking what you think Kaineng is like to play against in WvW, he’s asking what it is like to play on Kaineng. See the difference there. Too subtle?
Put it this way. seeing as you have never played on Kaineng (I would assume), you really have no way of presenting any honest answer to the OP, do you?
Considering what the first post in this thread stated, if you bothered to read it at all, he simply asked :
So at the moment I’m on Desolation and going to join my friends on Kaineng USA server. Are they good? I heard it going up quick in the WvW rankings?
So I was responding to the “Are they good?” question. In no way shape or form did the original post ask for people who played on the server or did it ask “what its like to play on”. If that had been the question, I wouldnt have had an answer, since I only know what I have seen playing against.
How about next time you at least look at something before pointing fingers.

Ah true. I jumped a bit quick there. I saw the OP’s intent differently. Sorry about that.
However, I stick by my opinion that you (and others) tend to make generalizations when you speak of Kaineng’s abilities and play style. Very slanted POV, but that’s just my own opinion as one who pretty much only plays WvW. I’ve seen smaller groups of Kaineng push bigger groups of opponents back plenty of times. Perhaps it’s just the time you play, or something.
At any rate, it’s a moot point, the guy joined Kaineng anyway. Welcome to Kaineng Aim!

Kaineng is a strong server. It will require a deeper level of coordination and it will hit some speed bumps along the way, but you learn from any defeat and become better. For those that say we lack high tier experience, maybe you’re just seeing the PUG groups that sometimes prevent us from getting half our guilds into a map. Or maybe you’re just seeing us spam ram because we can, and because it’s the most efficient means when there’s nothing to resist. Either way, I think the real strength of Kaineng will lie somewhere in between the hype and the trolls once the dust settles.
As to our placement, it isn’t advantageous for Kaineng to go to T3 instead of T2 if it’s left up to us, desired matchups or not. Glicko is fickle. I’ll leave it at that.

Sorry about that part, but I stick by my opinion that you tend to make generalizations when you speak of Kaineng’s abilities and play style. I did temper my original post with the fact that the really good players might be sitting this week out over the steamrolling, and in no way did I presume that my experiences were indicative of the whole server being that way, just what I had seen the last few days.
I know it might not be a glowing review, but its just truly honestly what I experienced….and kinda surprised so many are upset I said it. Others have said the same thing has been happening to them, so its not like I am the only one.
I however again will say, I do NOT think its the norm for everyone on the server, and its obviously not something most of you posters from there do in your time spent in wvw. You have -0- control of what OTHERS are doing when they are there either, so its not a good spot to be in for you, and you do have my sympathy that you got so many transfers who have crass playing etiquette.
Are they good?
It depends on what you mean by good.
I fought Kaineng on a lower tier server and when we had similar numbers we rolled over them with little effort. The problem was we could never keep those numbers up so Kaineng would just wear us down and retake every thing.
I’m now on a T1 server and if you put Kaineng up against JQ, SoS or BG they would be flat out steam rolled.
From what i have seen of kaineng they are little more than their over whelming numbers vs the lower tier servers. I was anything but impressed when i faced them.
Is Kaineng a good server?
Well that really depends. I’m not sure ArenaNet has ever released the specs of the machines that the servers run on.
There was a pretty good article about WoW though and how it costs like USD137k per day to run, so if it’s anything to go by…. Well go figure.
That said I don’t think ArenaNet gives any specific server better quality rigs. So to answer your question, all servers are probably equal.
To the last two posters (Tandy and nekos), you’re both somewhat correct. After reset night, when we paint the map, the trend has been that Kaineng no longer brings their “A” game. Instead of a strategic and solid game with skilled people and geared characters, we play the whack-a-mole game with supply camps game and run-to-the-control-point-before-it-flips game with our low-level alts while wearing armor 10 levels behind where we are. In other words, you probably didn’t see us at our best, and to paraphrase my long post, probably wonder how Kaineng manages to tie its shoes in the morning.
If you’ve played against us, you pretty much have to judge us solely on what you saw on reset night, when all servers have queues and full battlegrounds. That’s the game we bring it matters. If you missed it, well, then you missed playing against Kaineng.
Are we T1 quality? Probably not. The real question is whether or not we can develop into T1 quality. But yes, we do know how to tie our shoes.

btw informing all of an influx of EU major guilds in Kaineng atm.
Simple answer, depends on whether you’re fighting the newer WvW players, or the veterans. If you’re fighting the veterans, you’re in for a fun fight. If you’re fighting the newer players…expect nothing more than mindless zergs (I’m not joking).

Kaineng is a band-wagon server, filled with band-wagon players or even worse, the band-wagon guild. The only thing band-wagoners do faster than leaping to a rising server is leave a loosing one and Kaineng has those types of players in droves now. I’d bet they implode after their first loss.

Kaineng is a good server to play on.
1. WvW – lots of players who help and give decent comms. Friendly and competitive.
2. Dungeons – yes, I see many in LA LF ‘x’ M dungeon or frac
3. Dragons’ – get burned down faster than ever, free loot – crappy but free
4. Temples – always / often see ‘x’ temple open, or ‘x’ temple event to open on map chats and sometimes LA
There’s more – but that right there is about my night usually, with ori node. WvW being number 1, dungeons only for badges/money for alts. Waiting for a couple days till I make my 5th to see changes.

A person can successfully argue that Kaineng is a great server, but it is really hard to argue that it is not a bandwagon server. A considerable amount of their population has come in the last 2-3 weeks after they started winning.
And those larger Guilds that came from higher Tiers have explained again and again why. They saw it as a better place for them to grow their guilds and grow WvW on the server.
What gets my goat is when people tell us what the deal is on our server, when they are not our server, seen what is going on behind the scenes, or talked to any of the transfers.
Do doubt there are “band wagoners” present, but that hardly makes us a “band wagon server”. We will see. I don’t have a crystal ball like some, but I do have personal experience with the WvW population on my own server.
Kaineng is a top dog server right now. next week however we will have a good fight going. we have a great EU/Asian pop so when NA logs off they are ready to kick butt. great server i also transferred here few days ago.
You’re better off going to TC, or JQ.
The community overall is much better than KN. My opinion. As a server you may have trouble getting all of your players in the same map due to huge numbers in KN.
a lot of people will be disappointed they are not it.

As Special K has progressed and crushed each tier they have taken guilds with it. CD alone had 200+ and even 500+ people guilds jump to it in the last week. It certainly isn’t full of bandwagon jumpers but it still has a lot of them.
How much you wanna bet most of them will jump ship if you take a horrible beating in T2?

I wouldn’t bet a cent, Kainengs ascension has little to do with arrival of bandwagoners.

Kaineng was so bad before the initial guilds transferred(For reasons pertaining to issues with their home realm) that it took weeks of map capping before getting out of eighth tier.
It was only after the formation of the NEO alliance and the ascension of at least two tiers that other groups got interested and transferred over. The actual bandwagoners (People who joined to take advantage of the ascension and would leave at the first sign of hitting a challenging opponent) are of little impact.
As much as people would like to believe Kaineng is fragile construct destined to fall apart once it actually meets an opponent it can’t simply dominate, that idea just isn’t so.
Dear OP,
Yes, Kaineng is good. You have made a good decision for transferring to Kai.

Thing is, anyone losing to Kaineng will most probably call Kaineng the Band Wagon Server, so just have to take that in stride, as it’s pointless arguing otherwise. As for jumping ship, well, one big reason of the sudden increase of influx (and exodus) is of course the Jan 28 deadline. Many guilds were already considering transferring, but the sudden deadline forced them to commit to a choice. Its possibly true some transferred because they wanted to be on the winning side. Still, most saw Jan-28 as the deadline to seriously pick a long-term server, with a good community. The ‘actual’ servers should start after this deadline.

When the first migration of guilds went to Kaineng, we had no less than 30 people dominating the maps for awhile.
It’s the NEO alliance and the Night Crew that ascends Kaineng, not the stragglers who are hitching a ride.
I predict they will become another HoD or ET or SBI. As far as their “skills” lets just say that everyone they have faced has said “below average individual skills”. Great for Zerging though when you outnumber people 5 to 1.
Everyone is bad but me.
Anet ruined Gw2.
From the time we’ve spent on Kaineng, we enjoy the organization.
First, you have TL/RUN and other ex-IoJ guilds running red map at the moment. We claimed the entire map within 10 hours against CD. Call it revenge, or whatever, it was glorious.
Then you have NEO alliance running in Kaineng BL. They did well at reset too, and certainly deserve some praise. They have also done a great job of maintaining that BL. While initially they did not gain as much territory as fast as TL or other maps, they have held it the best over a longer period of time IMO.
WM and some of their friendly guilds control EB, and do rather well. Their advantage is clear during the oceanic time zones, although they had some trouble initially holding SM and various towers in EB. They have since dominated.
I have no idea who was “assigned” to green at reset/weekend, but they didnt do too too hot until other guilds came in to help.
Answer to question: Is Kaineng a good WvW server? Will you enjoy the quality of guilds here? Yes. Best? We will see.

False.
Special K barely smelled t7 until WM decided to run away from tier 1. That brought the other band-wagoners to ride the WM win trail. Yes, Special K didn’t win without WM.
a lot of people will be disappointed they are not it.
(edited by Altie.4571)
Its funny how that some guy on Crystal Desert who hasnt ever fought Kain before WM transfered over seems so sure that we “barely smelled t7 till WM arrive”
Ask the Devonas we held in tier 8 for 8 weeks.
They’ll tell you that we put up more of a fight than all the tier 7 servers combined.
We would have been a tier 6 server even without the transfers.
People really underestimate the Old Kain
Kaineng is an average server in the sense that all servers are average servers. They are all a mix of organised guilds and PUGs, the ratio being determined by who gets through the queue. Kaineng were held to a slender lead after 8 hours in tier 4, and this is with one of the servers severely weakened. Their lead only took off once NA primetime was over and then they were able to capitalise on having full queues and fully upgraded assets. When they have the manpower, both CD and YB have held them off unupgraded garrisons for hours at a time.
I think it is a complete myth that the top tiers are necessarily any more organised than lower ones unless they are able to ensure all their dedicated guild groups get in. Unfortunately for them, bandwagoning groupies work against this. So the only thing different about the upper tiers is the nature of the game because of saturated populations and the price for that is queues. If that is what you want, then Kaineng is a good server for you.
Everyone that played in T1 before BG re-appeared knows that WM is one of the top influential wvw guilds in the game, full of dedicated WvW players who spend hours upon hours doing what is necessary.
Sure they may not be all of Kaineng’s powerhouse but they make a HUGE part of it and this is by no means an exaggeration of the servers success.
Look at what happen to SBI when they left (even before all the guilds jumped boat)

My alt account used to be in Kaineng (then transfered to my main server, tc), and from what I gather, there were hardly any people when I was waiting to transfer. I think it’s good that Kaineng has upped its rankings, but come tomorrow/later, there’s always the chance that some/a few good guilds will leave for “greener pastures”, whatever that may be. SBI is so sad right now (and so is SoR for getting all those transfers >.>)
So much hate towards kaineng already… yes ATM it merely zergs since no strategies needed to be done when it’s hitting 400+ and up for ppt… and most of us are likely bringing our low level toons to play instead til we get matched up with a server that is a competition we’ll definitely turn up the heat… yes I’m from SBI and it’s a guild decision to transfer here and we loving it people are awesome pve and PvP wise
-Scholar Krasso-
Kaineng current crew has been tested a lot in the top tier for the months since the game started. Anyone who thinks they’ll stop at T2 is deluding himself (baring another WM major trasfert or game leaving of course)
They are playing the zerg game, they are using the PuGs/Militia/as a force, training and feeding the, instead as a meat shield filler, like I’ve seen so many do unfortunately.
I don’t particularly enjoy seeing them there, since their departure literally destroyed my SBI – but if you are a casual and want to be well treated, you can rely on WM for that, the same way I did.
The queues though will probably get pretty nasty, after the new WvW reward system comes up. The reason WM and SBI could rarely win on reset nights was that they were not able to get their WvW crews in. This is the only thing that might stop them – being flooded from the inside. But it’s hardly possible at oceanic time.
lol, can you save this post? re-read this after next weeks matchup.
