Yes, this is another ‘night capping’ thread.

I think that it’s completely unfair that North American guilds are able to cap our points back at night while we’re asleep or while we’re at work. Our Oceanic & Asian guilds work extremely hard during the PEAK hours (5pm – 1am AEST GMT+10:00) to cap as many keeps and towers as we can, we build up a nice lead and then we come back the next day only to find that we’re back down the bottom again because the LATE-NIGHT players (US/EU) have capped them all due to our guilds not being online.

Some people have put forward some great ideas that may help.

Scale the score system according to peak play time.
Peak hours (5PM to 1AM) – 150% the standard score
Late Night (1AM to 9 AM) – 50% the standard score
Day time (9AM to 5PM) – 100% the standard score

Acknowledge that people have to sleep and stop punishing players on the only servers they can play on with decent latency. The implementation would be as follows: 12 am -12 pm accept these as off peak and 12 pm to 12 am as primetime for all NA based servers (all times are GMT+10:00). During this time, if the outmanned buffed is on longer than 15 minutes per map all points will start degrading to a maximum of 250 points (all maps combine), this means even if you hold everything you can only get 250 max. This could even be made to work 24/7 on servers that have larger WvW players, but for my purpose i propose the 12 hours version. ADDED: I just realized that since they are 3 servers it might be a problem. So instead of relying buff maybe make it so that points are worth 50% of their value from off peak.

I think that the above guys bring up some really good points that will help the Oceanic community to stop having to put in ridiculous hours in-game only to be overrun when we’re sleeping & working. We shouldn’t be punished for this.

Totally agree with the OP. Those sneaky NA players capping while I am asleep or at work are soooo frustrating that I just had to post to have a sooky la la about them.

@Raze sure i was read OP post there is only one solution , split servers so all time zones can get one for its own:

GMT – 14 to GMT +14 and so on!

It’s only labelled NA because of server location. You don’t have to be trueblood american to be allowed to play on these servers. There is no Oceanic located server, Oceanics are actually directed to play on the US servers (better ping, yes 200ms-300ms is better than 400ms-500ms on Euro servers)…therefore these people have the same right to play on an NA server as you do.

You know what’s even worse? When servers that (according to these forums) have no night crew have more people in WvWvW than us during our (Oceanic) prime time!

I mean c’mon, the forums said that we should be fighting doors and npcs, not actual people. Its just plain rude when the forums say one thing and reality is totally different.

My hat is off to the alliances that got themselves organised. There’s a reason why they’re dominating the server ladder, and having 24/7 coverage is one of the main reasons for that. I hope that my server can continue to build to that.

Seems in MMO gaming Oceanics always get either completely ignored for being too small a population (see lack of SWTOR local servers at game launch) or in this case too big a population and blamed for nightfriggincapping. The immaturity of these people, I only hope they actually are <14

Yeah I aggree, nightcapping has to go away, so if you match servers with different peak times, you should close the WvWvW maps for the week, and we can all go PVE, till we match a server with exactly the same time zone.

Simple example:

Once uppon a time, there was a Guild that was playing some MMO together. They were people that lived in different parts of the world, some in America, some in Europe, some in Asia or where ever else… Why the hell wouldn’t they be able to play together on the same server in Guild Wars 2, only because few kids whine about “night capping”

We need an Oceanic server. Only then will the night capping whiners quit their whining

Yes i love the excitement in night time capping, why let me recall you the awsomeness of my experiance. Me and a group of about 15 ran to a keep and killed the npc guards.. then we killed the gate.. ran inside.. killed the champion. It was so awsome to pvp that we did it again and again until we had the entire map. Then a buncha noobs ruined it by attacking us, dont they know its pvp not pve!? Night pvp is so awsome.

The “night capping” threads I find really amusing. They go from “Please oceanics come to my server and then we’ll beat hoD” to “it’s not fair they have oceanics and we don’t so they don’t deserve to win”.

Funny thing is I can’t recall ever seeing any oceanic players using server imbalance as an excuse for losing.
