Honestly reading the following thread: Dolyak health vs “glass cannons” I agree that Dolyaks have a bit of an issue with being too vulnerable. However making them outright tougher seems a bit off.

So my idea is 2 fold.

1. To take out a Dolyak with NPC guards you must kill both the guards and the Dolyak. As long as the guards are up the Dolyak will respawn OR the guards will actively revive the Dolyak. Under no circumstance will the guards despawn on their own.

2. Purchasing the T2 upgrades will also each increase the health of the Dolyak by 50%. Thus with both Tier 2 upgrades the Dolyak has 100% more hp total.

The goal of this change: Upgrades matter more and Dolyaks can be made to survive long enough for people to properly defend them.

Lone Dolyak: still be completely soloable by anything.

Dolyak with Caravan Guards: would now take 1-2 people and take a significant amount longer to take out since you have to kill both guards as well.

T2 upgrades: are more valuable and provide additional time for defenders escorting.

I thought the point of the dolyaks was that is WERE vulnerable? A small team of players is supposed to watch their backs and escort them, fending off enemy attackers that may try to take it down. I don’t think spending just a little bit of coin should make it so they have almost nothing to worry about. Getting a team, getting out there, and defending those furry butts is probably the best bet you have.

Getting a team, getting out there, and defending those furry butts is probably the best bet you have.

While it’s true they are supposed to be vulnerable note that I am keeping them just as vulnerable until upgrades. With guards 1-2 people can still easily take out the Dolyaks as I’ve solo’d the guards and then the Dolyak (for fun) on several lowbies myself. Likewise health won’t save a Dolyak.

The big thing here is that these things gives defenders time to defend the Dolyak. Because 3 people can easily vaporize a Dolyak in the middle of a guarding group of players right now. If they are thieves they can even do it safely. It also gives additional meaning to the lesser used T2 supply camp upgrades.

You have to strike a balance between the Dolyaks being vulnerable and the Dolyaks being impossible to protect somewhere. Because honestly 10 people should be able to stop 3-4.

10 people can stop 3-4 people from killing a Dolyak. Unless the 3-4 people are thieves or the 10 people are significantly worse players than the 3-4.

Even 3-4 people zerging can focus down Dolyak before 10 people can stop them. Unless the road happens to be on a completely flat and wide open plain where you can see people coming no matter what the entire time.

Not to mention you only need a few CC abilities worth of time to kill it.
