Is there anything in WvW from the top to the lowest servers that comes remotely close to a legendary commander? Someone who can deal with almost all situations and not just once, Im talking about constantly being a excellent strategist.

Most good commanders I know, take time to teach their methods to others so we can have various skilled commanders.

Nachonix gets his pug blobs to ehstack so hard they look like a solo roamer.

Seigerazor is pretty legendary. Never figured out how he supplys everyone without going to the camp. Just boom wave my hand and you get supply. Haven’t seen anyone else do that yet.

can confirm, on bannok’s 1-2 month hiatus, SBI dropped tiers. multiple ones.

Whilst partially true, an excellent commander knows the limits and capabilities of whatever group s/he has following them at any given time and tends to get the most out of whichever situation they find themselves in with the resources at their disposal.

what are you talking about? ie bannok from sbi was gone for about 2 months and sbi dropped down tiers. population at that time for them was low. Other people tagged up but pugs will be pugs. Than all of a sudden sbi was revived and guess who came back?

We should have a day where everyone dresses up like their commander for lols. A zerg of Xushin, Dragun, and Bannok lookalikes. xD

kingofguardians is probably the main reason kaineng isn’t a tier9 server right now. he leads pugs of 5-15 against servers numbering in the 80s and is, more often than not, victorious

That was my point exactly. Particularly after I stated earlier in this same thread, that taking time to train and recruit other commanders was a quality I felt required to be considered a legendary commander.

A good commander makes the best of what he has.

I think there’s a stark difference between irreplaceable commanders and commanders that can train a replacement. Isn’t that contradictory? These guys have no desire or time, I believe, to train anyone to replace them. If they were replaceable, it negates their importance. I doubt DK or Bannok or Xushin or any of the others have tried to “groom” a replacement, because how do you copy yourself on to another person? How do you guarantee that people will follow that person when you’re not there?

I understand that many commanders do training nights, to help other commanders learn. But they are not the same people. They will still do things in their own way, and that’s natural. Expecting another commander to be trained and ultimately be a near-copy of the person training them is not realistic. This isn’t a dojo. We’re not talking master and apprentice. It’s an online game with unique personalities that are simply not identical.

I know for a fact DK has taken time to advise and groom someone who wanted to learn. More then once. So you presumptions are inaccurate.

You seem obsessed with DK. He is an excellent commander and has been a pillar of strength for YB, but we did manage on our own when he took a break last year for longer periods (guy needs a break too). Generally speaking, I agree with the sentiment that no commander is irreplaceable i.e. if one steps down there are others who steps up most of the time.

I will have to agree with some of what the people are saying in this thread. I recently transferred to Fort Aspenwood because my guild (cohhilition) wanted to experience fun wub wub and active server yada yada. I moved up from the bottom of the barrel devona’s rest (shout out to dark jean and the SA crew different guilds).
Since i have been in wub wub on FA i have seen more commanders that are nothing more than a point of a spear on the blob they just happen to be running in front of. Its a miracle that FA is actually winning at all.
The one thing i did notice though is that i see more and more guild blobs running around without tags. More organized guild strike teams and small groups. But ya FA is basically commander less imho

DK taking a break? is that even true?

My votes go to Choo and Jadon on TC. They are definitely up there as some of the best commanders in WvW.

If there was a formula for commander ratings (if such a thing existed it would be:
Strength of guild core around them * 2(hours played daily) * .5(commander skill)

In other words, time devoted is the biggest constant. Xushin plays heavy during EU and runs largely unopposed which gives him a lot of followers.
DK will play for 24 hrs straight and sometimes longer. Indo is a great commander, but TW is a good guild.

I’ve seen commanders that do everything right but get bogged down by poor skill and coordination by their guild; and others that have all that but they do a 3 hour raid 3 days a week so they don’t accomplish much.

I get the feeling you don’t know FA very well.

FA has two VERY popular pugmanders in Nacho and Tyrion. I mean Nacho has GvG’d with his pugs and done well against guilds numerous times.

Nevermind numerous other pugmanders that may tag up at any given time: Delune, Basch, Radik, Sixshot, etc…we have at least 10+ competent pugmanders.

I suggest you participate on our TS3 server so you can get an idea what is going on. Just about all of our commanders use TS3.

Also please join FA’s Website , it seems you’re a tiny bit out of touch with what is going on.

Obsessed? I mentioned 3 separate people. I haven’t singled out DK or any others; those are just the ones I can think of. If you think I’m obsessed with any of them, that’s you projecting. You can’t say I’m obsessed with a single person when I brought up 3 and then went on to continue posting about all 3.

He means that nobody has ascended to a level of skill that cannot be replicated. Sure some servers may not have someone ready to take over if their best commanders left, but it’s not like nobody on the planet will ever reach their skill level.
