Let's talk Guild Upgrades and Scribing
This reminded me of the original WvW achievement numbers for some reason. If I kill 1 yak every 2 minutes, 8 hours a day, 7 days a week, it will only take me X years to get Yak Slapper.
assuming you buy the Pigment Pouches, as those cannot be farmed.
Not true actually, they are made from salvaging dyes and dyes can be ‘farmed’ either by farming the materials to craft dye, or by going to the map (forget which one) that has unidentified dye as a map reward and complete events there.
None the less here are my thoughts on the ‘cost’ of guild halls. If it’s a one time unlock go ahead and make it kinda pricey that’s fine feels better when you get it. However, for the one time use items (such as WvW tatictavator things) they shouldn’t be too expensive. Right now from what I have seen for the one time use upgrades is they are super expensive like the one time unlocks which doesn’t seem right to me. Guild Halls are a big drain to WvW player’s rewards as they will always have to keep crafting expensive items to use the fun new features of WvW (and if you don’t use them you will have a much harder time participating well in WvW).
Main Class – Ranger [Bezerker/Trapper Hybrid]
Main Mode – WvW [Gate of Madness]
Well, the guild hall seems to have taken account that people would be farming pve for them, which would prove to be a nightmare in WvW.
People are deliberately pricing it high despite there being so many because they know there are those that want it now. You shouldn’t be buying flax seeds for 5s30c a piece— the price is really more like 5s if you match the highest buyer. But even buying it at that price is only like a wait of an hour or two if even, so does it have to be that price of which you buy it at? And if you think about it, why wouldn’t they? You’re just going to have to wait in line until those people who are rushing it stop placing those high buy orders. These people absolutely don’t care about anything but getting it first, and they will take you down with them, even if it makes 0 sense. So what’s the point in playing that kind of game with them?
Time is the greatest premium, and so close to release, it’ll be brutal.
for there you have been and there you will long to return.

Guild hall implementation and its relation to WvW is a complete trainwreck. And that’s pretty much all there is to talk about that.
The tactics and improvements are temporary, chilling fog costs 42gold each and you can use it ONE TIME BEFORE ITS GONE
Why put absurd gold sinks in wvw, you want people to play it right. ANET tried it with commander tag colours and this is even worse, atleast you can keep those.
This is, in my opinion, part of a large overarching problem of one step forward two steps backwards with these HoT changes. There were a lot of good and interesting changes that unfortunately were not implemented in the best ways. A few examples:
The changes to yaks were wonderful. You can activate all these cool new improvements on them to make them faster, tougher, or have more supply! That’s awesome! But unfortunately the auto upgrade change pretty much negated any of these bonuses by making yaks much less useful. That fancy new yak escort buff is not relevant because there’s no need to guard the yaks anymore.
The upgrades themselves were made free! That’s great, it was a huge concern for those who dedicated their time to upgrading. But now all those fancy new tactics cost a ridiculous amount of money, way more than upgrading ever cost. So instead of an annoying gold cost for upgrades we have absolutely punishing costs for accessing all the cool new tactics and improvements.
I won’t comment on the auto upgrade itself here, as we have a lot of threads already on it, but I see it in a similar vein as “good in theory, not so much when implemented.” The cons just outweigh the pros, at least in my opinion.
I really hope Anet gives us some feedback on our feedback, at least to help assure people that they are being heard. I really love this game and WvW especially, and I don’t like to see it hurting like this.
wvw upgrades and tactics should never have required more than wvw participation.
Once again who ever is overseeing wvw just doesn’t get it.

I did not know this~
I’ll find the map and see how much this offsets the price then update the OP.
All this grind to get upgrades you already had pre-HoT.

Why not? WvW is PvP for PvE players.

The fact that guild improvements (not talking about siege) like all the “Tactivator” buffs use “charges”, makes the system completely broken and undesirable to use.
Seriously, I thought in the beginning it will be an unlock feature that you can use again and again, once you have put mats, gold and time into the upgrade.
Why does the system not use a cool down mechanic. Anet loves time gating stuff and in this case it would make sense.
e.g. “Sabotage Depot” would not be “charge” worth tons of gold (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Scribing:_Sabotage_Depot), but a buff that can be activated on claimed objective and goes on a 2h cool down if triggered.
An upgrade, like the increased Mining Rate could reduce a cool down by 10% for each tier of the upgrade.
WvW guilds could unlock that ONCE and then it would be up to the guild to decide whether they want to focus on more upgrades to slot or the same upgrades on a faster reset status.
Still keeps a volume of Kurzick poems ;)
The buffs do have cooldowns, in addition to using charges. Cooldowns need to stay, I think.
I just don’t understand why they don’t want to give wvw good rewards, and yet they pile on cost for guildhall war rooms and scribing for wvw improvement and tactics. Those should be one time upgrades and unlimited use in claims.
They really just don’t give a kitten.
