Tonight I had the questionable pleasure of taking part in a lengthy siege battle for our homelands main keep. It dragged on for a while and was good fun, watching zerg upon zerg break on our walls and arrow carts.

We were well prepared, they were not.

That was until they unleashed their ultimate weapon. Get enough people in a single spot at the right time and lag becomes your best friend (if attacking).

Suddenly most skills stop working, arrow carts stop firing and all your best laid plans fall apart not because you were outplayed, but because this game cannot handle what it offers.

Needless to say the defense was easily overcome once the lag kicked in.

This is a truly frustrating experience, not just for me personally but the entire server population who participated in the battle. It’s bad enough seeing attacker constantly revive each other making it impossible to cull their numbers. But losing something you fought so hard for just because of massive lag…..that’s really new territory.

Until tonight I really wasn’t going to pay much attention to TESO, but tonight’s experience really changed my mind.

The lag has increased again for some reason (maybe the event). This reset it was horrendous. In any big 3 way fight we couldn’t use any skills. It was so bad we couldn’t even continue the fight for the objective we just had to bail.

The lag has increased again for some reason (maybe the event). This reset it was horrendous. In any big 3 way fight we couldn’t use any skills. It was so bad we couldn’t even continue the fight for the objective we just had to bail.

Yeah, was there for that, was a very depressing few hours there.
Haven’t gotten in a 3way fight since reset, but I hope they work this out if things are still getting laggy.

Honestly its unacceptable a year and a half for any game mode…. no matter how many players participate for there to still be literally 30 second skill lag followed by a disconnect. The set numbers for players allowed in a borderlands map is too high if the server cannot handle the stress. That is the hard fact. It shouldn’t be happening. source—just disconnected again. I don’t go a day without experiencing this and respectively I am tired of it. My guild mates are too. Its not fun.

I’ll accept that. Doesn’t mean I’m wrong though. In this first world county I don’t know about you but when I buy something I expect it to function properly.

Yes. The teir 1 servers like mine experience more lag than others because of the high number of players. That is not anyone’s fault other than the game. If the high player count has a direct negative impact on other people’s experience it needs to be dealt with in one way or another. I have noticed that some players do not want to play on a teir 1 server for this reason alone and you know what? That is a valid point. I’m not a game dev so my suggestions (especially in mmo’s) do not hold any merit but they would be lower the player count in the maps or work on the network code. Both may not be anywhere possible, but I doubt that all has been done to fix the issues that people are having.

INCORRECT. It is the population’s fault for bandwagoning onto a single server. You want a fix to this? I got the perfect one…we lower the server cap and push inactive players onto other servers. Or we lower the amount of people who can be on WvW, which will negatively effect YOU. Either way, it fixes your problem.

You really think it’s the player’s responsibility to manage server population in order for a company’s game to work right? I would demand $ for compensation at that point. If I did that I could say I have worked first hand on a mmo. Part one of your “perfect fix” I already suggested so you are being redundant…. part two I honestly have no idea how pushing players that do not play any way will fix a lag problem caused by players that are currently online so please….. enlighten me.
