Just a little Annoyed that I have played on my server (TC) since the game was holding open Betas…what? 3yrs almost?..and now I find out I MIGHT have a chance of being invited to play in the WvW beta for the new X-Pac…Why is this a Invite only when so many have put moiney into pre ordering an exspansion that is not even giving a date of release yet… but does promise Beta entrance?

The EOTM map beta was also on a separate set of servers and it used a different client.

I question how it is supposed to be a stress test when the space is limited. XD

I’d guess it’s more a test of the map mechanics than population.

Here’s your answer, the new maps are not a part of HoT. Thus, has nothing to do with someone purchasing HoT.

I’m ok with that. At least I know you all are geared out for it and will be a solid representation of how many actual object calls during a WvW event are being made to the server.

If I had been asked by development to set up a controlled stress I would have snapped up on your offer.

And even though I bought 4 pre orders I would step aside because that would be the better choice for the health of WvW future play in my honest opinion.

I vote T1 exclusive Stress Test! We’ll queue the test servers for weeks. Nothing like 180 of your frienemies in one place to see if we melt Intel server cores.

T1 can have it, that map looks terrible.

However the smart thing to do would be to replace eotm with it for a week and test it there. Everyone that wants access can get in, broken mechanics won’t affect WvW scores, and you can shut it down as often as you need to without messing up WvW.

I’m pretty sure eotm was supposed to be the testing ground for WvW stuff anyway.

Doc is an actual WvW player with a guild in tier 4. Matches your ‘requirements’.
Is he or his guild ‘good’? Not really, probably. Does that matter? Not really.

And this way they grab some extra publicity with it.

Well main thing is that they won’t take any of these guardian warrior blob guilds there.

Because having unlimited space basically means that the servers will crash completely within minutes and thus the whole test will be pointless due to them not being able to gather data?

Its one set of wvw servers there is a build in limitation that that alone. Its 80 per side? unless the new maps let more or less in i am not sure why you think it could be done in any other way.

Map caps are, what, 80 per side? So 35 spots is over 10%.

You’re assuming that they would allow unlimited connections. There’s a thing called a queue. Still need enough players to get a queue that approximates what current servers are familiar with.

If we assume that the guy giving away slots actually have slots, it is very unlikely that those 35 slots are the ONLY invites that will happen. If it were, why would that specific person be given them to hand out freely?

It’s a test, not a party. Even if there were no queue and they just allowed a mass of players to get on the map enough to cause a crash within minutes that’s still data related to stressing the system out. They know how the current alpine borderland performs which they are probably using as a baseline but it is still a different map with different mechanics.

There’s just the perception that the “limited space” for this test is smaller than the pool of players they had for the EOTM map betas. /shrug

at the very least they would need a few full raging battles to be capable of hitting the map cap and have a match going in full swing.

If they don’t stress the limits of the system it’s not a stress test. I think it’s more of a bug-finding exercise since the infrastructure they’ll use is prob the same for current WvW

It is indeed not a beta.
It is a stress test.
A stress test is mainly used to see how much the servers can handle, not for feedback. Thus it is rather irrelevant how much or how little a single player plays WvW normally.

People also seems to think that it will ONLY be the supposed 35 people that said streamer is supposedly giving access to. That is not the case.

AHAHAH , they can’t run the servers now for wvw, no point in testing, will be broken and laggy for 3 years, mark my words.
