Level scaling and gear question.
Indeed, everything is scaled according with your equipment. Here is a screenshot of my level 35 mesmer upleveled. You can see stats which aren’t buffed (near 916) because of they do not exist in my gear or traits.
WvW Rank 3800 (Platinum Veteran) – PvP Rank 69 (Shark) – 25,9k Achievment Points
Mërcenaries [Sold] – Ferguson’s Crossing
Thanks for the reply.
I know your stats are boosted in PVE and fractles but I don’t know about WvW.

It’s the same system… I just tested on fractals because my little bandwagon get queues easier now…

I feel like I should transfer to your server and buy you some dyes…

The pink there is intentional… That character was meant only to make fun of my enemies, as his sole purpose is to annoy campers on the JP (and some times port people up). But i would apreciate any dye that isn’t at that table:

I’ve levelled my ele in WvW from lvl 7 to now lvl 66. With the new, easier loot bag drops you should not have any problem getting gear.
Although you won’t do as much damage as a lvl 80 and you will take more damage than a lvl 80, a fire field is still a fire field and a knockdown is still a knockdown.
The most important thing you’ll learn is how to play WvW, which the best lvl 80 gear can’t teach.
I do understand that I need to get some practice in more than anything else but I’m feeling quite self conscious about my gear. I am level 80 but I still am wearing greens such as my gloves and the trinkets, one yellow ring but the rest is green (other than the ascended amulet) I don’t know if Arena net take statistics of who goes in with what gear, I just want to make sure I have at least the average that everyone else has so I’m not losing on gear, just on skill. Do most people have everything at least yellow?
I am pretty much a WvW only player. I wouldn’t worry too much about not having ascended gear. I am in full exotics with no ascended gear at all. A lot of your hardcore WvW’ers are in the same boat since there was no way to obtain ascended gear in WvW until the recent release of laurels. If you have decent gear and a decent WvW build you will do just fine.

The stat bonus to ascended gear is negligible since most of the dps increase was due to cavalier stats and now you can get cavalier exotics from the karma vendor at balthazar temple. I’d keep doing your dailies/monthlies to attain them eventually, but wouldn’t worry too much about running fractals to get them if you don’t enjoy it. If you are level 80 with rare or better gear, karma exotic jewelry, some nice exotic weapons, and major rune/sigils is where i’d start in wvw. Get the exotic gear/runes/sigils as you can afford to. Also depends on the tier you are in. I wouldn’t bring a sub80 or undergeared character into wvw in t1/t2. However, it is probably acceptable t3 or lower without being/feeling too gimped.

This is actually in reverse. There main difference between T1/T2 and T3 is zerg size. A larger zerg is better able to absorb a low level then a smaller one.
A lot of folks level up in WvW, long as you do not think you will start out as a 1v1 god, do not get offended by being killed, you will do fine and learn a bunch. Play defensive to start, get more offensive as your level/gear allows.
Oh i gotta say, in tier 1/2 we always love seeing zergs of green arrows on the other team. It is awesome!
Actually, lowbies in zergs are a huge detriment to the zerg. They eat boons, condition removals, heals and still die in a heartbeat.
On the off chance that a green arrow is following us, they won’t get a rez from us. Not that we have anything against them playing in wvw, but we don’t want them decreasing our effectiveness.
Having not played in the lower tiers since Blackgate was down there, I guess I just figured both sides would have a larger number of arrows in general. I guess I just don’t see those tiers as being as “serious.” I saw the same mentality from KN and TC when they first moved into T2. The first week there were a lot of easy green arrow kills. By week 2 or 3 there were a significantly smaller amount of lowbies.

by T1/T2/T3 do you mean it like white, blue, green, yellow items?

They also draw fire and use their own abilities, some of which may actually be beneficial to the zerg. The math doesn’t support your claim that removing a person from the zerg actually increases it’s overall effectiveness. I know you probably only said it to sound like an elite WvW veteran but it’s just a silly claim that deserves a bit of ridicule.

That’s how it works in BG now… Either you’re part of the big guilds plan, or you’re out… Randoms no longer have a place on it. I’m sure there will be no commander pins if they really make the private squad option.

Regardless of how it works on BG his claim regarding upleveled players is simply uneducated. Anyone who made it to basic algebra should be able to debunk his nonsense.

by T1/T2/T3 do you mean it like white, blue, green, yellow items?
no, the tiers they refer to here are server pairings. say, if there are 24 servers, there are 8 pairings of 3 servers. at the launch of the game those pairings were random, but currently they more or less represent the ‘level’ of … hm… w3 power.
tier 1 in theory holds the 3 most ‘powerfull’ servers and tier 8 has the 3 ‘weakest’ servers.
the higher (numbers 1,2,..) tiers in theory have the strongest guilds and the most hardcore players and the most players in w3 at any given time.
so, the higher tiers ‘might’ be a bit more unforgiving for new players.
to me it’s all bovine excrement, i wouldn’t even know what tier i’m in and i have no idea what guilds are in the tier above or below my own. it’s all irrelevant to me, the only think that matters to me is the current fight and next fight.
i have no issues in grouping with guildies or people i encounter on the battle field who are not 80. but those people are still better of behind the fighting line using long range attacks, an arrow cart or balista, than in the front line taking the beating

Ahh okay, well it turns out I’m in a T3 server. What would you define as under geared? Do you mean anything under the max?
Don’t worry about it. There’s lots of people that are not max level or are have less than max armor. (Some level up entirely in WvW.) Your team needs you. Just know that you will die more than if you were maxed out. But who cares? WvW is fun regardless.
