Guild Wars 2

Ive mostly been a WvW’er since the launch of the game and I have always been on FA but I feel like its time for me to transfer. Im looking for a low to mid ranked NA server. I want something with a small but pretty tight nit WvW community where I can roam and get some smaller scale fights. The two servers Ive been thinking of are either DR or FC but info on any lower tier servers is great!

Tier 2 and tier 3 mostly consist of zergs and im just tired of fighting in them. I don’t mind fighting them with lesser numbers but I don’t care much for running in massive zergs.

Edit: After thinking it over I decided that ET would be the best place for me so that’s where I’ve transferred to. We had a great reset tonight and i’m looking forward to WvW’ing with you guys!

DR’s border lands are good and always some fights. EB on the other hand….(insert any sarcastic remark here).

DR does sound like a good fit for you but I will have to agree with some of the posts. DR does tend to zerg way more than we should. That being said we could always use more good roamers and havoc runners. We do have some good havoc/roamer guilds BOMB, EVIL, havc and a few others (If I forgot to list you I am sorry that was all I could think of off hand). AR and ET are also good choices. We have fought them many times and they are a good bunch. So I ask you to please consider us as we would love to have you in our server.

Seconded. ET’s roamers have definitely stepped up their game recently. They are almost on our level now

As a former BP player, that server is or at least was a pretty solid choice for roamers. If you play in off NA hours, almost any server below T3 is going to be pretty empty though. I moved to T2 and the roaming fights have been about as good as they were a year ago in T5.

I think the sharp decline in the player base is killing roaming in the lower tiers. Even in T2/T3 some late nights often bring out maybe a dozen total players across all maps. I can flip an entire maps camps and never see a soul some evenings in T2.

Devona’s Rest, Darkhaven and Kaineng have quite a bunch of players during NA off-hours. Kaineng don’t have NA prime presence tho.

I don’t speak for servers I don’t know, so I won’t opine on silver and above.

We’re a pretty OK WvW community when it comes to the lower tiers. Consistently we can maybe get 2nd place. We’ve got an amazing off-prime hours team that puts us at anywhere from +300 to +500 for a few hours during NA nighttime. We got WvW guilds and roaming squads that are organized and punctual.

However, there won’t always be a commander tag up. We usually drop to maybe +180 during NA primetime, and lose our keep often when commanders aren’t present. If you wanted to command, this is a good server. There are rarely HUGE zerg fights, mostly maybe 10-30 people skirmishing. The people here are great people, and I’ve had a lot of fun.

DR player here!

While EB tends to be a zerg-fest from time to time, I have to say that the Borderlands tend to have some great small-scale action. I HATE zerging, and DR is the place to be if that is your mentality. The NA off hours are a roamers paradise. Whether you want to take on things by yourself, or find a small group to run with, the action is never far away!

I have been here since launch, watched us sit at the bottom of the rankings, and been here through the rise to be one of the best servers of NA Bronze tier. We have heart, and we don’t give up. Our WvW guilds are friendly, helpful, and very skilled. We are certainly worth a look!

Both by numbers and inclination we’re a roaming server. Sure, we can clump to defend and on resets or announced raids (we’re still a small enough server that you get people from many guilds joining for those) but by and large you have small guild groups, and solo/duo roamers.

If you want to see how to lever your personal contribution into a discernible victory, look no further.

Note that on a server of individualists it’ll be on you to find the ones you want to roll with. Good luck.

My opinion that most of the good players transferred is based on the fact that I play on both FA and DR. But please do state why you feel the other way and what experience of the higher tiers you have.

My opinion that most of the good players transferred is based on the fact that I play on both FA and DR. But please do state why you feel the other way and what experience of the higher tiers you have.

My brother plays on Blackgate so I gave it a try when I was visiting him for a couple weeks. T1 players go down very easy compared to the roamers I run across daily. I’m sure you all could teach us some tactics for zerging but small scale fights/solo roaming is where AR excels.

tier 7-8 typically has good roamers because we’re kinda forced to. yes, we still zerg when we can get enough people together, but alot of our time is spent solo or small groups, not zerg-ballin’ it.

Only 2. Shamrock closed, and Sapphire is now “hardcore peepeetee” with their 40-50man blob. Scarlet still PvE scrubs…

I went to Maguuma because no one cares about PPT there, except Belle.

I got tired of reading map chats of PPT-based QQ, it has been nice to get a break from that. Also nice to login to VoIP and hear people making animal grunts/noises, rather than groaning about “losing” a matchup.

Yeah I got to question the zerg stuff as well. You guys definitely have a lot of zergs/guild blobs in your own bl and the others. Just look at our current matchup. If you didn’t have the numbers/zergs, I doubt you’d have as high a ppt.

SF is definitely zergy. and CoSA was one of their largest WvW active guilds last time i saw them. at one point they had 4 different guilds with the CoSA tag, and i know at least some of each guild hit WvW... i’ve seen all 4 (i *think* one of the 4 was a primarily PvE guild, but still... )

FC’s two biggest zergy guilds mostly left the server this week. I think from what I see we have actually gotten better with smaller groups working more targets, though its hard to tell this week against ET and AR.

If you are looking for a perfect opportunity to get into a server that is about to remake itself, was never very zergy in the first place and is now even less so, FC would be worth a look.

I think your best bet is NSP honestly. They have some good roamers and they will be in Bronze tier soon. I can honestly say i havent seen a huge NSP zerg in the 3 weeks GoM has been up against them. Dont jump on the DR bandwagon

DR has coverage in combination with numbers; though, we are Outnumbered on occasion. There are blobs. They’re mainly in EB (if there’s even more than one outside prime hours). They cross to the BLs sparingly. The typical group running around is 3-10… a dorito always attracts more.

It’s funny I was watching duels for a while Sunday morning (between SM & DH Keep). I thought, “Who’s keeping up with PPT?” A 8-10 man squad passed by our location, and I had my answer. Around that time, I left to stave off a push on Wildcreek.

I’m saying that the way I’ve played WvW has been small squad and roaming, and there has always been server support for these activities.

BTW, I’ve enjoyed the current matchup. DH brings good fights.

The absolute most challenging and best server for this kind of play is Kaineng. We are one of if not the lowest ranked server and are constantly getting outgunned. If you’ve ever wanted to improve your skills while roaming or against almost impossible odds then Kaineng is where you should come. The benefit of transferring to Kaineng right now is it is super cheap. You also get to play with some great players, a lot of which play every day. I play every day and you are always welcome to roam with me.

I’ve faced EB, AR, DR, ET, FC, SoR, and more, and murdered them all.

Most people suggest their own server so shameless plug, join Dragonbrand! Also the population shifts in this game mean that t1 and t2 have high pop now, t3 is the new dividing line for high and low coverage (DB is t3).

The main reason you might see a DR zerg on the BL’s is due to server quality. DR holds many events that are WvW related. Necro zerg, Asuran and Naked to name a few.

Fergy took lessons from Big Brother (Sorrow’s Furnace). their zergs might not be as big as a higher tier server, but they… from my own recent observations… all call and bring out the zerg just to push a few people from their borders. not to say they’re a bad server, but if you wanted to get away from zerginess… well… i wouldn’t go there if i was trying to avoid zergs.

So i have been on SF from launch and love playing in the lower servers but the people say move to DR are wrong don’t do it i used to love playing DR but right now they have 24/7 zergs no solo roaming (that i have seen or that will fight) and the small man groups that roam are mostly Hammer spamming warriors. Not too sure what has happened to DR ( HoD transfers maybe) but i do feel the loss of a great server a server that was fun to fight and always had a laugh.

We call you zergy because of how you fight. Unless your zerg outnumbers us by at least 3 to 1 you all run, hide, fight from a tower with siege. Same goes for 90% of your roamers, I chased 2 of them back to bay and they didn’t come out to fight until they had 5 people. Heck, there was several times today that you all jumped off cliffs at hills to avoid fighting. Why not at least try to fight if you are just going to kill yourselves?

did i say leave that fast nope beside ty for the keep’s and tower’s beside i do have fun with ET more Then FC i’ll be happy when there gone.

indeed. you were fielding more numbers last night than i’ve seen all week for some reason. every time i turned around last night it was "15 AR at bay!" "30AR at garri!" etc etc etc. and most of my side were apparently off on in EB, so the 5 i DID have wasn’t gonna stop you. if you could field numbers like that consistently, you might be able to give ferg a run for their money, especially with them losing a few of their big WvW guilds if the rumors are true... far from an "almost dead" server... unless, of course, that was your entire fighting force, and you just decided to target us and hit or defend nowhere else last night.

until you get down to less than 17 people across ALL 4 battlegrounds at the beginning primetime on a friday... your WvW isn’t dying. that’s where ET was a year ago. we’re still here. still fighting.

I don’t have a feel for how things are going to go now that WZ and EDGE have left, but I think we are going to get better, with smaller more focused groups and less blobbing.

We call you zergy because of how you fight. Unless your zerg outnumbers us by at least 3 to 1 you all run, hide, fight from a tower with siege. Same goes for 90% of your roamers, I chased 2 of them back to bay and they didn’t come out to fight until they had 5 people. Heck, there was several times today that you all jumped off cliffs at hills to avoid fighting. Why not at least try to fight if you are just going to kill yourselves?

5 is not a zerg last time I checked.

Myself personally, I do not engage in small group fights, I don’t like that part of the game, I enjoy big open field battles or sieges on strategic targets. I only play a staff ele for sieging towers and doing large amounts of damage to large groups of players from the periphery of the battle. If you come across me roaming or running in a small group and that’s your play style, you are going to kill me, so I find it much more fun to tick you off and try and get away, for which I have many tools, than to attempt what will be a VERY short and unproductive fight for me.
