I’m just throwing the idea out there. I know it’s gonna get shot down quick cause this community is full of salt at times. But what do you think of Anet adding Tickets to daily chests / achievements? Since chest aren’t repeatable and it takes about 120+ hours (depending on if you’re on winning server or have outnumbered pips ; more or less) to complete , why not just add tickets to dailies? This will help out casual players as well. People that have a life outside of the game and don’t want to spend 3 years to obtain a simple item.

That sounds like a great idea to me.

I dislike the idea. I think it should take you more time if you are a casual player. Compare this to every day life. IF you do not go to work everyday you get less than others. Same thing here. If you do not put in the time, you won’t get rewarded as fast as others.

I feel you on not having time to play, but it needs to stay the way it is. Otherwise it is just easy mode and everyone will have it…

From a player already well over 2k rank…

Everyone will not have all the shinies. Only a smallb percentage of gw2 players will ever see WvW ranks over 2k to start with. There’s nothing wrong with making the tickets a little more accessible to low rank players – they still have to make it to rank 2k if they want to flaunt light tentacles.

And if they didn’t farm ranks back when you could do so in eotm or when you could buy wxp, they have to do it the long way now.

It hurts no one.

I like it. I’d also like them to add a reward track that adds tickets. It doesn’t have to be a large amount, like maybe 10 tickets by the end of the track. Still takes longer for casual players to obtain. Those who play WvW all the kitten time acquire tickets quicker but still takes time. Anybody who still wants the armor/weapons will still need to complete the reward tracks and choose the respective item they want.

I really don’t think an extra 10-20 tickets a week is game breaking by any stretch.

Mmmm…can’t use real life as an example. We do have minimum wage laws, and as a result, I’ve never seen a wage scale where a new worker has to work exponentially harder than the next guy in line to make a living. Plus, it’s usually the rich that make exponentially more, so why are you even capped at 175 for all your veteran-ness? If RL worked like the total hours per pip rate below, both the poor and the rich would be furious…there’s little incentive to even start, and there’s little incentive to work beyond a certain point:

I’d say no just because some of the WvW dailies are NOT really in theme with WvW (like Daily WvW Veteran Creature Slayer and good luck on Daily WvW Keep Capturer). It’ll just create even more whining.

Better to just add extra WvW Skirmish Claim Tickets to the Skirmish Chest (key word Skirmish). It then incentives Veteran/High-Rank players to continue playing which means more people play more because the High-Ranks are the ones tagging up throughout the week. Admit it or not, tags make more people chill and play zerg which means more action, more time, more fun.

We are now on week 7 since the skirmish changes so could mail the difference to WvW players that have already opened these chests.

You missed the point. But that is ok. I will say it plainly so you do not get confused. You must put the work in to get the maximum amount of tickets. If you do not, then you will not get them. I could use many examples of how this works. But that should be adequate for now I hope.

I agree with you Sylvyn , Like i stated before i know a lot of stubborn people gonna say no cause “we’re hard core gamers!” “leave it to the veterans to stick true to WvW” all that crap.. All I’m saying is make it easier for people who are casual gamers… How hard is that to understand?

Well I am not here to argue with you or cause you any unwanted grief. But I stick by what I said. If your casual you will just have to wait much longer. If your not then you will get it sooner. I guess we will have to agree to disagree.

I do get your general premise, and I generally agree, although I think the rate of return could be smoothed out better to not be as punishing for newer players and to be more rewarding for veteran players…it was just the specific example of RL working wages that didn’t quite work because we have labor laws against that. If one of my new hourly employees put in 120 hours of work in a week, 80 hours would be paid at overtime or double time rates, and that would push their paycheck way over what my most seasoned employee earns for a normal work week. Although, I suppose the wage analogy does work for salaried veterans, as they get paid the same each week whether they are hardly working or working hard, but then where is the incentive for them without providing commissions or bonuses on top of their flat salary?

As a WvW’er myself (I am no vet by any standards, but the last 8ish months WvW was my home whenever I had time to jump on). If they added 1 ticket for each Skirmish chest, I would even be happy with that.

However adding a WvW track that has tickets, or adding a couple for dailies would be a great idea as well.

Either way, it would not hurt anything as players would still need 2k rank to get the awesome stuff….and we all know that’s no quick task.

I also have a guildie/one of my best bromies thats over 2k rank and would love to get more tickets as he doesn’t have THAT much online time as well due to RL.

Again you are saying new/casual players are being punished. That would be a incorrect statement. Nobody is being punished. I think the time it will take to get (say the back piece) these rewards are more than fair. It is simple to me. If you do not have time to play I am sorry for you(or anyone for that matter), but do not ask for easy mode because you feel it is unfair. More play time = better rewards. Less play time = less rewards.

I like the idea of getting rid of timegated tickets and instead have them in the skirmish chests. Give something like 4 per chests. Which means the first few tickets (wood) are easier to obtain, but it gets harder the closer you get to diamond. For those who want to really farm tickets, they can keep repeating Diamond, that will ensure that the wvw is still active during the week.

It would be a win for everyone.

It seems you only like to talk in extremes…my thought on smoothing out both ends of the curve isn’t a request for “easy mode”, as even 1 extra pip with the current system makes a huge difference to a new player, but it still requires a larger time commitment to reach both the rank requirement and the ticket requirement than a veteran would have. Plus, I even put a plug in for veterans…more time in WvW should not result in hitting the same ticket cap that everyone else can easily reach once they are earning 6 or 7 pips per tick…give veterans a little extra perk. This thread is about ticket acquisition, after all, not the rewards themselves, which can still remain gated behind ranks.

Regardless of our opinions, I’m sure Anet will be looking at the statistics on tickets being earned and adjust as they see fit to achieve the desired effect.

All that needs to happen is to make it so chests don’t reset every week. Vets still get their stuff faster, and new players can at least see the silver lining, by actually finishing a diamond chest now and then.
