Not a huge problem per say but it does need to be fixed….

People logging out when they go down. Cheesy and cowardly, but it does prevent you from getting badges from them which is annoying.

I was under the impression there is a 10 second timer before they are logged out… so you should still be able to kill them in that time. I do know that it saves that person from any repair costs though.

No, I’ve downed numerous people before and they vanish into thin air. Not thieves or mesmers either.

I’m not sure what -exactly- they’re doing, maybe alt-F4 heh. It’s just a lame tactic to avoid a death.

Yep. It’s just a way to prevent the enemy from getting some badges. Same as jumping off a cliff to your death.

Ah that part I didn’t know, because I’ve never tried it. That does make it kind of hilarious actually. I guess if you’re that determined to not give someone badges whatever. Just seems like they’re embarrased because they got caught and died or got owned in a 1v1 or 2v1 most of the time.

Cliff jumping can be a little different, because sometimes you can get people to follow you off the cliff which is a win.

This happened to me many many times, and I am 99.99% sure you still get loot as long as you dealt sufficient damage to the player before the jump.

As for logging out, I remember seeing a dev post somewhere stating they were investigating this.

When there is a queue there is a downside to doing it, the wait.

But the lack of satisfaction of being deprived of a kill is really kitten!

So they log out, a real pvper gets pass queue, we all win.

What queue? Most servers don’t have a queue these days, and even if they have it, it’s only few hours of prime time. And there will be less and less of queues as time passes. You don’t have to worry about queue unless you just joined the Server of the Week.

Non-WvW focused servers won’t have a queue, and WvW focused servers are moving towards 24/7 coverage which means a population spread, and thus no or less queue.

1 silver for repair is already carebear price for loosing ,imagine those guyz in a hardcore game

I’ve seen this happening a lot lately.
Especially during the off-hours when there are no lines to get back in.
I don’t care much about kill count or badges so it doesn’t bother me all that much.
I just feel people who do this are cowards and really don’t show much sportsmanship.
Being a sour loser is silly. Hell, even I get swarmed by an entire zerg while dealing with an enemy I still don’t alt-F4.
Why would I? The repair cost is no big deal. Kill 5 mobs and you’ve earned it back.
I hate loading screens more.

And if a thief nails me, he deserved the kill.
And if a thief nails you, he deserved the kill.

The worst part is I’ve seen people alt-F4’ing while running away from me.
Not warping (still in combat), not stealthing, just plain exiting.

People who take off their armor while running away are funny tho’.

And this has been said before, but I’ll confirm it.
People jumping off a cliff will still give you a kill and loot bag if you damaged them enough.

tbh i have seen this only from german servers abbadons and millers ,and yes new gw2 fashion is to run arround with naked engineers

I tested this a few times tonight (sorry fellas..for science!!)
Basically if you log out while you go downed, by esc + pressing log out to character select, and then log right back in you do NOT die. If you log right back in, you are actually in downed state (in my situation I was in the middle of heart of the mists in a downed state). I logged out when I was downed, and came back into game as downed, thus I think it is fair to assume that no one got any points, or badges, and also my armor was not damaged as well.

This happened for 3 out of the 4 times I tried it. The remaining 1/4 I logged back in as dead, which may be because I logged out with low health in down state or waited a bit longer to log back in. In any case, it doesn’t necessarily mean you die.

I’m seeing this happen more and more every day. It’s pretty annoying when you’re wondering in what patch did they add Warrior Stealth… Seeing this happen alot in my tier especially with next to zero queue times for all three servers.

I sometimes troll people with this. When 5+ people chase me, I make em run a long long way then just alt+f4 I do agree it’s annoying when people do this while in downed. If it was up to me, I’d remove downed state from PvP entirely. If you’re dead, you’re dead. Why does the warrior have traits for faster reviving & why are there runes for this? Would be much better to see builds made to revive people and be rewarded for it than to have this terrible terrible downed state.

Maybe WvW isnt for you? Lots of great PvE games, you should check them out.

ANet, plz add a 10 sec grace period to prevent more kittens like this from laming up the game.

ALT-F4 requires relaunching the game. That’s not really worth it. Pressing ESCAPE and clicking log out -> character select is very, VERY worth it. It’s actually one of the very few tactics that works against getting rofflestomped by a winning team. After all, they probably have queues, and the losing team probably doesn’t. You’re only out of the game for a few seconds. There are some utterly cheesy tactics out there, this is just another one.

This should obviously be fixed, but done so after some WvW balance changes are implemented.

There is a moment, just after you hit ALT F4, a brief moment, where you can taste all the jimmies, rustling up all at the same time. It’s priceless. Also the 1 silver economy feels pretty good, specially when you’re addicted to arrow carts and the money is tight.

It’s annoying, but that’s about it. On to my next kill.
