Permastealth mesmer is a pain in the butt… but other classes got more stealth too, engis now use moa, warriors rely on rampage, confusion spam… all those on top of the new burst-meta which make fights pure kitten. please keep it real and stahp the gimmicks, revert to more serious fighting instead of throwing cheese at each other or lulbursting 100→0 in 2 seconds.

i fear we will look back to this day and remember the good old wvw as it is now – Jan 2015

This is one thing I can fully agree on. There was too much stealth in the game before this, either give everyone 24/7 stealth or cut back drastically on it. If a class cannot survive without stealth then it is too weak and should be buffed in other areas, not given excessive stealth.

Mesmers can burst you down instantly, and often go around in pairs to make sure you don’t survive. If you do by some miracle manage to dodge their spike attack they stealth and wait for it to recycle. This makes them on par with thieves but puts other classes at a drastic disadvantage.

How can you be sure that the keep or tower you have just capped doesn’t have an invisible mes inside? This makes searching worthless or at least unendingly boring. Thieves were bad enough but at least they couldn’t portal their megazerg in.

More cases of devs suggesting something and then instigating the idea without either thinking about what they are doing or asking the players about it. We would rather not have the devs acting as Scarlett Briar replacements sending out explosive ‘presents’.

To be honest at the moment I’m hoping that the new WvW map isn’t as bad as it I fear it might be. If it is RIP WvW.

I for one enjoy the one shot meta. It keeps me on my toes. There is nothing more satisfying than instantly downing someone, giving them no time to react. Doing it from stealth however, is not okay. Doing it from stealth however, is not okay.

I agree with the OP. I have experienced both as a new to GW2 player and the changes are way over the top. GW2 had a better game before they turned it into “hide and seek”….

And as for Keira’s comment above me. It may be nice to be the one throwing the one shot but few find it entertaining being on the receiving end of it. In fact its a fast track that leads a players to quit games if it happens all the time to them.

Well, my personal thoughts on this are as follows:

1. Completely eliminate or further get away from GWEN. Played it for a LONG time already, been there done that, please rotate the meta entirely to something else instead of this halfway BS which it is now. All it is now is heavier necro + ele + guard instead of heavier hammer warriors, but overall not enough difference, it needs to ge taway further and professions such as engi, ranger, still need a place in the meta, mesmers need more adjustments so that they’re playable outside of being veil/portal bots.

2. I would like to see more attrition and less overall burst on both power and condi builds.

3. Eliminate or reduce team condi cleanse so that condis are actually effective large scale.

4. Reduce passive skill less personal condi cleanse so more skilled play is involved.

5. Add Active personal, single target condi cleansing across the board , enough to make up for the loss of the 2 above, again so more skilled play is involved and more balanced on small scale, 1v1 situations.

6. Introduce some real actual stealth counterplay like so many other games have, for example, active stealth detection + reveal abilities.

Also, it occured to me, that we do not know where revenant and all the new elite specializations will land. They may become part of the meta (heres hoping for hammer engis)

A lot of our class balance related issues and complaints, may be addressed (though unlikely) but also change from what they are currently (much more likely) when HoT hits the game. So until we actually have had a chance and enough time for decent testing on the upcoming specs and revenants, I will reserve my judgement.

Also, A-Net may very well be aware of these issues, but is also aware that balance will be swinging in other directions once the expansion launches, whereas, the playerbase is not aware. this is of course A-Nets fault due to lack of communication, but still, the possibility is there.

last but not least, please remember that game is balanced team vs team, not 1 v 1. Its team comp vs team comp and total team abilities vs total team abilities rather then 1v1.

1. Before the trait overhaul my engineer was a god if I had him set up for zerging. Now not so much. A well played ranger has always had it’s place in a zerg as well. As far as Mesmer goes I consider them and thieves to be the wild dog packs that take down targets of opportunity.

6. Engineers and Rangers are able to make this happen. I would be happy if they gave other professions options too.
