as I read it, the restrictions were on linked worlds. bg is not linked so still full (unless their hibergate tendencies open them up again).

Would be interesting, after all the yelling about not being able to transfer, to see how many people actually do transfer. Of course ‘we’ won’t know it really but ANet will.

It’ll be interesting to see what status all 4 of the servers in Quad get assigned in the coming weeks.

Servers like DH were locked out during the last pair because of this, and likely would’ve had the same restrictions this go around along with SF and possibly Ebay and CD. Good news for some, better news for others.

Well its understandable that there is a certain threshold to have some stability and balance so as long as a world is naturally full through normal means and that the metrics used to determine that are calculated properly, it is reasonable in my opinion.

The downside of course with basing server status off of activity is that when a server needs to get people in, whether its for coverage purposes or that they know there are people/guilds that want to transfer for whatever reason, the server will basically have to stop/slow down playing until it opens up. Its not that a server wants to do that but essentially has to in order to stay competitive, and if a server cant stay competitive people will leave and the server dies. In the past it was a lot easier to get around this on an individual level because server status was based off of population, and there was typically certain times of the day when a full server would open up.

People transfer for a variety of reasons, they want to play with friends/family/guilds, they like the community, they want a different playing environment. Unfortunately some people seem to think people who transfer just want to bandwagon or stack, people just want to have fun. I never heard anyone say they transferred to BG so they can blob over an enemies map and farm loot. What I hear is that they came for and enjoy the fights and love the community. After all who really wants to keep spending all that real life money or grind gold just to hop servers constantly.

I am personally against something like artificial lockdowns, not because I am on BG, but because I believe people should be able to go to whichever server they want and do whatever they enjoy. If people are not having fun and have to face unnecessary restrictions, that’s the best way to drive them away from WvW.

I would love nothing more than to be able to say some disparaging things. But, when [TW] was on JQ, they were concerned about having too much NA. Which is kinda ironic considering how their later actions left us. Though that shows, at that time, a level of caring about balance.

TC being open, and not blasting out an immediate recruitment thread is not a counter to BG being full (in fact i bet because we have been full for a while, most are caught off guard). It just reiterates the rather obvious fact that BG is still the big kid on the block.

Back on topic: Good. glad servers opened up. To me it’s anet saying … “here’s your chance to fix it players, you have been given the power.”

Yet we all know, very little may change. There will be a few big guilds moving around that I know of, but none of it comes from or was considering going to BG oddly enough.

I knew the numbers we were seeing was no where near right. Thank you for setting it straight. Now they just need to lower transfer fees/ offer free transfers and see what happens to see if some of the servers that were unable to compete before due to costs do not suddenly become competitive. If they had free transfers to all non full servers the servers might actually become competitive. I know low tiers will scream, but the fact is they are being forced to join more popular servers anyhow via linking. Players should be able to go where they are happy and at least be able to compete if they want to. Players do not transfer to lowest pop servers because they want to compete, they do so to run away from competition, but now with linking they cannot avoid it.

The “Full” status should be relative to the most populated server not an artificial number or hard coded check. Happy to see the hard coded check removed but hopefully servers like BG will remain full to prevent further stacking.

Gotta love when people want players to stack on their servers but complain when they go somewhere else.

Yeeeeeeeeeep. Then if some guilds ‘destack’ a server to go to a lower pop server, it is ‘bandwagoning.’ All silly.

WvW population is already too low right now, people criticizing players for not spreading it even thinner are a bit too full of themselves.

I only hope that the other servers populations also get put right… Darkhaven is far from being Very High (one would argue that even our guest EBay is larger).

Finally. I hope JQ goes back to T2 then T1… nobody in T3 is having any kind of fun right now because of the difference in sheer numbers and in builds.

love T3 roamers though, they don’t run full cheese unlike roamers in T1 and T2. Just need to get off some salt and stop spamming emotes lol.

I agree that Blackgate should be opened for balance purposes. Otherwise, I can’t see myself spending gems any time soon.

I do hope they set worlds to low for the ones that are actually low instead of artificially bumping them to medium as well. If there are no low servers, there is no such thing as medium :p

If they even have such a setting, don’t recall ever seeing low.

BG should be open cuz sea is so weak

Until there are three similarly strong T1 servers (preferably at least T1 and T2 rotatating) the strongest servers in T1 shouldn’t be open. Right now the red server in T1 is considerably weaker than the other two, especially on coverage. Allowing people to transfer to already strong servers is going to prevent weaker ones from gaining strength and everyone who wants something other than PvDoor ktrains loses.

While I appreciate being able to have a person I’ve been waiting for move to FA now. As a general thing this feels like too little too late. I can’t help but feel that the “more harm than good” has been to FA, which doesn’t have the population of DB or JQ to start and has been prevented from picking up players post-matchup. Most of the people that were going to move after re-linking likely already have. This is going to bring at best a few people who are in FA guilds, assuming they haven’t already spent what gems they have to move once and can’t afford it again, along with a few returning expats.

Is there ever going to be anything done to equalize population post-additional-stacking of the un-linked servers or are those servers going to retain a population advantage perpetually that keeps them from having to deal with the re-linking issues that the linked servers are going to have to continually face? It seems like a significant advantage has been conferred on the unlinked servers in regard to communication and organization.

Letting players who are interested in WvW the most gather on servers with the highest WvW population?! What a sick and twisted idea. This isn’t the Anet I know.

In other words, there was a drop in gem sales.

But whats the point in that ?

The game is dying more and more.

Eventually if you keep this up without addressing the real issues of population imbalances then people will just end up being fed up with the transfers and leave the game.

Less Players = Less Income

The more you look for profit instead of addressing the issue, the faster the game will die.

This is the problem that was not addressed. Sure, the score is closer this week. However, the score is only closer because of night capping. Take a look at scoring trend: BG holds sway over much of the NA day…Then at night, TC holds SMC at night, pads the score a bit until the following day when BG wakes up again.

I want real balance throughout the day, not having one server sitting in an empty EB at different times to make the score close.
