League Schedules
Understanding that the rankings are set, it would be nice to see how this will breakdown. I think the T4 and T3 servers are especially anxious to see how many times we are likely to face Tier 1 servers.
I’m interested in it because there’s no way to evenly distribute the matches in a 7 week season between 12 teams grouped by 3 so that every team plays each other once. Three servers are going to have to face the #1 server twice.
I’m also curious if there’s going to be a 1-2-3 matchup or a 1-2-5 and a 1-3-6. How you set up the matches greatly affects the game. Plus after the schedule is released we can have a poll to see who comes closest to predicting the results, which shouldn’t be too difficult.
Also it would be interesting to see if the first weeks matchups are:
1-2-3
4-5-6
7-8-9
10-11-12
or
1-5-9
2-6-10
3-7-11
4-8-12
I just hope that they make it so there are natural 2v1 possiblities. Attempt to put two weaker servers against one stronger server instead of one weaker against two stronger.
Which brings up the point of 2v1’s. We had all better be prepared to engage in proper 2v1’s. No more whining about, “oh, its not fair”. Or, “I refuse to do it”.
When you got Yaks and Ebay going up against SoR you kitten well better be doing a full out 2v1 against SoR.

Yes and no, You have to look at what is possible. Chances are SoR is going to stomp that match so it would be in Yaks or Ebays best interest to play for a solid second place. So shooting for SoR 100% of the time forces SoR to focus you, which trust me, isn’t awesome. It would be best to play the maps as they are meant to be played, 2v1 the home BL server and then 2v1 SoR on EBG. This of coarse is if you have the population to do this.

SoR is 100% going to stomp that match. There is nothing to be done about that. SoR can queue four maps.
That’s why the two weaker servers need to do exactly what you said and only go to SoR BL and/or EB. If it comes to it, forget about their home BLs. If they do that, it will essentially be 200 vs 100.
Found .zip file while searching for 1v1v1 schedule on yahoo. You can try it and see that it will create several different schedules. It’s an Excel file that will create a 1v1v1 schedule for any number of teams lasting any number of weeks.

The problem is, even if the matched servers are closer to eachother than in this example, this league system encourages the weaker servers to play for 2nd place right from the start by awarding more “points” for 2nd than 3rd. This will just make the matches even more unbalanced. Hopefully there will be some servers that don’t care about league placement and attack the stronger server, but it won’t really help unless you have 2 in the same match.

In a situation where its 1 T1 server vs 2 much lower servers, its going to come down to who gets focused less. All 3 server have enough population to push all 4 maps during prime time, JQ/BG have massive OCA/SEA population and SoR has a huge EU population. This puts most other NA servers at a huge disadvantage. I think the trick will be to make the T1 server push the other server and only help enough not to get focused.
My only hope is that the scoring system works so that a server out side of SoR/BG/JQ can win. Not that I don’t want to win, it’s just that a lot of servers are going to have to put up with a week or more of unbalanced population. For that and no chance to win doesn’t sound good for the game or the lower servers.

True, I was dismayed to see the scoring system. But regardless, I will encourage my server to attack the stronger server. Playing for second isn’t my idea of fun.
If my server even gets into the 12th spot, we’ll have no hope of winning so why play for second? Luckily a lot of people on my server play for the fights so perhaps it will work out.
